Actually, because of several pre-hami nerfs, it was determined that a controller with Vanguard would be even more uber during the 'hold phase' of a Hami raid. Hence, on Protector at least, several 'Monkey Runs' were done.

This was also pre-team XP/credit (nerf) of the range limit.

And the beauty that is Rikti Crash Site comes in. Allthough the island in PI that is Monkey Central offers opportunity for a couple of tanks to herd them while others with either Atomic/Nova/Mass Wipe them, the crash site has a couple of small pockets were the mokeys spawn. Just not as often.

The trade off, limiting herding/damage and smaller numbers versus major herding/damage and higher numbers it sort of works out mathematically. But, yes, those that went and did do the 10K should have some sort of acknowledgement.

But then we get into the argrument, maybe those that did the Terror Volta Trial before it's change should have a different badge.

The problem occurs in the dataming. Just in a database alone, the statement to do such a specific search of data would be more complex than is necessary, especially if we want the programmers/writers to give us more content. [I am happy with the current content, and look forward to the extra that comes in each Issue.]

Now for my next question, which has been expressed earlier, but I thought I would re-iterate it:

Can there be an 'official' site that lists the badges that are available to acquire?

As: Atlas Medallion (requires Spelunker, The Silver Bullet, The Slayer, Top Dog, and Pupil)

Since Pupil is a history badge, requiring the exploration (yeah, right, I don't know where to find them on the web) of plaques the requirement only lists the badges.

Speculation about the [someone else did it not me] Gaes of The Kind Accolade has run the gamut of what is needed.

With the advent of Global Chat, servers have set up channels for those that have known badge missions to offer to those that don't have the badge, missed the badge, or don't know that Badge is a story told by people to scare empaths.

Stupid question, so plese PM Janlee if you know the answer and don't want to waste a question here:
How do you link a specific post, rather than a thread? If I want someone to see a specific post (by number) what do I put in the URL?

There was talk of adding one... but it would be beyond reason for anyone to attain the 10,000 Monkey badge at this point. The reason the badge was lowered in the first place was to compensate for the increased difficulty in getting to 10,000.

If we made a 10,000 badge now, we'd have the same problem all over again.

No. What I want is for the devs to realize that people play this game to have fun. They put a lot of work(most) into making their toons and need to realize their are other ways to make the game still PvE like it was to begin with, then tryin to make everything switched over to PvP. In the process they neglect the identities that many toons have built up with their long time in the game and more or less [censored] them of their powers to become more PvPable when a majority of the people that play CoH has more or less ignored PvP. Sure, more will play it when CoV comes out, but then again it's a choice. Some will stay PvE for the most part. They need to stop doing this waffling things with uping and downing things in the game. Making the villains harder would have created more of a fun challenge for us other then having the challenge of having to figure out how to play our toons all over again.

Hami-Os were what there was to do due to the lack of 50 content. Many of us did it to pass the time in hopes that new content would come out for the highers to be challenged in. Not the same content rehashed.

Isn't it of the same caliber as the other insanely hard to get badges that were just added though? Most of those are beyond reason, but still able to be achieved.

I don't know if someone else has already pointed this out or if I'm wrong, but it seems like the radius for triggering exploration badges has been almost doubled.

If so, I give this a huge thumbs up! I'm one of those few silly players who has not downloaded and printed out any sort of badge guide. I like discovering badges or learning about them via community lore (like seeing a specific title and asking "hey what zone did you find that badge in" and then going and hunting for it). I've even completed several history badges now, just through naturally stumbling across plaques.

On test, my characters have discovered at least four exploration badges in old zones that were new to me. If the goal was to make these more likely to be accidentally discovered, you have succeeded. Thanks for keeping a variety of playstyles in mind!

I understand that the devs have stated that secret ids will have no part in CoH. And I agree in that they should not be a major investment on the dev's part. (No power pools, no going to work, etc.)

However, I believe that secret ids should be part of the game in some form. After all, secret ids are an integral part of the comic book culture.

Which brings me to my point: I propose that, upon reaching level 20, along with the missions to get a cape and your first alternate costume, an optional mission would become available something like this:

"Hero, your cousin has been kidnapped by the Circle of Thorns. I don't know how they found out she was related to you, but you'd better get there quick."

This could be altered, depending on the origin of the toon. (Clockworks instead of CoTs, etc.)

Completing this mission would give you the Secret ID badge. Ideally, choosing this badge would replace your hero name with your secret id name, but I understand this could be excessively complicated.

Instead, as opposed to actually having a secret id name, if you choose your secret id badge, your hero name and titles become invisible. That way, all others see above your toon is "Secret ID."

You could choose your Secret ID badge to go with an alternate costume. This would not supply a 5th costume slot. You would have to use one of the existing four.

I believe this would be a simple addition to the game, but would add an important piece of comic book "reality."

Okey Doke, 1 post, here we go:

1) Please datamine and give those of us who defeated Jurrasic in the Numina TF the badge for him. It is inconsistent with the roaming Babbage in Boomtown, to give Clockstopper for either the Boomtown babbage, or the Synapse TF Babbage, but not the Solution for either the Crey's Folly Jurrasic and the Numina TF one. I got the Kraken in PP first, so I don't know if the Hydra version would have also given it to me

2) Once #1 is implemented, please give Lady Siren the badge ;-))

3) There should be some way to go back and get the Isolator badge. Perhaps a Time/Space Portal mission, where you are transferred back to level 1 in the Outbreak zone. This could be instanced, or the real tutorial one.

4) A pop-up of data on each of your badges would be great. Something like the desription and graphics is shows now, along with maybe nice looking charts as to dates when you got them, timelines of kills/damage/healing, or even what it means to the player. Some are good - "Taken 1 million points of damage", but some like "Talk shows are calling you all the time" don't mean anything if they just appear. Please put in the game mecahnics reason for getting it.

5) Rename the 10k monkey badge, so it is not re-attainable, but at least exists for those who already spent the time to get it. Everyone else gets one for 1k monkeys (which IS "grandfathered" to those of us who were insane enough to get the first)

And various badge ideas:
6) Bugswatter badge, for KILLING THE SWARMS. Along with Head of the Hydra, and Heart of the Hamidon, this should give you the RAID accolade, which allows you to NEVER AGAIN BE AFFECTED BY THOSE DAMN SWARMS ;-)))
7) Something for Knives of Artemis kills
8) Sewer Urchin - x hours in the slime of the sewers
9) Cartographer - Cleared out x% of the fog of war from the maps
10) Paratrooper - Dive from x specific buildings to smash into the ground.
11) SunBather - Spent x hours in water. Could come with sexy bikini costume option
12) Nearsighted - Missed x targets
13) Avon Lady - clicked on x doors which did not open
14) Lost in Paragon - clicked on x citizens
15) Area 51 - visit a position on the Rikti Crashed Ship

Just some ideas

What I would love is the ability to look at a exploration badge marker and have it tell you what it is.

Was wondeirng if there were any plans on giving some of the TFs/Trials/Accomplsihments a new look. Trials are fun, but when you look at the badges they all look the same. Also what can we expect or what are you guys looking to do in the near future with badges? Maybe Let us buy a badge(s) for costumes in the near future?
Great job on the badges, hope you guys keep them comin so one day we can have 500 =D

Exactly! Some of us like to hunt for badges just because, well, we like to hunt for badges!

If there can be a badge for a stupidly unrealistic goal of One Billion damage taken, I don't see why having higher count defeat badges would be such a bad thing!

I demand more monkeys! Please?

I'm sure others have listed this here, but it can't be said enough...

The badges for all 4 of the shard task forces as well as moonfire have not been retroactively awarded as of the last time that I checked. I don't know about you, but that's a heck of a lot of hours invested for the badge to not be retroactively awarded. This needs to be fixed before i5 goes live in my opinion.

I took the time to kill 10k monkeys!!
And now i'm NOT happy about it being reduced to a MEASLY 1k!!
So now, before I5 comes out, people can go and kill 1000 monkeys.. and when the patch is released they get the badge??
That's not just not cool.

being the badge addict I am /points to badge count below/ on a blaster (who sadly will never attain the medicine badges I am a badge addict but not enough to respec medicine into my build for it), Please, I beg of you find a way to allow us to get isolator for those who have characters generated BEFORE issue 2.

Over the course of approx. 22 hours, I did all four Shard TF's.

I don't want a badge.

Who gives a hairy rat's hind end about new badges??? I don't. Why not just get rid of those GODFORSAKEN experience penalty 'badges'?

Seriously, this is what the development team worked on? Instead of coding so that we would not have nerfs, THIS is what they worked on?

CuppaJo, this is not good enough...not by a long shot. The team urgently needs to rethink the entire 'issue'.

Personally, I think hunting for badges is fun. Gives us something to do besides missions. I am glad there is new badge content.
