Either way..It's my opinion, like it or lump it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, dear, but lump.

No one would begrudge you your opinion. I don't think anyone here would deny you that.

By the same token, no one would begrudge you a right to post that opinion on a public forum.

It's more that if one were to take a look at your post history, it's more that you have a habit of couching those opinions as fact; you tend to presumptively speak on behalf of a lot of other folks; exaggerate issues in the game into enormous game-breaking problems; threaten to depart the game if your opinions aren't upheld; or blame others for your own perceived deficiencies in-game.

No offense, but all hallmarks of the kind of DOOOM!sayer that we take such delight in poking at in threads like this.

Seriously, if the game makes you this unhappy? Leave. No regrets. I'll even show you the door.

[/ QUOTE ]

The last post I will contribute to this thread.
First off, I invite you to look at my post history, as all of my posts are exectly what forums are based on.. user feedback, critiques, etc. etc. plus they are informative and helpful to quite a few, which I can add is unlike your trolling.
It's pretty sad to see that people like yourself are so hellbent on being accepted by others, that you have to have your click of people there to boost your ego's.. but it's ok, without the sheep, the people who can think for themselves wouldn't be so special.

I suggest you and whomever has such a warped view to truly take a moment and relax. Remember, it's ok if we don't agree.
It's also ok for someone to have an opinion that differs with you, meaning, there is enough room in the universe for different views and opinions. Embrace this, it may serve you.

Answer as you may, now that my back is turned and I am not returning to this thread.
And like I said, like it, or lump it, I don't care one way or the other.

I KNEW I recognized that avatar! Just not the name above it.

London.. the last I heard of him was around I3. I'm pretty sure I haven't heard anything of him since I3 launched at least.

Just a quick question:
Will I be allowed to make a post 3 months from now stating that the game didn't die because suppression came in? Because listening to all those whiners for a month put me in a constant state of depression and I need vengeance dangit!

Why wait 3 months?

Nerfing Hasten into uslessness would cause the servers to close down by the end of 2004.

Ahh.... Puffy. I was just thinking about him the other day. He is the only person I've every really gotten into an "arguement" with here on the CoH boards.

Does anyone remember PainfullDeath? He managed to get the forums taken offline and all beta accounts deactivated as part of the recovery.

*Hides* Yeah. CoHDrayvis. Actually, think it was just "Drayvis" at first, changed to CoHDrayvis when the forum bug ate the first one, then changed for global chat to DarkTyger.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I remember seeing you post as DarkTyger on Usenet, and then seeing your name here change (but keeping the same avatar).

[/ QUOTE ]

Usenet... Right. Probably the same me. Mostly haunted alt.games.everquest and alt.games.diablo. Big love-hate thing toward me from most people, I think. Not really proud of how I can get there and on various forums. Can't keep my mouth shut, so to speak, even when I know I should.

I'm sure I know your name. I'm just too....ick from a cold the toddler's grandparents sent her home with to think straight right now. ><

I remember healingfist (formerly Nagical, I think), mainly because I argued with him sooooo much. He was a WoW fanboy/doomsayer/troll all in one! I particularly liked when he said that there could be no debate on the matter at all until we first agreed with his point that CoH was inferior to WoW. And now if he were here, he would say something like...

"I didn't say CoH was inferior to WoW, read through all my previous posts, if you are capable of reading. I said WoW was superior to CoH."

Posted

Oh oh oh! Who was the person that was the fanatic EQ fan? He was active on the forums just before and a little bit after launch and was always going on about how EQ was so much more superior to CoH based on content level.

Well ... I might be exagerating the "close down the server part" ... but not by much. Hasten's nerf ... going from needing 4 SO Recharge to 6 to make it Perma- ... was one of the first "Big Nerfs."

Everything people have said about Suppression was said in those Hasten Threads.

"You're ruining my fun!"
"I no longer feel like a hero!"
"Are you purposly trying to distroy this game States!"
"My entire SG is quiting over this change Statesman!"

Well ... you get the idea. Same complaints, differant powers.

Well ... I did some diging and could find any of the originay posts, not surprising, but I did find a post here refering to the "usless" posts.

It's from 05-10-04 ... 3ish weeks after the lauch of CoH so the complaints were really shorted lived, the nerf being only a week or so earlier, considering that it was clearly a nothing nerf.

The thing I liked about London and Puffy, is that I knew what their post would be before I even clicked it.

Nowadays the poster that annoys me the most is Dogface. Only, he's kinda odd...on some threads he seems like a perfectly normal guy, but in others it's as if he's typing with his [censored] or something. I think Skills is one topic that sets him off.

As for how 'nice' this forum is, this is pretty tame. The only thing that dirties it is how many people come here, particularly people who just wander in from the game to [censored] about whatever annoyed them ten minutes aqo. I grew up on some pretty rough forums, so I'm actually holding myself back most of the time I post here.

Man, the old, pre-beta forums drove me nuts. It seemed like everyone there was nice, and helpful, and it drove me [censored] crazy.

My favorite: anything by PuffyShirt. *Snifff* I miss good ole' Puffy. He always put a smile on my face.

Whoa... if someone was inane (or maybe insane) enough to warrent being remembered by States himself... damn, who was this Puffy legend, and what crazy things did he post to be universally remembered with such "fondness"?

*glances around and removes the "Do Not Feed the Newbies" sign from in front of the zoo cage door*

[/ QUOTE ]

Funny thing is: PUFFYSHIRT started the "no capes until 20 will kill CoH" thread! It was liteally, the longest thread on the boards at the time. Well over 2,000 posts. At the time AASQ was only, like 1,500 posts. It was unbelievable.

Puffy had this habit of stating something as fact, being proven inaccurate or insane, and then devolving into throwing insults at you while calling you a fanboy. Needless to say, ScaryJapan's posts on this thread are enough to remind me why I don't miss Puffy.

But he was the best dooooooomsayer we ever had. He'd rally the flag for the minions of doom, and then lead them right over the edge of the cliffs of rationality into a sea of insanity like a herd of 13375p33king lemmings.

In a sense, it was nice to have somebody so easy to debunk leading the dooooom brigade.

Oh god, Puffy.....

He was a reknowned griefer on Virtue too. Used to pull jackass stunts and then come back on the boards blaming it on his girlfriend's little sister.

Or go out of his way to annoy RPers and then petition them for harassment when they got angry and yelled at him.

Yeah, that guy needed a swift kick in the yarbles.

On the topic of the thread. I haven't been posting on the Gen Boards long, but my favorite was the guy a few weeks ago who was going to quit the game because the forum pages loaded too slowly. Seriously..what the [censored] kind of lame [censored] troll attempt was that?

Posted

Puffy's original claim to fame was when he offered $1000 for someone to give up the name he wanted when the game launched.

We tangled when he posted about having having 6 bars of debt AFTER leveling. I pointed out that based on my understanding of game mechanics such a thing was clearly not possible. We debated it for a bit.

He said he could prove it and once we explained to him how to take a screenshot he posted a picture showing 3 bars of debt as "proof" because he had already worked off the rest of the debt.

After saying that his proof was useless and that I could use similar logic to prove vampires exist by showing a picture of a bright sunny day he proclaimed that we were all horrible people and he was never going to post on the forums ever again (In Puffyland never proved to be about 2 or 3 days)

Oh yeah, I was there for his "Gemini Park BBQ" event. His characters name was Soil.

My all-time favorite doom posts were on the Unstoppable threads. The threads basically stating with, "What! you're giving blasters unstoppable in the epics? They'll be tank-mages!" and ending with "You're nerfing unstoppable? Invul is now completely useless! It's now the gimpest set out there and completely unplayable!" This was way before anyone did any testing, of course.

The supression threads are running a close second, though...

Yeah, I was there for most of that too. I think it's funny that the next day, half of his new recruits had quit the SG and came back to the park to apologize to people.

It's no small wonder Weevil and Boscoe booted his [censored] out of the Liberty League.

Of course, then he made his own group The Hive. (note the period) and found out that there was another group called The Hive (no period, run by Bugbite I think) that was a respected RP group, so he started going out of his way to ruin their reputation.

That guy just elevated jackassery to a whole new plateau.

Didn't he have a partner named something like SalsaShark? The guy who was trying to convince the RPers all to move to a different server because he thought RPers were lame? Yeah, right...Let's see, hundreds of RPers move because he doesn't like RP...or just him. Which makes more sense?
