Spontaneous uncontrolable non-fiery self destruction.
Basically, every so often you asplode and rebuild yourself with all the pain that comes with that. -
So where on the site do we have to go, i searched city of heroes, and design an NPC competition but i have found nothing about it D=
Also this NPC can be pretty much whatever, there are no specific guidelines as to what the NPC has to conform to right??
oh and could we have a little info on this studio 55 thing, wouldn't want to end up making a giant semi-mechanical werewolf if studio 55 is supposed to be a chocolate factory or something... -
Nobel Savage recently statedQuote:andNext new redside zone will certainly offer something fresh and new.Quote:Don't get TOO excited. We're still hard at work on Praetoria, but yeah, of course we'd like to make new villain content.
I'm not really bothered about what it is, and i gather you probably don't have all your concepts on paper but an issue time zone would be nice... say between issue 20-22?? -
Cheers for the support ^_^
I can't imagine changing the spawn chance would take that much space and coding so it should be easily implementable.
I have to agree with that, it's annoying how you can't create enemies for lvl 1-15 and the like. loads of enemy groups in game have it why does MA have to be any different? -
Hey, i was creating and testing the some minions im making for an AE arc, and realised that no matter what powers the enemies have they all have about an equal chance of spawning in the mob.
My suggestion is to implement some tech which allows you to select how frequently each of your enemies appear. This would work in ranks to stop people using it to boss farm etc...
This would work by calculating the possibility between the critters to work out the percent chance they would spawn.
e.g. you set one critter to 75% and one to 25% then that would work simply by making the first minion spawn 3 times more than the others. A more compex example could be, if you set one minion at 7%, one at 14% and one at 42%, this doesn't add up to 100 but it would mean critter 2 would spawn 3 times more than critter 1 and critter 3 would spawn 6 times more than critter 1 and 3 times more than critter 2.
Ut seems very simple and i can imagine it's something the devs could easily slot into their AE scedule as it allows more AE freedom for the player, and stops heal heavy mobs.
Now you could say i could just set them to Lt's and leave it at that, but then they would have increased health and therefore heal more and be harder to take down, which really limits possibility of a really weak but really strong minion that spawns very rarely =) -
1) it's been asked for loads, it would be awesome but the devs don't have the time/money/tech to apply this yet. which sucks.
However you do have the chance to change the colour of the fire on the hellfire minions in the demon summoning powerset. I'm guessing the devs implemented this to test how it worked.
2) You do have unlimited free trial, once your account times out, make a new one, however you will lose your characters every time.... but isn't that initiative to buy the game. -
The shadow shard is such an awesome place, but it just doesn't work the way it's currently designed, especially for task forces and missions.
-It's easily by far the biggest zone in the entire game.
-It has the least variety of enemies exempting the hami zones.
-The task forces make the most of the size of the zone, but this ends up just being tediouse kill x rularuu missions.
-the design means the only workable instance, outside of the spheres, is the large cave which makes the environment very bland and boring.
The concept has so much potential and so much room for improvement that it would be stupid not to revamp it. It could be made accessible from both hero and villain side so as to not make it just updating hero content, concidering the devs stated they were no longer making any side specific content.
(which i gather means they aren't going to remake something if it only effects one side and doesn't have something equal for the other side) -
No! The more of something you give someone to less value is has. if you have a very small ammount of something it becomes very valuable like gold, and therefore if you have an abundance of something it has very low value like sand.
This same principle applies to merits. if you give people loads of merits, they start to lose their value, which leads to people not wanting them anymore. This would make it too easy to aquire certain IO's and slavage, causing their value to deteriorate.
This deterioration of value would create a dommino effect making IO's that are less useful almost entirely worthless, as well as making those more useful and very rare even more valuable meaning that it would be even harder to earn the inf for Purple sets and the like.
Concidering this, the only way to keep the games economy balanced would be to increase the number of merits needed to purchase the IO's and salvage. However, becasue everything in game (except inf) would now be bought through merits, the merits needed to buy them would increase by a very large ammount. Now im not an expert in balance, but if merit rewards become 10x more common, and there are 10x as many items that can be bought with them then to balance the new system items would require around 20x as many merits to buy enevitably making everything more expensive.
So to conclude, adding more merits to the game, rather than making it easier, would make it a lot harder to build your character, as well as demotivating people to earn merits becasue of their very low worth. It's like, if you had the choice of spending loads of money to find gold and making a nice profit in a short amount of time, or spending very little collecting sand, but spending years of tireless labour to make the same profit, which one would you choose?? -
Yeah i've switched my pc off and on again, and flushed the dns and still no luck
i'm in need ofsome CoX therapy, someone help us poor people who can't log onto CoX =(
...
K got it working, try turning your pc off and on again and then doing the ipconfig /flushdns before starting up the CoX updater.
If your not sure how the ipconfig thingy works.
-go to the start up menu with the search bar at the bottom, should be a little windows icon in the bottom left hand corner
-in the search box type command prompt, should come up with an application of the same name
-open command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" without the " bits either side.
-it should say dns flushed or something similar.
-there your done now try opening up CoX =) -
Quote:Fiery melee has DoT in every one of it's attacks, given it's an 80% chance but it's a start.[I]I would like to see a Melee powerset that cause DoT, I envision this style attacks to look similar to karate form punches, that causes internal injury (a.k.a. Damage Overtime) kinda like how the Dev was inspired by Taijiquan for Kinetic Melee, also playing the game Godhand gave me the idea.
Personally i can see a powerset with all the attacks dealing DoT being quite tedious. you would have to wait till your enemies health was wittled down by the DoT damage for them to be defeated, plus it's really quite hard to tell whether an enemy will be defeated from your attack if it only deals DoT so this set could end up appearing very end heavy as well.
It's good that your thinking outside the box as far as concept and the way in which enemies are damaged, it just, IMHO, wouldn't be a very practical application to the game. -
I think origin specific stories would be pretty sweet. we don't have enough origin specific content in the game as it is, and there is plenty of space for it.
I probably would have created an AE arc about one of the origins, but every time i try to make an AE arc my ideas just dont conform with the tools we have, i guess thats just me being too ambitious =) -
Isn't this idea just a bit... extremely sad?
Your just giving sad lonely weirdoes an excuse to perve over fake virtual girls... yeah it's extremely sad.
I never want to see anything like this in this game, it's called city of heroes/villains for a reason. i can't imagine fighting/creating crime would be very practical in some of the crazy fashions you see on catwalks.
Ps: I've never understood why people wear such retarded cloths on catwalks, no one ever wears them, and if they did they'd look like they has some kinda of psychological problem meaning they thought the world was made of marmite fairies.
Quote:Oh dear. i feel soo sorry for you that you actually wanted this in the game... and believed it was real.I logged into the NCsoft store and I couldn't find this...the booster packs go to V...
oh and if this was meant to be a joke, congraulations you just epicly failed beyond your wildest dreams =) -
Mate!! this is brilliant, i'm gona be switchin sides like there's no tmorrow now =P
Also this is gona practically double supplies of market merch. You dev's really know how to make us happy don't ya -
I'm thinking because this is a Super Hero MMO and not a medievil MMO you wouldn't expect suits of armour running around fighting crime, and when you would see that you would get something like the roman armour, the valkarie armour, the warrior or anime armour.
Oh and we also have medievil helms and some body pieces would go nicely with that to make a nicely medievil look if you really want a suit of armour.
With a charcter customiser like we have we don't need any more suit of armour sets than we have IMHO -
From what i've read in this thread, shield is lacking without Io's but amazing with. whereas every other powerset it great without IO's and better but not as amazing as shields with IO's.
Now i have played, willpower, SR, invulnerability, and Electric armour past lvl 30(not IO'd), and have played all others pre 30 most below 14 so i don't have the best experience but i have enough to draw the conclusion i am about to make.
Out of all the sets i've played, willpower has been the most survivable, with SR being very close in second with electric armour and invuln coming in third and fourth respectively. Now defensive set's are noticably survivable, you can tell when you are dodging loads, and taking verry little damage, but one defdebuff and it's all downhill from then on. Res based sets are noticably less survivable but sustain their survivability in a far more linear way than the fluctuating mitigation of the defensive sets. when they are both strung together as a combi set, whilse you do have both primary mitigation types, you take more damage than a res set and more hits than a defense set, altogether making combo set's underwealming compared to either extreme(pre IO experience only). Now the thing which set's Willpower appart from the others is major regen capability. That is what turns it from underwealming to epic. Now with shield it is a combi set, that rather than focusing on mitigating damage in a way other than def/res focuses on increased damage and team play. These two factors are what level's it out with the other sets.
I can garuntee it now that most people saying shield is underwealming are probably playing solo or running out in front of their teams with maybe one team mate by their side. whereas those who say it is too strong are watching shields on teams playing close beside their team mates. Now when you see people with shileds in history books or movies, they are in big squadrens with other people with shields. The shield set in game is designed to work like that, you play at your best with other players arround you, you aid them with Grant Cover and the other players in turn aid you with Phalanx Fighting. Whilst you also take out enemies quicker as a way to avoid taking as much damage from them.
What people are forgetting is that shield, like HEAT's are designed to be benefitted by having team mates arround them. and without team mates don't perform to their full potential. So before you slate shield for it's survivability, try soloing a dwarf based PB/WS to lvl 50 using only TO, DO and IO's and say that is easier. And if you are now saying;
"well that's not relevant we are saying that Shield is not as powerful as other sets,"
Then try soloing a SonicRes defender to lvl 50 and tell me thats as easy as soloing any other type of defender to lvl 50.... -
I do like the idea of new armours.
However it is very hard to create a new armour set without recreating something already in the game. Some sets, in my opinion, could do with an overhaul changing quite a bit about them but obviously cottage rule makes that impossible without upsetting a buch of people who like the sets as they are.
I had a think about what armour could be done to add something different to the game and i'm stumped. Everything i came up with was in some way similar to an armour set already in the game. Illussion, Psionic, kinetic were the best i could come up with.
However, just this very second i have thought up something that could be mutated into something a bit different ;D -
Peacebringers are natural origin and they can fly and teleport as much as they want. Have a hero which can 'naturally' fly or run really fast for whatever reason =)
-
Surely Brutes have a longer duration becasue of the fact that fury makes damage buffs less effective in brutes than they would be for scrappers and tanks. therefore meaning that technically brutes are getting a weaker power that lasts longer. Hey it's balanced!! ^_^

Concidering the diversity we have with out AT's new ideas seem to be a combination of already existing powersets such as buff, defense, melee and ranged attack. So i thought what new ideas could there be??
Now it's hard to find something different to the other At's that would work in the game, an AT that had defensive and buff based powers wouldn't work because of the lack of attacks and something with primaries in purely melee attacks and secondried in purely ranged attacks would be overflowing in attacks and would be very squishy.
Now the At that people seem to want most is something along the lines of a tank mage, but this is also something that would be hard to balance arround the other At's as well as stopping it from lowering the numbers of other more restricted At's such as scrappers and blasters.
Now to make an AT more unique you have to work in reverse, and this is where my idea comes from:
Hit Points: Medium
Damage: Medium/Low
Primary: Assault (similar but not the same as the Dominators secondry)
Somewhere around a little stronger than Tanks and Defenders current damage for melee and ranged respectively.
This would have both ranged and Melee attacks as well as some other types of damage dealing powers. The definingly new power type would be a targeted damage toggle. You all know powers such as snow strom and darkest night that debuff enemies making them easier to defeat, but if you substitute the debuff for a slight bit of damage then you have yourself a nice power which can make fighting enemies more interesting.
Secondry: Debuff
Around Corruptor level, not too strong
The Secondry would have lots of debuffing moves which focused mainly on making the enemy weaker so it is harder for them to defeat you, slows and damage and accuracy debuffs would be a good example, but sets such as fire could use -res to make defeat faster so they had less time to defeat you.
Inherent: I haven't given this much thought, but an inherent resistance to Defense debuff's or a debuff bonus when your health is low could work well for this AT
I personally think this idea would be a nice new unique way to hit the AT system and would allow for fun eventful play which focussed heavily on both primary and secondry sets to make the most out of the AT. So tell me what you guys think of the idea, all feedback will be gladly appreciated (unless it's all bad >_>) -
Quote:It's designed like an F1 car =P nice. And that is one hench fan O_OPerformance wise no. But the fan shroud on the Asus is just plain silly (look at the 360 view).
Btw is the training room known to be more laggy than the servers, because if so my current card shouldn't have too much trouble with ultra mode -
Hey, i logged onto the training room the other day for i17's beta only to notice there was a server labeled "WorldServer".
now i havent been on the training room for a long while so i don't know how long this has been there but what and why is it there. is it some sort of test to see if they can merge the EU and US servers???? =O -
TBH this is probably pretty crappy news to all the kinetic defenders out there.
If you can easily reach the damage bonus cap then an added 30% isn't going to be much use is it....
I would have thought, a static end redux bonus would have been more fitting, or a different way of improving damage, maybe better recharge to slot nicely into the current end reduction.
I mean don't get me wrong it's a nice buff, just not as helpful as it could have been if done differently...
but then again what do i know i don't play defenders -
Quote:Have you never heard of PBAoE farms???? You get a team full of player who have fully slotted PbAoE attacks, get everyone to put them on auto hit and run to the laggiest part of the map.I should find a way to exploit the lag in the ITF for more xp. Maybe it'd actually get fixed then....
Then everyone sits there are the PBAoE's knock out all the cims whilst the lag stops them taking out the whole team.
Oh wait, Now the devs are gona fix that!!!
(teeheehee)
Also if the allies thing means that an 8 man sized ally ambush of about 12 or so enemies will catastrophically reduce the number of exp the player gains then i've lost even more faith in the AE system....
Allies already reduce the exp you get when they steal some of it.
Maybe making it so that allies with support powers or no attack powers reduce the exp gain, that could work... better -
I garuntee if they implemented this you would end up complaining how annoying it was and how they implemented it wrong even if they followed your description to the T.
trust me im good at predicting things
