    It's not like you can't run regular crap without the Alpha. Furthermore, the Alpha isn't a massively game-changing enhancement. At least, it doesn't have that potential at present.

    Anyone else had this happen? Myself and about 8 of my global buddies have seen/experienced it so far.

    For what? Not for PvE they aren't. I play villains now instead of heroes because Tanking is dead...but that does not mean that heroes are 'way overpowered'. This is the kind of rhetoric that gets nerfsman all fired up about nerfing things. Stop it.

    I loathe pvp, so I do not do it. I am going to use a straw man simple argument, because pvp does not warrant anything better; if you think that heroes are so overpowered, play one and stop complaining.
  4. Positron...can you please undo the nerfs? Take a look at Tankers...they are husks. Please breathe life back into them. I don't want to use the word 'suck', but I cannot apply a more meaningful, less offensive term to their performance.

    Seriously, this is what the development team worked on? Instead of coding so that we would not have nerfs, THIS is what they worked on?

  8. SheBoom is right. We don't have to roll over and accept the table scraps that are thrown at us as if we were dogs.

    Also, there is ONE more difference SheBoom forgot...appearance...we have CoH fashion game. The costume contests are probably going to be the most exhilirating thing to do in this game. Other than that and travel, it is exactly like every other freaking MMO out there except one...and I am enjoying that one. This game SO needs a new development team it is palpable.

    Precisely. Well worded. I think the developers have strange control issues. Why the game needs "direction" is quite beyond me...you know, I still play the Final Fantasy Games and KOTOR and KOTORII. Sometimes the first direction and auto pilot are good things...most of the time they are.

    The only resist or defense buffs I want are versus Psionic/Toxic. Anything else I am supposed to be "extremely happy" about simply means I have been nerfed up beyond all recogonition ( NUBAR ).
  11. What is it about developers ( GMs in pen and paper games too ) that they want us to play a game the way THEY want it played? Why can't we play it our way? This is becoming more and more like EQ with every passing comment I read that Statesman makes. He might be passionate about the game, but I think he needs to get his finger on our pulse.

    Thank you. I was feeling rather depressed, but that made me laugh.

    I dunno why there seems to be no middle ground, but my feeling is that something is either too difficult or too easy. Right now, for me, the game is right where it ought to be. To increase the difficulty puts it in the realm of masochistic difficulty.

    Simply awful. I wish a new development team would take over...one that understood wimping is awful and masochistic challenge is not fun. I can guess that the "YES!!" level of challenge equates to hamidon level of difficulty. This is precisely why I left EQ.

    Unfortunatly the zones are not laid out to facilitate this. Seriously DEVs, you create giant zones like IP or hazard zones like Parez and stuff them full of easy to kill mobs. Then you wonder why people street hunt???

  18. M&M is playable, but caters to balance over logic and fun. This leaves holes in the rules that are difficult to overlook.

    I will check it out, and if it is not another clone of the dnd rules I may buy it.
  19. Jordan heard a scuffle, a few muffled echoes in a darker part of Kings Row. Shadows told the tale that hearing prefaced, a woman being mugged by three large men.

    Hellions...She seethed with bloodlust and a thirst for revenge. She may never have satisfaction for the death of her friend, her dear friend, but she would visit vengeance upon all violent criminals. Jordan was thoroughly unhinged by Paragon's criminal element.

    The men, now aware of her imminent attack, turned to receive her, all but one. He was not quite the thug the other two were. He was sinister. He kept his back to her, knowing that his colleagues would provide time enough for him to thrust the stock of his firearm upon his victim's skull. Doing so split the woman's skull and she began frothing and convulsing from the trauma. Jordan's blood curdled, her voice became savage and her words completely incoherent.

    The two thugs began firing, but Jordan was gracile and completely centered. The advantage of their range to her was closed so rapidly they had not time to draw their close quarters weapons. She gave them the second or two to realize they were going to die...she relished this moment.

    Suddenly, the two thugs were smote, but not by Jordan. She was setting for the strike when the blast from the murderer's weapon came. The mask wearing murderer was slightly nonplused to discover that he succeeded in killing his accomplices without harming Shi Noire at all. She was even a little startled at the brutality. Determined to keep her edge she rasped, "You will not regret your behavior...you will regret mine" in a tone so dangerous and chilling that he halted. Before he could reset his weapon, she severed his trigger hand from its proper place on his arm. She then hobbled his legs.

    He lay, broken, sobbing but not cowed. She was displeased. He did not give her the expression she wanted, she could not read his true desires. He gasped for breath, and pain twisted his expression, but he was not afraid. Instead of arresting him and instead of killing him she watched him. She patiently waited for him to ask for life so she could take it, or for death so she could savor his suffering. He did neither. The intensity of anger she felt was washed away in a crimson tide almost as quickly as it set in.

    There was satisfaction to be had in revenge, but the payoff was small. It simply required the enumeration of her punishments to derive the same satisfaction and peace as this "forgiveness" or "justice" that people so often extol.

    Origins

    What origin did you choose and why?
    I elected to take Mutation because my scrapper was mutation. I made the scrapper mutation because I wanted the powers to be inseperable or something that was not from outside interference. I did not want her power to be the result of a suit or an experiment, and as she was human I thought that mutation made the best choice.

    For my tanker, my current and probably lasting main, I used Mutation for her even though for backstory it made more sense to be Natural. She is a goddess displaced from her world and happily situated in Paragon for the time being. I used mutation because after 50 scrapper levels, I was familiar with mutation and knew the stores and such. I wanted the powers for my tanker's power to be as natural to her as it is for us to have skin. Natural would have made a lot more sense, but no biggie. I kinda like mutation.

    What origin( s ) did you choose for your hero and why? Was it a matter of convenience or just a random thing in character generation?

    Anyone who does that has serious issues. By the way, you could report that person for harassment. I play almost entirely female characters. Meh, I just prefer it. I do not attach any psychology to it, I am playing a game as far as I am concerned. Both chars listed in signature are females.

    Our entire SG knows I am not female, and they do not have a problem with it. Anyone I befriend knows, because I feel that the start of good friendships, even though I will never meet these people in person, depends upon honesty.

  24. My scrapper I named because of her backstory. The long and short of it is that a confidant was murdered and it drove her to extend her claws for the first time ever...Shi means "death" in Japanese as far as I know, and Noire means "black" in French AFAIK ( I thought it meant night ). I wanted something macabre without being obvious, so I went to foreign languages.

    Nuur'Zae is nothing...just a combination of letters that is fairly genderless ( unlike a name ending in 'na, 'ina, 'ette, 'ine et al ) and I thought the apostrophe lent an exotic flair to it.
