What's your favorite DOOOOOOOM!!! post?

This whole post reminds me of zzMDude... I remember him saying that he didn't post any of his character, their sets, their stats, anything like that. Why? "Because I know how forum posters work."
[/ QUOTE ]
Pre-emptive defensiveness? Understandable, but given his history that's just trollish.
[/ QUOTE ]
lol... Mmmm... ZZ...
I think that literally half his posts that I've seen pissed me off...
"Your opinion sucks, and CoH is Doooooooomed!"
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, he wasn't bad at all. Cynical, but no doomsayer. As I remember him putting it, the reason he was outspoken, was because 1. He loved the game and wants to see it better, and 2. Because he knows the devs listen, and appreciates that.
I think he just doesn't post anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
Naw, sorry folks, he quit.
Though, once we were talking and he said some of the post on here are justr making him wanna come back and start talking [censored] again

[ QUOTE ]
My memory is a little shaky: who did the "Capes not available until level 20 will be the end of this game" rant in style?
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe it was either PuffyShirt or London.
Ahhh, London... How much nicer the boards have been since he and Puffy took off.
[/ QUOTE ]
True story.
I kinda miss Puffy though. It was hard to take his rants all that seriously because you knew that at some point in the thread someone was going to ask him where his Puffypants were, and he was just gonna lose it. "You don't get it!!! There are no Puffypants!!!"
Actually, scratch that, I don't miss him, but he was amusing while he was here.

This is probably one of the cleanest, gosh-durn nicest forums I've ever come across.

That just seems kinda sad to me. These are by far the rudest, most flame-filled boards I've been to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Welcome to the Internet. When you've wandered around a few more weeks, you'll see how clean these forums really are. Just swing by WoW or EQ's forums...

Is that what happend to Mac? He was everywhere in the prebeta days, but I can honestly say I don't remember a single post from him from beta on....
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm fairly certain that Mac moved on to other games. He's a mmo junkie. Even when he was moderating the CoH pre beta boards, he was actively participating in half a dozen other mmo boards as well.
I'd guess he's probably moved on through 3-4 other mmos since.
[/ QUOTE ]
Like a good portion of Legion after beta, he burned out.
Funny, we spent almost 6 months time PLing and hammering the game every chance we got, trying to help it be the best MMO around. We even got into the pre release weekend and XPed as fast as we could. Then about a week after, ppl started dropping off. Mac was one of the first. Then some split off to build other SGs, like Evo on Virtue.
And yes he is off in MMO world actually playing and not Beta testing ATM!

My personal bane was Rommie. While, not an overall horrible poster, she took rabid delight in jumping in every time a discussion over naming came up because I happen to be in favor of the naming guidelines and will report bad names when I see them. Frankly, I'm not sure how she didn't get banned calling me "Herr Drayvis" (Drayvis was my posting name at the time), nazi, etc, etc in nearly every post she made to me.
Shame. Her avatar pic was her, as I recall. She was cute. ^_^

While these boards aren't the worst I've seen they are the worst I frequent.
The other places I frequent are smaller communities with a zero tolerance policy towards spammers, trolls and flamers. If you go to a big site/forum you'll generally find a larger amount of flaming and other rude behaviour.
Pure poetry! I think it's the delivery more than anything else that impresses me about this classic example of doomsaying. I keep getting this picture of some executive in his office, with his feet up, dictating to his assistant.

*has returned from a most unholy of journeys to the WoW forums, shuddering uncontrollably and with her eyes bleeding tears*
Oh goodness... That place... it burns... *sobs* So many... inane topics of conversation in the off-topic boards, I did not dare venture into the on-topic lairs. Such a frightening place it is. *claws at eyes*
Now then... *removes her unholy-pilgrimage garb and resumes her proper treefrog form*
To Crevab, I've been on friggin' My Little Pony discussion boards that were far ruder, flame-filled, and hate-spewing than the CoH boards. I'm far from joking here (all future pink plastic horse jokes aside).
Yes, there are people here who are snarky and cynical, with less than tasteful senses of humor. Yes, people forcefully shoot down others who post the same doom-filled or whining posts. Yes, people fight and bicker and it occassionally does get ugly.
However, I must remind you: this is a forum board and opinions will clash, often messily. Wish it could be better, but that's the whim of the Internet I'm afraid. Trust me though, it does get worse than this. *shudders slightly*
Heh, check out Fark.com or SomethingAwful.com for some interesting flame-fests if you're really curious about boards worse than CoH. It does burn the brain on occassion so pack some sunblock and don't say I didn't warn you.

Anyone remember Arkaine from the old boards or from Beta? Or PumpinIron? THEY flipped out in style.
Vegetor was also pretty popular with me.

OMG. Those guys were great. Ah, nothing like reading about how City of Heroes was dooooommmeeedd right after launch. Those were the days.
[/ QUOTE ]
Right after LAUNCH?
Arkaine had you guys pegged for DOOOOOOM three years before beta!
Roland - the first time I ever used the ignore filter on the boards.
Oni - the biggest rants of Dooooooom. I can't be the only one that remembers her.

Oddly enough, it's the smaller communities I frequent that tend to grate on me worse than this place. Here, I have a few safe haven threads (Litter Box, anyone?), I know how to avoid the Powerset Nerf threads, and I know which poster comments should be taken with a grain of salt or as sarcastic jokes.
In smaller communities, I tend to see a lot of moderator meltdown. Threads get locked that criticize their favorite people, people get snippy and make an artform of just skirting actual flamewars, people whine over some person's conduct and know that they can get away with it because no one dares call them on it, threads get locked that aren't remotely controversial because someone might get their feelings hurt... I could go on.
Personally, I'd rather see people have the ability to flame and look like morons than put up with small community mayhem. At the least, idiocy is ignored or called out because there's so much of it scattered among the veteran posters and intelligent people. Maybe a thread gets locked if it gets out of hand. However, I'd rather ignore which parts of the "mighty Intarweb" that bug me rather than have someone tell me what I can't view because it bothers them.
</end rant>
*eyebrow-arcs* I need to find some better forum communities or something. That mini-rant looked to get quite ugly at times. *shrugs* Then again, I only have two communities I'm truly happy with, so I guess I have a right to be angsty and fussy and everything I've ever called out in others.

It's funny how even the most well written, seemingly intelligent rants I've seen around here still falls into the classic blunder of "I feel this way, therefore everyone else does too. Thus thousands of people are leaving in droves simply because I am unhappy."

While we're on the subject of "Where are they now?" type questions, anyone know what happened to Spongecake and/or Icarus_Factor?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure about either of them, but I know Superchum popped up lately just to ride out the last bit of his subscription period. He's having fun over at WoW for now. Ah well, he was a good poster.
I don't know if Icarus_Factor left the game, but the shrillness of the responses to I3 changes seemed to drive him from the forum. He really was a AAA critic drowned out by the horde of B- and C-level complainers.

I wasn't naming names. Heck, if you knew my roommates you'd think I enjoyed snarky humor and people who were candid to the point of rubbing your skin raw.

Sorry, dear, but lump.
No one would begrudge you your opinion. I don't think anyone here would deny you that.
By the same token, no one would begrudge you a right to post that opinion on a public forum.
It's more that if one were to take a look at your post history, it's more that you have a habit of couching those opinions as fact; you tend to presumptively speak on behalf of a lot of other folks; exaggerate issues in the game into enormous game-breaking problems; threaten to depart the game if your opinions aren't upheld; or blame others for your own perceived deficiencies in-game.
No offense, but all hallmarks of the kind of DOOOM!sayer that we take such delight in poking at in threads like this.
Seriously, if the game makes you this unhappy? Leave. No regrets. I'll even show you the door.

The last post I will contribute to this thread.
First off, I invite you to look at my post history, as all of my posts are exectly what forums are based on.. user feedback, critiques, etc. etc. plus they are informative and helpful to quite a few, which I can add is unlike your trolling.
It's pretty sad to see that people like yourself are so hellbent on being accepted by others, that you have to have your click of people there to boost your ego's.. but it's ok, without the sheep, the people who can think for themselves wouldn't be so special.
I suggest you and whomever has such a warped view to truly take a moment and relax. Remember, it's ok if we don't agree.
It's also ok for someone to have an opinion that differs with you, meaning, there is enough room in the universe for different views and opinions. Embrace this, it may serve you.
Answer as you may, now that my back is turned and I am not returning to this thread.
And like I said, like it, or lump it, I don't care one way or the other.

I just have to warn you that the tired old "You're all sheep and I'm better than you because I can think for myself!" attack/defense really doesn't work. Maybe it makes you feel more secure in your vision of reality, maybe it's just something you tell yourself to feel better, but really it's as much a load of crap as anything else mentioned in this thread (such as "DOOOOOOOM" and "brown nosing fanboys").

Wasn't that the male Dallus? There's a male and a female one. The female is the one we usually see posting here on the boards in leet speak. The male one is usually seen talking about how his MMO is better than CoH.

His own MMO that wasn't really an MMO but a MUD, you mean? (Apparantly he thought the "MMO" label was one that could be slapped on any online game...) The one he thought even REMOTELY compared to a real MMO? The one that nobody else here had ever even heard of aside from his yapping?
