Quote:Hmm, I had a team together in like 3 minutes last night (8pm est. at lvl 19ish in Skyway of all places).I don't remember it being like this when I played before
There is like 50 people online on Heroes. Is it usually this empty?
Also this. Slowest day of the week. (imo) -
Quote:I skipped OWtS on my wm/sd, also skipped taunt. It's also rare that I run the Grant Cover toggle, but I took it none the less.Hehe! After looking the build over in Mids', I think I'm just gonna wait a bit, and not play the character. I have an Elec/SD Scrapper at 36, and I wanna see how OWtS plays. That may be what I drop to make room for both in my leveling build...
I had bash but respec'd it out later. The attack chain of pulverize, Jawbreaker, clobber, shatter, and CC are more than enough. (Mace excels when you herd mobs into clusters.) I took Whirling late in my build, it's very handy when farming.
Throw a few sets of crushing Impacts and red fortunes for a cheap build that will be just fine. -

1. Shield Charge
2. Ninja Run
3. Executioners Shot (because it's just evil looking) -
Quote:Of the three builds here, I would have to vote for the elec/sd brute. (But it all depends if you want to farm red side or blue) The scrapper will have a higher base dmg modifier (iirc), but if you can keep your fury up the brute will be hard to beat.My mate has an elecmelee.SD scrapper and says it is awesome for farming. He is pretty good at it, but i want to know what the best is.
Honestly i think a brute can put up more damage than a scrapper with rage and footstomp especially with shield defense.
What should it be?
ElecMelee.SD Scrapper or a SS.SD brute? or perhaps an ElecMelee.SD brute?
Thanks for any info! -

Quote:HA, I read your title and I thought you were refering to making him all blue (in color). Made me think it was some crazy trend I was not aware of. (smurf sg?)I`ve been waiting a long time it seems to roll a Blue Brute. Been wanting to get the Hulk Smash Syndrome out of my System ^^ . Never quite got into a Scrapper or Tanker on the Hero Side, However, the Brute always seemed to fit like a glove. For me its been Scrappers are to Squishy not enough Hit Points or Defense, & lack of Super Strength. & the damage out put of a Tanker is meh.
Once Going Rogue hits I figure I`ll be rolling a SS/WP very Hulkish to me, or SS/SD. ATM very tempted to go Red Side & do this but telling myself to wait. Already have a SM/WP at 50 & found it to be a very fun Journey,
Are there any Brute Combo`s you have been waiting to try Hero Side?
A blue side brute will of course have to be done. Add to that a redside Empathy toon. (or is that Apathy?) -

You can't deny factrs.
Here is a screenshot of me being STRONG and pretty.
So Strong!
So Pretty! -
You might want to consider a plant/rad controller. You will have great powers, such as seeds of confusion, roots, lingering rad, your AOE heal, a debuff toggle (or two), and carrion creepers.
I would not go for shield at 30. As mentioned above, you will be missing out on shield charge.

Quote:This.Ironically, I found that the KB in the lethal rounds was the most effective mitigation while solo because when it works it works.
As it was 2xp weekend AND a new power set, there were tons of teams full of pistols. While most I teamed with had it set to fire the majority of the time. I tended to stick with original flavor bullets (I have a DP/Ice Cor). The knockback is a great tool when you have little other ways to mitigate the incoming damage. (wish I could ice shield myself)

named mine William Munney (Unforgiven) (spelled wrong but oh well)
He's a Clint Eastwood tribute character. His 2nd costume is the preacher from Pale Rider, and his third is as Sgt. Highway from Heartbreak ridge. Will probably make a Dirty Harry costume next. (I'm going to skip Bridges of Madison County)
Side note: some of the mobs in a mission from Darren Wade actually say quotes from Unforgiven. Noticed that for the first time while playing this toon, neat! -
64month + All upgrades
The way I look at it is, CoX for 30 days costs me less than one night at the bar with the guys. That's a 30:1 ratio of entertainment value in favor of CoX.
Worth every penny. -

Quote:For primary..
Claws/WP is a good starting point.
Claws, Fire, or Super Strenth are the most straight forward of the bunch.
For Secondary...
Willpower or Invulnerability are good learning builds.
Some of the other sets (like Dark Powers) take a bit of experience to get used to.
Quote:This game encourages you to make alts, so don't be afraid to roll a bunch and play around. You'll find there are some combination that you'll enjoy better than others.
Make many many characters and you'll find the one that makes the game go from great to awesome!! -

Quote:SM/DA - (50) My first brute. Terrible on endurance usage, Great solo, Poor at tanking. He is not IO'd and is dusty on the shelf, although he has alot of badges.Just for kicks, let's list all the brutes we have and list the reasons why you like/dislike the power combination you chose for them.
Fire/Fire - (50) Excellent damage, works great in the dps role. I enjoy him as long as he doesn't have to tank. Also not IO'd.
WM/SD - (50) My favorite of my brutes. Sick damage, Heavily IO'd, awesome farmer. Awesome everything.
Claws/WP - (15?) So far so good. Is fast and no brainer as for power choices.
DB/SR - (20?) meh, I think I dont like the costume or concept, so it hasnt stuck, but I'm not giving up on it yet.
edit.
Forgot one.
Elec/Stone - (18?) I don't like stone armor, but people rave about it, so I haven't deleted him (yet). -

-
Any FOTM...
also
Stone Tanks - too slow.
Kinetics - "No, you don't need sb to survive, just keep fighting and be quiet."
Masterminds (all) - Cant get one past 30 ish, dunno why. I also dont like teaming with them.
Stalker - Not my playstyle, but I never put them down. Much love for the stalker community.
Kheldians - tried many times. Always deleted them. But they always look so cool
Traps/Device - bleh. (Also not very Hero-like to use an acid mortar!) -
Quote:My WM/SD Brute is easily my best slotted redside character. And with multiple Brutes at 50 she is my favorite to play.... rocks my socks.
Ok, I've played enough brutes through low levels to know that they're monstrous regardless of power sets early on. But something about WM seems even smashier than the others I've played and abandoned. So far the single target damage seems very nice, and it looks like the AoE develops well later on.
I know that BA is very similar and I'd rather do smashing than lethal... Also Clobber is better than Swoop, dammit.
Am I suffering from new-character-is-awesome syndrome or what? Anyone with a WM brute have any stories?
Yes, she died alot at early levels and the endurance usage was brutal, but since hitting 50 and IO'ing out (almost complete, need another set or two), she is killer. Herd your group of mobs into a nice stack and go to town with crowd control, whirling mace, and shatter. Game Over!
It's may take some work to get up all the stats you want, to the levels at which you want them, but it'll be worth it in the end.
Beware of the Romans and their stacking -def attacks. They can chew thru shields at a rapid pace if your not careful.
PS. The painful 'Thunk" sound of clobber makes my head hurt just thinking of it. -
I am unable to answer this at work as it would require me to remove my shoes and socks to keep proper count.
