Well, Revolution_Pr0 came back for the "five days to try the game out again" thing...and posted DOOOOM in the CoV forum.

Wow...just...wow. "CoV is doooooomed because you can't make heroes into villains or villains into heroes right at release."

Mmmm oh that debacle on Liberty. You're lucky you didn't get mixed up in all the other now-locked-and-deleted threads there, many of which he had a hand in. Doomsayer he is not, Troll, that he very much is. By his own admission, though he didn't use the word. I'd give you quotes, but ahh, those were deleted.

[/ QUOTE ]

Doesen't suprise me, JD. I figured he was a troll when the only reason he was defending TH was because I wasn't from the Liberty server.

Now I realize bozosity isn't actually a word. But are you really going to try to get off on a technicality here?

Bozosity, indicating that everything in the post was written by a bozo..ergo, I am a bozo.

Bozo = clown, or someone not taken seriously, or someone that is seen to be mentally inferior or absolutely dumb.

So thusly you've called me a stupid idiot. Simply because you disagree with what I have to say.

Now. Was there anything else you needed cleared up? Shall I draw you a picture?

And your memory of the resignation post aside, community impression of what I had to say doesn't change the fact that the post was respectfully written, did not descend into screaming and temper tantrums (well at least until you folks got involved) and regardless of how disrespectful you choose to maintain calling for someones resignation was...it doesn't change the fact that the post itself was very respectful and well written, rounding out my thoughts and feelings on the overall change.

And you just keep clinging to that "partially" rolled back explanation.

I sure don't seem to have any problems with purples today. Sort of feels like old times to me.

What else would you like me to correct you on Kali? Feel free, I've got plenty of time.

That's a bit of a stretch, unless every single criticism of every single argument ever is by definition extended to the arguer's person as well. I mean, I'm sure you believe that about responses to your argument. That you had to take four sentences to change what I said into something different is pretty sad.

Because the numbers are not the same as they were before the purple patch? The point at which it becomes nearly impossible to fight villains is not at the point where they con as purple, but is lower than where it was pre-patch. That's what "partially rolled back" means in this context.

And since that statement is about as geniune as any of yours in the previous quote, would you now kindly just go away since you got what you wanted?

You're right Kali. About everything. You win.

Now wander off and wrap yourself up in your "I'm always right" blanket and be cool.

Because its quite obvious you'll twist everything I say to make yourself seem right.

And I'm not going to disagree with you any more because having a one sided argument is pointless.

There are people in the thread making valid contributions and as you can see..I am actively discussing various subjects with them.

You aren't doing much other than stroking your own ego, and really, that kind of thing should be done in private. Don't you think?

Ta now.

Well, I don't need to do that, because you have actually attacked me (called me a troll several times, for example, simply for disagreeing with you).

BURRRRRRN!

But, saying that CoH is NC Soft's most disappointing title to date is kind of ingenuine. It's like someone who's pro-Atari attacking Ninteno back in the day because Donkey Kong did better in the arcades than Mario Bros did after a year on Nintendo. NC Soft's other games benefitted, as you stated, from Korean accounts that are specific to their region. CoH, on the other hand, didn't have the millions of people paying to play for just an hour to be considered an "active" user. They started in America and went to Korea. It's not like Lineage I or II are lighting the game magazines on fire over here with their American success.

Well I agree there somewhat. Against Lineage and L2's rather ingeniune subscription numbers its harsh to say CoH is its most dissapointing title to date.

Regardless in pure numbers it is. Its been a success in its own market. It hasn't created any new customers. The people that play CoH still, religiously, are by and large comic book fans with a background in PC gaming. Lots of folks here have probably even played Freedom Force...which is a niche title if I could ever drop a more approprite name.

CoH didn't reach out to and keep new MMO customers, like someone else mentioned. It didn't create a market, all it did was siphon off an existing demographic that was already out there amongst SOE's titles...which is the comic book nerd/table top RPG geek demographic that we're all more or less a part of.

And for there to have been any less than 100,000 people that would have fallen into that demographic would surprise me really. I said 30,000 in my intial reply because overall it just seemed really empty out there while I've been on my server. It could just be that Triumph is pretty dead and its a vacation weekend and what not..couldn't say, but it was odd running around Bricks and Founders Falls and not seeing heroes all over the place...I just saw like two or three at the green line and that was it and a person or two in Icon here and there. Mostly it wasn't as busy as I remembered it so I just threw out a number that sounded reasonable to me.

Of course, for me, its hard to come to grips with the fact that WoW does have 1.5 million people playing it. Its just mind boggling to consider those kinds of numbers really. I tend to low ball subscription numbers in my head simply because I can't concieve of the population of a major metropolitan city playing an MMO....being an old old salt gaming wise..its just amazing how big the industry has become since say...Space Invaders.

Actually, this isn't entirely true, as I know quite a few people (Several of which are women that don't like gaming in the first place) offline and online who are not Comic Book fans that play CoH religiously. I'm not saying its a huge amount of people or anything, but it certainly has created new customers.

Revolution, I'm proving you wrong with the biggest fact of all: I'm here.

Before CoH, I was a Mac user who only really played PS2 games. Because of CoH, I bought a PC, a graphic card, and have been here for over a year ever since.

So no, you're wrong. Very wrong.

I have something to admit. Before I picked up this MMO I never realy payed much attention to comics. I liked spiderman, but I certainly never kept good track of his comics.

Since then though...

Edit: I have to be picky(I am poor!), but I have tried to keep better track of my favorite super heros since picking up this game.

Since Revolution is probably reading my posts anyway,

I've never played an MMORPG before City of Heroes. I'd expected ever since hearing of it that it would be the game to break my resolve to not play them. I've brought more than a few friends into the game who also did not play MMORPGs either.

I don't think we're exceptions.

I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just of the opinion that the largest part of CoH's subscriber base is from the pre-existing demographic. All games will create a small number of new PC gamers. I didn't even play games online until Quake came out...thusly Id Software is responsible for bringing me into the PC gamer demographic, SOE is responsible for making me an MMO player. Regardless, I simply believe that the largest bulk of CoH players is from the pre-existing PC gamer market and the ones they kept are the comic book fans from that demographic.

You're not wrong, neither am I really. Its really not a fact we can prove to one side or the other, they are simply both opinions and I'm merely stating mine is all.

Exactly, Kitty.

I used to be a huge fan of X-Men... maybe 8 or 10 years ago. Since then and up until I started CoH when it launched, I only really read one comic: Deadpool. And that was infrequently to say the least. I think I only own maybe 2 issues that are past issue 25 of that comic. It wasn't until they switched to Agent X that I bought it every month, around the time CoH came out. But that is a REAL niche title (unlike the fake niche Pr0 is throwing around to describe CoH).

Since CoH came out, I've jumped to 15-20 comics I read monthly. So not only is CoH making new customers for itself, they are making new customers for the comic industry.

Then, for the love of god, SAY it's your opinion.

In the post I responded to, you used blanket terms such as "CoH HASN'T made any new customers" or "The only people who play CoH are ones with PC backgrounds."

You did this before, too: say something as if it's fact and then, when people proved you wrong, went back and whined that it was just an opinion. If it's an opinion, then use "It is my belief that CoH hasn't made any new customers, they just siphoned it off others" not "CoH just siphons off other MMORPGs."

Everything I say is my opinion. Except in stated cases when I say I believe I am speaking for more than myself.

I'm sure from my use of verbiage and the way I present myself, people can assume I am assuming some form of authority on a subject. This is not the case, it never has been.

Often, in my history on this forum, most of the reaction to what I have to say is not as much to the package as it is to the wrapper it comes in. And unfortunatly thats just the way things are. I am me, this is how I express myself and unfortunatly I really can't take credit for the way you personally react to it.

I cannot sanitize my every word for hopes that someone will not mistakenly assume I'm saying something other than what I'm saying. So I won't bother.

Just do me the same respect you expect for yourself. Don't assume. If I was to make assumptions of you, you'd go ballistic on me...just like Kali, and tell me that I was mistaking their intention or some such nonesense.

But its okay for you to tell me that I must censor and qualify my every statement to ensure YOU don't make the same kind of assumptions?

Come on Taser, surely you can see how illogical that is?

I've heard it alot around here, Arucard most recently said it "Don't assume to speak for anyone but yourself."...but that only seems to apply to me. Assuming amongst what I have to say is okay I guess.
