Quote:That's kinda my general feeling. I'm hoping these changes put Stalkers in a 'league of their own' when it comes to ST damage, but we'll see when they get tested. What I was trying to say is that the current game design so strongly favors AoE over ST, that I don't know if the above changes give us enough of a lead in ST to make up for that overall lack. There is a point where the ST damage is so high that even if all stalker sets were nerfed to remove all AoE it wouldn't matter. There is a point, a bit below that where I hope they make us end up. Since the changes are wrapped up so much in AS, I'm not sure that's enough to get us there until I play it. My other posts mention that if you give AoE back to the sets that lost them, make it weaker, I'm not saying make stalkers into aoe powerhouses, I'm was trying (and failing I admit) to say the game favors aoe powerhouses and I don't know if we can beat them yet.
Essentially, when we can be significantly ahead of scrappers on the rikti pylon test then we're there. Because all the aoe in the world doesn't help there.
Personally, until AS can kill bosses in 1 blow and our other ST hits have higher base damage without crits than scrappers, I don't think we're there. But I'm willing to be proven wrong. -
Quote:If they are appropriate items, they wouldn't upset the game balance at all, but would provide a nice 'theme' to a character, which I would likely pay for.I'd be all on that for the gadget attacks. Of course, some of the current temp powers out there really ought to be 'you should have a limited amount on hand'. See: Recovery Serum, and Power Analyzer series.
They already gave me a Nemesis Staff, a Blackwand, Sands of Mu, and an Undead Slaying Axe, what would a baseball bat hurt? :P -
Permanent versions of current 'temp' powers (e.g. baseball bat) for per character use.
Want to make a Baseball player themed character? Buy the permanent (unlimited) use baseball bat!
Creating a bee-inspired archer? Purchase and use the Vial of Bees permanent temporary power!
I think many people have little interest in a 30-use baseball bat purchasable at the store, but if I can have it on my character and not have to worry about counting the uses of it! Oooh yeah! Homerun!
Note: Preferrably with a permanent beginner's luck-inspired Accuraccy bonus too, as who doesn't slot two Acc SOs or more worth of Accuraccy in their attacks (and who fights +0s?) -
I agree with Dr. Mechano, I think the 'exclusive' costume parts should be removed from the 'insert coin to try and grab machine', and believe by doing so, you will eliminate the majority of the player frustration.

Quote:Just make sure you are comparing their value to large teams versus buff/debuff ATs and AoE death machines (ala Blasters/VEATs). They should be 'quite desirable' for what they add to the team as they must compete with other ATs that add a lot to teams. We're testing three improvements to stalkers in i22:
-Assassin's Strike: using Assassin's Strike outside of hide will be an uninterruptible attack with no windup time, dealing Superior damage. This will allow Stalkers to do very competitive dps.
-All Stalker attacks that are not Assassin's Strike will build stacks of a buff called Assassin's Focus. Assassin's Focus increases your chance to critically strike with the out-of-hide Assassin's Strike.
-Stalker Buffed Max HP will be increased by about 400. This should allow them to fully benefit from powers like dull pain, hoarfrost, etc.
-These changes to Stalkers should make them very competitive top-end damage dealers, and help them with their early attack chain since they can use Assassin's Strike mid-combat.
The effectiveness of an Assassin's Strike is often outmatched by other ATs abilities, such as:
1) I will taunt and/or use taunt auras to take nearly all damage for the team
2) I will buff the team to make the incoming damage to the team largely irrelevant
3) I will lay waste to a massive x8 spawn of baddies in seconds with my AoE attacks
If an AS could quickly and easily take out a problematic boss, I could see them competing easily with these ATs. But when their only comparison is 'I deal single target DPS on par or close to Dominators and Scrappers', I think they lose a little bit of appeal, when those other ATs often add additional abilities to the team (and yes, I am aware not all Scrappers have a taunt aura, but at least they always remain on the 'threat' list.)
Anyways, that is just my opinion on the matter, I would like to see Stalkers be one of 'ooo, get a Stalker!' ATs that you really want on your team. -
Quote:There used to be a lot more discussion about Stalkers, but I get the general feeling that most people have just given up.I do think part of the major problems why Stalker isn't getting any better because we don't make enough noise. As sad as it sounds, the larger the noise you make, the better the service is.
Famous players like Arcanville usually come up crazy maths for Brute, scrapper, blaster..etc but I rarely see any good discussion on stalkers. Yes, there are select few stalker fans that talk about this AT but in general, there is not enough "noise" made that can be heard by the dev. -
Both of your ideas sit well with me.
Scale the AS up so that having a Stalker on the team adds significant DPS versus tough targets. Make them unquestionably the 10/10 Melee AT they are designed to be.
And I like the idea of lowering their HP to CoV launch levels. I'd rather they trade survivability and aggro control for significantly more damage than Brutes/Scrappers. -
And Dual Pistols with Super Reflexes type agility is often the iconic Dual Pistols type character in books/movies.

I'll likely pick this up if it's on a Black Friday sale.
Along we a few of the other 'overpriced' (in my opinion) items out there. -
The dog pet is a super cool item, but very much not priced in my price range.

Quote:I filed a petition about this. They mentioned it was a known issue and by logging out and back in it should resolve itself. My apologies you're experiencing this.
If you haven't already, please file a petition regarding this so that CS can investigate and address the issue. At a glance, I'm not seeing widespread reports of the issue, so my suspicion is that this might be something specific to your account.
That said, it is happening very frequently on this current build, and is quite a nuisance. -
It's a system designed to make money.
That said, I'm keeping mine. -
This seems to be popping up again and again when I log in.
Locks: You do not have access to Masterminds on this account
Locks: You have not purchased Beam Rifle
Etc, etc.
Sure, if I log back out and in it will often fix itself, but jeez, I don't want to not be able to log in my Beam Rifle character 1/3 of the time because the server can't figure out I actually purchased it. -
Quote:Not happy at all with the pet changes.When I discovered this ingame I logged a petition/support ticket as follows;
Me:
Support:
Well its official, the developers meant it. WHAT?!? The character I discovered it on has a design that is based around having lots of robots around him. Why take this away?
And why reward players with multiple pets if they can't even use them? Some reward! I feel really ripped off.I have earnt, and paid for, these with time in the game as a loyal customer for 5 years. I want them back!
The toggle, the animation change, not digging either of those, but losing the ability to have my vanity pet out with my wisp, kinda detracts from a couple of characters I had that took great joy in using the vanity pet. -

I was under the understanding that part of the reason it hasn't been implemented yet is that it required UI work (adding menus to the power customization screen), which required the coders (who are very busy).
At least, that is what my memory says was the latest stated hurdle to power pool customization. -
Provided there is a hurdle to providing power pool customization, how about putting a 'quick fix' option in Null the Gull.
*I would like Hasten with standard effects
*I would like Hasten with no FX
Provided this is one of the 'big' options people seem to want for power pools, could we maybe sneak this change in prior to doing all of the other powers? -
All they need to do is give Hasten a 'No FX' option, and I'll be happy.
-
The niche you want was filled by VEATs, ranged attacks with mez protection/armor.
Would be nice to have a less focused theme AT that has similar effects.
That said, they seem to want things to have a cleanly crafted AT niche, and I'm not sure it would make it through marketing to introduce an AT like this, as cool as it would be. But maybe, just maybe. -
Quote:http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Damage_Cap#DamageIt's an approach to AE mission design targeted fairly specifically at Brutes, that exemplars you to extremely low level. At very low levels, mobs give an exemplared level 50 much higher rewards/HP. Many ATs can't leverage this strongly, because at very low levels, you have few attacks, and your enhancements are degraded to miniscule levels.
Brute damage cap at level 1: 775%
All other ATs damage cap at level 1: 210% or less
No other AT was able to leverage the AE in the way Cebr did. Only a Brute (with a damage aura and/or AoE attack by level 6) could kill fast enough to be able to sustain capped damage/defense at level 1. -
Wiping insps upon entry.
Sounds reasonable to me, and exactly one of the fixes TopDoc suggested. No more capping out the 775% damage cap on a level 1 Brute.
Side effect for regular players: minimal
