What's your favorite DOOOOOOOM!!! post?
Hm, I think it's Maverics goodbye post on the pre-beta boards. (For those of you old enough to remember that :P)
I think London was probably the best.
Yes, London, you were right. Fixing Smoke Grenade destroyed the whole game. Now nobody plays it at all, Cryptic has gone out of business, and the Statesman had to hawk his helmet for booze money. All because you can't win the game with Smoke Grenade.
OMG, I remember London!
Oh, this one's easy.
One of my absolute favoritest posters of all time!!!11!one!!
...manages to warm the cold, dark cockles of my heart each and every time.
The stuff of positively doomtastic legend.
Just take a look at this most recent offering.
DOOOM! indeed!
Incidentally, am I the only one who was disappointed to see the "Biggest Doomsayer" category removed from the Heroes' Choice Awards?
I was rather disappointed, as well. I can understand several possible reasons for its exclusion from the final tally, though.
On one hand, maybe the Devs felt in hindsight that perhaps calling a poster out might be a little vindictive.
Or maybe it gave a little too much credence to detractors.
Or maybe they just didn't wanna give too many awards to a single poster.
I imagine that the votes for one particular UniqueDragon might've been a little overwhelming, and he was a shoo-in for Favorite Newb, anyways.
I mean -- what is this, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences?
Ironically, I found my new favorite just above this topic.

London is classic, but I'm going to pick my old archnemesis, SuperParrot/EspressoBob.

Almost from jump the world's greatest Superhero MMOG had been plagued by naysayers, people who were predicting the game's demise with only the flimsiest of logic to back their feelings up. Today's question is: What's your fave?
My personal fave (regrettably I don't have a link to it, and I'm too lazy to go looking for it) was the guy who was convinced that the game was 'dying' (as of just after issue 2) because the servers had so little lag!

Did someone call for DOooooooooooomm!!?
My particular favorite is when someone makes a valid point about the downside of a nerf, and some jackass responds with a post that just says "DOOOOOOOOOOM!"
Yes, I surely love those.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
QUAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
I love it when people insult people over the internet with bad names like jackass and a-hole making it seem like we're back in middle school.
But I gotta go with Dogpile as the most Doomy as of late...he had a couple posts last week that were just Doooooomerrific.

And, like Keyser Soze... >poof<...it's gone.
Flamer, you probably missed the BEST Dallus doom post of all time.
It was titled " SERVER TRANSFER COSTS 50 BUCKS???" and the body of the post was just "well u know they will charge 4 it "
This was 3-4 months ago, by the way.

Touchy.
Look, the point of DOOOM is that many threads start out as sometimes inspired, sometimes thoughtful rants about the game. Nerfs occupy a majority of such posts, but not always.
The problem is when you get enough "Me too!" posters to follow a lead, they tend to extrapolate and hyperbole into the realm of "The game teh sux! now!" or "I'm ready to cancel my account" or various and sundry other Forum rule-violating non-constructive blah-de-blah.
Often times, even an OP, in the course of making his argument, will get so riled up that by the end, whatever intelligent points he had to make to start out with, winding up being exceptionally useless bile.
It's a forum, a text-based medium for providing feedback to the Devs as well as each other.
We're awfully sorry that you're not happy with Travel Power Suppression or Portal Spawn XP or Changes to Elude and MoG, but if a poster isn't willing to carefully qualify and reason his arguments, he's gonna get ripped.
Unfortunately, one reason so many hackles get raised over Nerf arguments is that a lot of posters will jump in with the "Me Too!", "I Am Angry!!11 !!1" posts in great number, diluting whatever reasonable arguments are to be made.
Every poster has a right to an opinion, but without having intelligently argued that opinion in a public forum -- some posters are gonna get ripped a new one.
How could everyone forget Puffyshirt?
Though personally I always found Vegetator's DOOOOOOOM posts to be quite amusing. Especially when Icarus_Factor jumped in the fray.

But mooing the catchphrase of the moment (and "Doooooom" of course captures that theme with beautifully ironic onomatopoeia) just lacks style. Rip away, but with some panache. Otherwise, it is simply piling on, and with a notable lack of grace even for a graceless medium.
Or one could even take a risk and flame someone with "Dolt! Bumpkin! Insolent puppy! Jabberknowl!" and see if they know the comeback.

Honestly, there are just some instances where brevity is that much more effective.
After all, the only thing more disdainful than dismissal is terse dismissal.

I'm with you. I believe that if you're on this forum, it's because you have something to say, regardless of whether or not fanboys agree, we have a right to express.
Responding with the current trendy, ill thought response, only creates disdain and frustration, something we as heroes should try to cure.
On a sidenote, most people are following the creator of this game, as well as the term. So Mr. States, please say something productive, and all you fanboys, you can remove your nose from his crotch and try to be receptive as well.
My favorite: anything by PuffyShirt. *Snifff* I miss good ole' Puffy. He always put a smile on my face.

The irony of you attacking people for being unoriginal by using the trite "crotchsniffing fanboy" insult is not lost on me.
