Why is Victory so empty?
I don't remember it being like this when I played before
There is like 50 people online on Heroes. Is it usually this empty? |
If you're looking for crowds, you might wanna check out one of those servers.
Also remember that, depending on when it was that you "played before", there are a bunch of new zones & activities, so players are more spread out, not all bunching up in Atlas or P.I.
Peeps are in Orobouros, Cimerora, Wentworths, the Midnighter's Club, RWZ, Hollows & Faultline (both revamped and more awesomer than before), etc.
I just checked - there are over 100 visible Heroes now.

Yeah Free Transfers for a couple Months, alot of people move to Virtue to Slay Evil Demonic Cat Girls and People Moved over to freedom to pvp and find more active Teams. I am Sure once Going Rogue comes out, alot of old Players will return to the Game.
Never play another NcSoft game, If you feel pride for our game, then it as well, I Superratz am Proud of all of you Coh people, Love, Friendship will last for a lifetime.
Global:@Greenflame Ratz
Main Toons:Super Ratz, Burning B Radical, Green Flame Avenger, Tunnel Ratz, Alex Magnus
More zones to play in heroside (Cimerora, RWZ, new Faultline, new Hollows)
Bonus XP for missions vs street sweeping
Additional ways to get around besides running to the tram or the ferry (Ouro portal, Pocket, Midnighter Club)
Missions are all instances other than the relatively few hunts (which can be dropped)
Closed beta for Issue 17 sucked off a goodly number of players
Slow time that happens in the lull between issues
Many (hard to know how many) people are hidden at any given time.
Doing a Team search or/sea is not a reliable way of determining how many players are on because of the new options for hiding.
It's Tuesday.
Any and all of the above plus several things I must be forgetting.
Join the global channel most used on Victory (usually found by visiting the server forum) and you will find those missing people.
Or see the forming a team guide in Westley's sig.

Many months of fill/MA invites until most of the excessive PL exploits caused people to hide from general search but remain unhidden from SGs and friends.

Y'know they were offering free server transfers for like 3 straight months recently, I suspect people mainly used it to consolidate their heroes on more populated servers like Freedom & Virtue.

I'm gonna make a toon over on Freedom now.
Are we on the same server? Was on 2 SFs last night. Far from dead.
Edit - forgot to add a couple of things.
The Victory Section of the forums does post events and such. There are things going on for various days and times.
Also, there are global channels - Victory Forum, Victory Badges (currently full), and Victory Badges 2009 that have stuff going on. Between those 3 channels, I usually find enough players to make teams or start S/TFs.
The Find feature might help.
But...Welcome to Freedom.

Also this. Slowest day of the week. (imo)

Formed a PuG Sara Moore Task Force, which requires 8 people, starting at 7am last Saturday morning on Victory. All team members stayed for the entire 3hr 12min required.
Server Global channels are highly recommended.
Also, the player note system allows players to attach notes and 1-5 star ratings to the global identity of "exceptional" players. This "rating" only shows for the person who placed the note, so there's no point in trying to "one-star" someone to grief them. Only you will see that rating.
Awesome players get recognized quickly, (Heraclea, Struder!), and Jerkface-Weenie-Whiners get an appropriate rating and are avoided in the future.
EDIT: So, your past behavior can have consequences in the future, even on different characters, servers, or redside/blueside.
Also, you want to be in a team? Form your own! The new "Supersidekicking" feature is great for forming mixed level teams. Check it out here: www.paragonwiki.com
My experience is that if you are willing to lead, somone is willing to follow. Be firm, be fair, avoid dithering, keep your team informed, make decisions, be chatty, be complimentary, be open to suggestions, and keep it moving!

Interesting split in the answers between "I have no problem finding people" and "Here's how you might find people".
You can tell which questions people have been answering lately- the "This game is dead" ones and the "What works to find teams" ones...

So you think you're a hero, huh.

I am boggled by the "can't find teams" posts. Even within the last couple of weeks logging on to Victory (redside too), I have gotten tells "XX lvl team running miss, interested?" even though my LFT flag is not on. So from my single point of view, I know teams are out there. And when on PUGs, I glance through the global names. If I don't recognize them or see them in the global channels, I drop a message or two about the global channels and you can join those to help recruit for the team. The OP knows of the forums and can see that there is a section on Victory. Posts can be put there to indicate days/times/side/etc. and looking for other players.
If anything form a team, and say to the other player(s), "I am going to run your missions." Leading to me is more of team management (adding/replacing/kicking players; selecting missions). Not like leading tactics and strategies through a mission.
I feel the game could use a tutorial (or equivalent) on forming teams and joining in on all the channels that are possible, as well as, enhancements in the teaming functions (like find team leaders, Team LFM flags, etc.). SSK was a great addition too, just team and go at it.

Honestly, I can't recall much in-game telling me about global channels. I think it was other players that told me about them.

Make sure you not accidentally logging into the Pyrrhic Victory server. Those always seem empty.

But apparently not everyone hanging out in PI and AP means our server is dead?
It's also important to note when you're playing. It's quieter late at night, and Victory is more of an east coast/midwest server. There are fewer people after about 10:30 PM Central. During the day, a lot of people are at work, too (though as I said, people are around then, too).
I know a lot of people hide, too. I'll shout out that I'm forming a team on server channels, and I'll get tells from people that want in, and those people seem to be hiding (they're not listed on the channel, and I know they are a part of that channel). Instances also make a difference for population levels. Unless you're hanging out in Wentworth's in AP, Talos, or Cap Au Diable, you probably won't see large groupings of people all the time.
Guide: Tanking, Wall of Fire Style (Updated for I19!), and the Four Rules of Tanking
Story Arc: Belated Justice, #88003
Synopsis: Explore the fine line between justice and vengeance as you help a hero of Talos Island bring his friend's murderer to justice.
Grey Pilgrim: Fire/Fire Tanker (50), Victory
It's okay.
I won't have trouble finding teams.

Maybe it's because I am PST that I have so much trouble finding teams.

The best advice has already been given. Go to the Victory forum below to learn about the Victory chat channels and learn how to form your own teams (Westley has a fantastic guide for how to do this, anyone have the link?). The chat channels will give you access to lots more people than you see, and forming your own team will get you the players who, for whatever reason, are afraid of "The Star."
New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
I'm PST and I don't care where the servers are located when I decide which of my many alts to play. If I feel like playing on Victory, I'll play on Victory, and if I feel like playing on Champion, I'll play on Champion. I haven't noticed a discernible difference in my play experience between the east coast and west coast servers.
