Are those flared gloves made out of spandex?

I don't like the shiny texture.
Probably should have used the "matte" texture though. -

Like every third person in here?

No, not really. I like Judas but he's that kind of extra-special angry and bitter. I am honestly amazed that he and Tazer didn't get banned a long time ago. -

Thanks for the support!
To be honest, criticism comes with the job. I'm not fond of personal attacks, but I understand that people are passionate. Heck, I worked in a comic book store (yep, I was comic book guy), so I understand the vagaries of working with the customer. One thing is tantamount, however - you guys are the PAYING subscribers. I might not like the feedback, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Admittedly, honey is usually more effective than vinegar, but I always try to look beyond that...

I dunno, you ever put honey on a salad? It's kinda gross. -

Do you know how many anthropomorphic shark men there are in the history of comics? -
The exercises are designed to be simple and easy to complete in spare time, so don't worry too much about huge time commitments.

Ok, I've decided (rather arbitrarily) to post regular drawing exercises designed to help anyone who would like to improve the fundamentals of their technique.
Each exercise will last 3 to 4 days (as people often have work/jobs/etc and can't always sit right down and draw), at which time all participants post their results, and the class will spend a few days constructively evaluating and critiquing each other. After that, I'll post a new exercise.
Since many of the lessons will involve the human form, and we can't all get someone to pose for us (though if you can, that's really cool.) I'd recommend picking up one of these
They come in various sizes and start at about $5 at your local art supply store (or online retailer). An action figure will do in a pinch, but these little guys are about 10 times as articulated.
I'll also list any other materials you may need, but I'll try to keep it limited to things you find around the house or can pick up cheap at an accessible retailer.
So...the first exercise is this.
Shape.
For this exercise you will need.
1. A ceramic coffee cup, preferable of lighter color (white works best, because you can really see the shadows).
2. A desk lamp or other source of directional lighting.
The first half of the assignment is to make 8 different sketches of the cup from 8 different poses/angles, using the lamp to cast different shadows.
Then, pick four of those sketches and create four refined drawings.
(And yes, I will be doing this too). -
I'd sharpen the cheekbones and chin, giving the face a more elongated and sinister look.

This is not an attempt to prevent this thread from being deleted by board maintenance while I wait for Photobucket to come back up so I can post another Hami-doodle.
Carry on.
