I created a new hero character, a defender, and went through the tutorial like I always do, then went to Atlas. He started out with the gray Praetorian interface, but I figured level 20, right? Level 20 came and went, so I ran the 10 tips and the hero alignment mission. But the interface is still gray.
Exited the game overnight and tried again. Still gray. What gives?

Quote:That's me. I don't like the incarnate system (I just click a random thing on the "select" window at the end) and just want the costume/aura/emote goodies. Currently, this is the only way to get them.If the devs are forcing people to 'raid' because if there was an alternative, not enough people would be 'raiding' then some where along the line they've failed at key game play design rules.
Yes. The stick is used to hold the carrot in front of you ("you" originally being a horse). It's the thing you want to get, but never do, because it's out of your reach due to the stick. If they used the stick to hit you, you wouldn't see the carrot and would stop.

Quote:And a new lineage of fanfic was born...Picture a Shivan that shifts and morphs its gelatinous mass back and forth slowly between their usual hulking vaguely humanoid form and a slighter, more feminine and familiar form... still made of jell-o but with a familiar silouette.
Then picture several first level characters flipping and spinning around the thing's head.

Quote:I think you've hit on a winning story. Head to Hollywood and pitch this hero-buddy concept as a natural progression from the old wacky cop-buddy movies! As it happens, Desperate Guy and Turndown Girl are not just descriptive names, these are their professional superhero monikers. These two form one of the most dynamic crime-fighting duos in the city. Their ability to work together to solve crime is as striking as their complete inability to get along with each other otherwise. Despite this, they tend to hang out together in Pocket D when relaxing simply by force of habit.

The tier 9 nuke power should be 1.21 Gigawatts.

Quote:"Absurd" is right.I don't like how expensive the Ascension Armor is, but I accept that it's very much an Incarnate reward. On principle, tying costumes to end-game rewards of that magnitude is not something I am a fan of, but the costumes have been designed to be Incarnate-related from the start.
Now, having said all that, gating the auras and emotes behind Astral merits is absurd. In my "take it as it comes" pace, I cannot spare so many merits on things so trivial, and yet they are genuinely good costume pieces that I may want. I spend as much time inside the tailor as the next man, but I won't spend ten Astrals on any generic aura, costume piece or emote.
I have a thought that all the Freedom Points (or whatever they are) we start accumulating now will build up to a level that will let us purchase these when the store comes out with F2P. That, however, does little to remediate my disappointment.

90 percent of my characters are defenders, so this change saves a lot of time and frustration for my force field, sonic, and cold defenders. This was an awesome feature!

Yes, I was mightily displeased that, while you can buy the emotes (and auras) from the A/E Merit vendors in Ouroboros, there's no way to preview what you're buying. Especially since the official announcement page says, basically, "here are one or two... of many more!"

Quote:Ding ding, both things happened to my character, had to "fix" them both. Bugged it, too.The jacket color swap happened to me too. Primary and Secondary colors were reversed; needed a trip to the Tailor to fix. Also, same character had been switched to a bare chest, which also needed to be fixed. I worry that if they fix the bugs, I will have to go back and fix all this again.

Quote:As a VIP player who doesn't want to do trials, I disagree. I have REAL money I'm willing to part with for these pieces/auras/emotes. I have no desire to grind for incarnate money.Incarnate content requires VIP membership. The only way to get the reward to unlock the items you brought up is to run a LOT of Incarnate content.
Given that one of the reasons they are doing the whole Freedom thing is to make money, I would be surprised if they allowed a one-time finite cost to pay for something that requires $15 a month until you get enough Incarnate rewards to unlock what you want.

Quote:If it were only one costume set, I might agree with you.So for all of the people that seem to think the world is coming to an end because a new set of armor is locked behind content...
But after running a Keyes trial and racking up 6 Astral merits, I call shenanigans.

Quote:YAY THANK YOU!Hi NT,
If you edit one of your chat tabs and include the "Cutscene Captions" chat channel, the caption text from those dialogue lines should appear there for you to read after-the-fact. I know I had to manually add it on my launch-day character's chat settings, though it is included in Global by default for new characters.
There had previously been a bug where the channel for these dialogue lines did not have a visible name, but we fixed that in i20, so it should now be easy to add so all of your characters can enjoy the story of TFs and Trials at their leisure.
<off to edit my chat tabs on all computers I play on...>

I call "Radio Channel" text those boxes of text that appear from your contact. They started in Praetoria, and then in Apex and Tin Mage, as I recall. I'd always had a problem with them, as in not being able to see the text unless you pay immediate and compete attention to them when they appear. I wished, from the beginning, that they were in NPC chat, or another capturable chat category so I could read them in a tab.
Then I tried running a BAF while on my laptop, which is a lower resolution than my main gaming system, and about half of each box was obscured by the UI. With possible success-necessary instructions in them, I was stymied by the lack of a way to recap/re-read this information.
Could we please have a way to put this stuff in a chat tab?

Quote:My "incarnate" character, who is also my badger, has 1662 reward merits. Thousands of AE tickets, thousands of Vanguard merits. I guess if I don't use any merits, they can keep on adding them because nothing will change for me.I have a full-time job; I don't have time to sit out here and read these forums all day long, looking for other players to tell me what all this means and how to use the new twenty forms of in-game currency, becasue its all so complicated that it would take me a month to figure it out by myself. What the hell is an Astral Merit? What does it do?

I've given up on incarnates and have gone back to leveling up my lowbies. I'm sure the powergamers love it, but it's just too much work for me and not fun. To each their own.

Quote:As someone who was there when Sam discovered this, I can verify the childish glee and unbridled excitement. He was ecstatic. It should be noted that I don't use the word "awesome" as a noun unless there is a very special occasion for it, usually one of much childish glee and unbridled excitement. I am happy to announce that I've found just such an occasion, ironically thanks to the shoddy interface for power customization.

I gave a poor level 10 a Respec recipe. He later showed me he got 175 million for it. He's set for life.

A bigger concern I had with the security update was that it made it sound like you had to authorize account acces on each PC you use, kinda like iTunes. With 4 PCs used to run the game on two accounts, I was worried about it, especially since the official announcement had no real details, being just basically a screenshot of the security update page.
Only after I got the security email did I see it pertains to IP address. So if you run on a laptop at different locations, be aware that you might have to re-enable access at each wireless IP.
Good luck with your issue, preachmoore.

The only thing I ask for from my games is fun for the time spent. Which is why I have only 10 hours in Modern Warfare: Black Ops, and almost 7 years' time into CoH.
If anything, the speed runs of WSTs have made me appreciate the fun of CoH even more. If I don't like the speed, I can solo or dual-box an arc mission (or auto-complete if I don't like it) to my heart's content. Pun intended.
