I'm betting that although you have your graphics set to the dimensions of the monitor, you don't have your desktop set to that resolution.

First set your computer desktop to the screen resolution. Then in game change your resolution to match desktop and select apply. Then without closing the options window quit to desktop and restart the game. Your graphics should be fine at this point.

I've done this. The Windows setting is 1440x900. In game, the graphics are set at 1024x768. I set it to 1440x900 and hit "apply." I get a message saying I need to "quit and restart to see my graphics resolution changes." I restart the game and...

Well, how about that...it worked that time. Already did it once. Don't know what I did different that time. Oh, well. Thx for the help. Much appreciated.
  2. I just restarted my account after being gone for a while. I had to reinstall it after losing my harddrive. Now, all my toons are short and squat. I've got the graphics set to the dimensions of my widescreen monitor, but they still look short and squat. I've tried to change the setting in game, but it doesn't change anything. Any advice?
  3. oh, thank god. how stupid do I feel that I actually fell for it. duh.

that being said, I think it would make a great option. not a requirement, but an option you can turn off or on.
  4. Unbelievably, I think this is a great idea. However, I dont' think it should be restricted to one zone. Have it spawn in different zones at random. Or, one per zone, (but that may be too much.) And, when it spawns, a goal spawns somewhere in the zone at random as well. Any player/team/sg who hits the ball into the goal gets an influence/prestige reward.

    Otherwise, definately /signed.

While I do think that 10 seconds is a tad too long, what really boggles me is the -def on some of the powers. Why have a def component on the power at all if it is just going to be reduced at the very moment you even need it? I mean, you don't need defense while stealthed because nothing is trying to attack you. The stealth is your defense. Then you get into a fight and your stealth drops taking your defenses with it right when their use actually comes into play? It makes no sense.

    Very good point.
  6. I understand that the devs have stated that secret ids will have no part in CoH. And I agree in that they should not be a major investment on the dev's part. (No power pools, no going to work, etc.)

However, I believe that secret ids should be part of the game in some form. After all, secret ids are an integral part of the comic book culture.

Which brings me to my point: I propose that, upon reaching level 20, along with the missions to get a cape and your first alternate costume, an optional mission would become available something like this:

"Hero, your cousin has been kidnapped by the Circle of Thorns. I don't know how they found out she was related to you, but you'd better get there quick."

This could be altered, depending on the origin of the toon. (Clockworks instead of CoTs, etc.)

Completing this mission would give you the Secret ID badge. Ideally, choosing this badge would replace your hero name with your secret id name, but I understand this could be excessively complicated.

Instead, as opposed to actually having a secret id name, if you choose your secret id badge, your hero name and titles become invisible. That way, all others see above your toon is "Secret ID."

You could choose your Secret ID badge to go with an alternate costume. This would not supply a 5th costume slot. You would have to use one of the existing four.

I believe this would be a simple addition to the game, but would add an important piece of comic book "reality."
