With changes to herding and AoEs PLEASE REDUCE MONKEY BADGE! It is just too painful to bare thinking about if you can only fight 10 at a time.

I agree with everyone who's said the Croatoa badges are too large. Hopefully they'll be reduced to a size consistant with the current badges in the game.

I also think that the 1 billion badges should be reduced (maybe to 500 million). And that the zookeeper badge should have its requirement reduced too, in light of the new limits on powers.

Also, if the badge list posted earlier on the forum is correct, then I have a few comments on these:

Alumnus - It would be nice to have something gender neutral, like "alumni." I know that's plural, but it's better than implying the character is male.

Pumpkin King - This really just sounds silly, and although as a badge junkie, I'll want to get it, the title doesn't really make it one to be proud of.

Pumpkin Master - Again just like above.

Paradigm - The text posted earlier was "You are a Paradigm, that which all other heroes aspire to be." If that's been reported accurately, then I'm wondering if you meant "paragon" rather than "paradigm." A paragon is obviously something to aspire to, while paradigm is just a philosophical framework of ideas. Hmmm...

For those of us that received souvineers (either automatically or via petition) for the SS TF's, why are the badges not awarded retroactively?

It's not like we don't have proof.

Or, in my case, I have copies of all eMail/Petitions concerning the SS TF that I did, so can these be used to do specific proof/datamining?

Really, some of those SS TF are just........well they will be interesting when I5 goes live (as is).

Also, yes, those Coatoa Badges are just too.......cool and big.

I'm guessing, as since this is on Test, they are looking for input as to what can work, what works, what needs fixing.

On issues of badge sorting, exploration badges are getting less and less great really as more are added... the badge graphics are identical for all of them. Someone with all the exploration badges has so many that you can't pick out unusual ones. Would it be possible to tint the badges for different zones, or maybe different level tiers of zones? Standard colour for starter zones, green tint for the next up, gold or silver for the unique ones, something like that.

I'd also echo the comments of badges appearing in the wrong orders making the lists harder to view.

The addition of badges where you're rewarded for multiple times at an event, and the extra taskforce badges, are a good thing.

Epic badges I'll reserve judgement on. Some of the figures look like they might have been based on people who powergame badges. It's really easy to hit the current (on live) top damage badge by going afk whilst being damaged. But for a person just playing the game, it's fairly hard. The epics may well end up a powergaming only thing, rather than something attainable by actually playing. I don't imagine that's the idea of them.

Will the Shard TF Badges be awarded retrospectively?

I hope they do because I will very upset if I have to sit through the Dr. Quarterfield's TF again (10 to 12 hours long). That is just absolutely ridiculous.

Please award badges retroactively. Getting Shard Tf's done is a non-trivial operation. It is not right that they should have to be done again.

Wrong. It's right for them to hold the TF badges back.

See, back when you were running around and getting these things, they were considerably easier than they are now on Test. If they datamined, then you'd be getting credit for something that you essentially didn't do -- the TFs, in makeup and difficulty, are very different from the previous ones.

So, since they're increasing the difficulty, they'll have to hold the TF badges back for only those teams that -prove- that they've earned them.

We deserve the TF badges just for the fact that we sat through 10 to 12 hours of the first Shard TF. I don't care what you say, but that should be evidence enough that we earned them fair and square.

So when they awarded the first TF badges retroactively, are you saying that everyone back then didn't deserve them either?

Wrong. They completed the Task Force. Just because the conditions changed AFTER they completed it doesn't mean they didn't complete it.

Your logic could just as easily say those that got their Zookeeper badges should have them revoked because in I5 getting 10,000 monkeys will not be as easy.

I think everyone would like to get a list of all of the added badges and plaque locations. We would also like to know how many arrests are needed for the new achievement badges, or whatever the new criteria is.

Also, are there any new accolades with this issue? If so, what is needed for then and what (if anything) do they do?

actually with the changes to defense, the damage taken one doesnt seem that far off.....just make sure to keep a empath with you so they can knock out their heal badge at the same time.....it'll take team work and that what the devs are forcing on us.

First, I hope the 'giantness' of the new badges is a bug, they're just ridiculous.

Could the badges be put into some logical order maybe? Gearsmasher and clockstopper aren't next to each other, and the list isn't in alphabetical order, doesn't make any sense. Pick some sort of order and fix the list. It's very messy as is.

Also (though I'm sure it will be), I hope the new TF badges are retroactive and those that have already completed the task forces will recieve the badges. I don't want to have to do all of the Shard TFs again for my 2 50s.

More badges: always good.

Billion-level badges: hey, need to have something to shoot for. No problem there, but while I like collecting things, I'm not as obsessive about a perfect list as some seem to be.

Croatoa badge size: way too large. I appreciate the art, but it makes both the info screen cluttered, and the badge window harder to search through. Only accolades should be that big.

Badge sorting: While not really directly related to the issue, I second the request for a more sensible sorting of badges. Collapsible sub-categories would be real nice, especially for the exploration badges. If nothing else, a more logical sorting rather than the half-random it is now would be excellent.

The text is inconsistent in the Task Force badges -- there are two at the bottom that say 'taskforce' and 'task force' (all lower case) -- and there is one badge that says the 'XXX Task Force' (is that an error?)

I was hoping you all would colorize the exploration/history badges based on what level of the game you got them (Atlas Park - Perez - Kings Row - Galaxy City is the first tier.. then -- Steel - Boom - Faultline - Skyway is the second tier... and so on....) -- just to break up the plain look of all the badges...

Summary:
1. Colorize exploration badges on a tier system to help break the monotony. (Details below)

2. Separate or at lest sort the achievement badges in a more logical manner. (Details below)

3. Perhaps the new Croatoa badges are a bit big and should be reduced to be more in line with the rest of the badges.

4. Some options for varying the sorting of our badges would be nice in the long run: ie: Alphabetical by zone, by name, by target.

5. Also in the long run, some way of displaying all our badges next to a picture of our character. Sort of like the costume design screen but with badges instead of costume options.

I'd like to second this. There are far to many exploration badges for them to be all the same in appearance. The tier coding should just be a minor color alteration to the current badge images and would work best by grouping them in the same manner as the history badge plaques as follows:

Tier 1: Atlas, Galaxy, Perez, Hollows, Kings Row
Tier 2: Steel, Skyway, Faultline, Boomtown
Tier 3: Talos, Independance Port, Terra Volta, Dark Astoria, Striga, (Croatoa?)
Tier 4: Founders Falls, Brickstown, Eden, Creys Folly, (Croatoa?)
Tier 5: Peregrine Island, Crash Site, Shadow Shard (If ever created), Portal Missions.

This may not be exhaustive but it gives the general idea. Each tier should be a different color and we should be able to sort them in different ways either by zone or by tier.

2. As for the other badges, some logical grouping of the Achievement badges so they aren't scattered all over the place would be nice. An earlier reply commented about splitting achievements into two groups such as trophies for hunting badges and achievements for statistical items such as damage and healing.

Conclusions: All in all, the badge system is far more amusing and entertaining than I orignally expected. There's always room for more badges, but only if the organization and display options are improved.

Badge Ordering: Having some sort of collapsable tabbing on the left-hand side of the badge lists would be a great idea. And certainly, they are getting a bit 'sprawly' now that there are so many of the things... they do need a bit of re-ordering in general.

Isolator: Players are begging for a portal mission with Contaminated in it. ^_^ The badge text will need to be changed though, obviously. The badges are there to take advantage of the completist nature of many players, so... might as well go the whole way, eh?

History Badges: It would be very cool if we could go into the badge list and for each History badge, have the matching text expand into the matching plaque text that makes up that badge. Something along the lines of:

History Badge:
+ Plaque 1
+ Plaque 2
+ Plaque 3
+ Plaque 4
+ Plaque 5

Heck, maybe the plaques could even show up as you collect them and then when you have all plaques, the badge stops being 'shadowed' out.

I appreciate new badges and things being added like this. Especially to go along with new zones or villians.

The epic achievement badges are a nice idea for high level characters and i like that they are retro active popping up as soon as you log in.

What I would like to see is that both TF badges and History badges become expandable like those of souviniors. I'm really into the content you have provided story wise and I love the fact tha we can keep story arc info and I believe the TF's are just as importaint that way and I would like the history plaque badges to be readable in a set also they have some interesting info.

I, like others here, would love the opportunity to go back and secure the Isolator badge. My Peacebringer is my badge collecting character and having inadvertantly bypassed the tutorial zone when I created him (let's be honest... I knew how to play and running errands between cops in the tutorial zone is tedious), I never got the chance to earn Isolator.

My proposal is this:
If someone has secured (x) number of arrest badges (perhaps 30?) then they can go speak to a special contact and be deputized for a single difficult mission in a zone fill with at least 100 level-appropriate contaminated and the mission assigned is to arrest all within a certain time limit. This ensures that not only has the character earned the right to make the attempt but they can't use it as an excuse to farm. If you require a minimum level to participate, then you keep them from taking people along to simply get them the badge as well.

Dear Devs,

I remember in issue two the new badge system, badges were datamined to reflect a character's achievement, and such things as taskforce badges were awarded. I don't understand why the shadow shard badges, moonfire would be treated differently then the debt or damages right now on test.

I ask that you reward players for doing the content, and not penelize them by asking them to do it a second or even a third time.

Ahh!! The sweet smell of victory....errr wait a sec i have to heal people for 1 billion points??? Arg!!! I only have medicine healing for 604 points per click...

YEEOUCH my calculator just started smoking when i plugged those numbers in i am going to need a progress bar for these and please lower that number to within calculator range.

as far as the sheer size of the new badges including the new accolade i think is great!! Different is what makes this game special..

I also agree with altering the exploration badge slightly BUT dont forget all those tf and trial badges that are ALL the same...WHY cant they be more like the badge from the striga tf?? now thats different..

O well maybe we will get our wants for christmas 2009 (when we finally hit those epic BILLION badges)
