Who *don't* you want to die?

Just something for fun, since everyone has been discussing and guessing Who Will Die, and even who they want to die.

Which Signature Hero do you *not* want to die? if any. Given the lack of development on the signature heroes (without reading the comics) I can't say there are many that I'm attached to.

I'd be kinda sad if Sister Psyche bites it. Much as it seems every promotional appearance focuses on her bust size, I've always had a soft spot for psychics.

So how bout you guys? Is there any particular hero you don't want to see bite it?

I'm agnostic about it. I confess to a certain irrational attachment to some of the trainers, but the TF contacts - who are, apart from Brawler, the ones on the table here, IIRC - I'm not so bothered about. Except maybe Numina. That would just seem unfair, given that she's been killed twice already. I imagine she's getting rather tired of it.

None of the females. Would just rather not add more fuel to the WIR fire that is raging on the boards.

I would prefer for Manticore and Sister Psyche to survive since such a big deal was made about the wedding. It would be too tragic if one of them died. For that reason, I don't think it will be either of them.

Statesman is the 'face' of the game, so I think he's safe.
The unseen speaker said the obelisk won't work on a spirit, so Numina is safe (if we take him at face value).
Since Citadel is not human, I think he's safe for the same reason.

Personally, I think either Positron (maybe) or Synapse (most likely, IMO) will die and the 'man without a zone' (Back Alley Brawler) will take over as contact for that task force.

well the obelisk just won't take her powers but that doesn't mean they can't still use it to just kill her.

and yeah I don't see it being Statesman either, he seems too iconic to kill off. But that may be all the more reason for them to do it if we're really going for utter shock value here. Likewise, the same for Manticore and Psyche since one of them dying would be the most hard hitting.

I kind of agree that Synapse and positron seem the most likely. Actually from simply poking at the lore, Synapse seems to be killed now and again >> So, him biting it might be 'too obvious'.

Frankly I don't think we really have enough clues to guess accurately who will die, we know they're going to cycle through everyone before the big finish in March, or give us a big red herring (like positron is the only one not 'targeted' until the 7th one, only to have it be a hero sacrificing themselves ot stop his death or something).

I *really* don't want Sister Psyche to die ... because I *really* want to see her in a Brain Cells Grudge Match, Woman(o)-a-Woman(o), against Mother Mayhem. That battle would be so totally awesome!

Statesman I WANT TO KILL PERSONALLY.
I'm not only hoping it'll be Statesman, but actively gunning for him to BITE IT ... so as to leave a Power Vacuum within Primal Earth that can only be filled by (you guessed it), TENS OF THOUSANDS of Players! I'm banking on the Primal Well of the Furies breaking with the patterns seen in the alternate dimensions (pick one Uber-hero/villain and power them exclusively) so as to take the "shotgun approach" of creating a Weenie Horde of pint-sized Incarnates who collectively, and through diversity can be far stronger and more survivable than the Single Point Of Failure choice(s) that the Well has been making in other dimensions (Tyrant, Reichsman, etc.).

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Honestly, that might happen just so there's lore behind the rest of the incarnate trees opening up all of a sudden.

I hope it's not Synapse!

I'm his number one fan, as you can see by my avatar.

Everyone but States. Sure, he knocked the mothership the **** out, but what has he done lately?

BaBs, because he's pretty much the only of the group who isn't really obnoxious, and it's just way too cliched to kill off the old guy who's supposed to be "retired".

I also sorta would like to keep Manticore around, because while he's a tool, he's less bland of a tool than the rest of the Phalanx, which is kind of nice. But I'm pretty much certain it's him at this point, which is unfortunate.

Everyone else, though, I'd be happy to see go.

I'd be very if they picked Synapse... I'm fond of that goofball.

This is exactly who I don't want to be the victim of Who Will Die, for many of the same reasons. Also, I don't understand all of the Statesman hate that permeates the playerbase. Usually it sounds like the typical "Screw you, Father/Authority Figure!" response that usually comes out of know-it-alls, and other times it's just nimrods who refuse to segregate character from creator.

I'm foreseeing a future in which Galaxy City becomes a new home for future Praetorians emigrating from their dimension with Tyrant repenting his sins and, surprise-surprise, becoming a NEW Statesman...

Wouldn't that be a gas?

If you're scratching your head and wondering how THAT could be a good idea, you'd be in the same boat as I am.

Numina. She was created by a fan and killing her off would suck.

I'm indifferent about all the others. None of them really have any personality.

None of the phalanx has been really fleshed out it feels like, their praetorian counterparts feel ALOT MORE in-depth. I'd care more about praetor white dying than BaB. I like manticore a little bit more than the rest solely because of the Shining Stars Arc.

Statesman feels too important to die, and if they DO kill him it'll just feel like they're doing it for shock value.

I guess Synapse can die, he doesn't really seem to do much of anything

I'd hate to see Ms.Liberty die. I would love for it to be Statesman who deserves it by going & making a horrible MMO to compete with my beloved COH. I don't care that he helped make COH. Death to Statesman. Besides for him to be that powerful & to keep getting captured by Tyrant just proves he's useless. He just runs off on his own in other mission when you have to team with him. Not enough aspirin for the headache he creates.

For me it's that he is a Mary Sue that I haven't actually seen him do any of this cool **** he is supposedly capable of.

Well, that's actually kind of the point. This is supposed to be something that sends ripples through the universe, and sort of the problem with killing off one of the 'lesser' members of the Phalanx, because it won't have that much impact.

Then again, we're supposed to feel something for Miss Liberty getting murdered and.. well we really don't since she had no development and is basically a set piece.

So, who knows. But I don't think we can really rule out anyone for being 'too important', that could be the very reason they do get killed.

Pretty much here's how it goes for me:

Who I wouldn't mind to see die-

1. Citadel: His TF has made me loathe any fifth/council missions in the mid twenties up due to the endless sound of full auto. (worse than high level Nemesis since you at least have flamethrower 'woosh'ing in between) Plus, for being one of the first robots according to the game's lore, he doesn't feel very interesting.*

2. Synapse: He left a very very bad impression on me in the "Origin of Power" arc and was a complete idiot in the first part of the Who Will Die Arc, worse than Alexis going to negotiate with an unstable Blitz.
And to be honest, having a friend who plays a cocky speedster better as well as being a fan of the Flash, I can't help but feel Paragon studios did do a great job handling the character as a whole.

Now not to say either of these characters cannot become appealing or should die, I just would feel the least impact from their deaths and feel more interesting characters could step up.

Who I would like to see injured but survive (or specifically rerolled)-

1. Back Alley Brawler: This is mostly because when he was created in issue one, we didn't have a lot of powers that fit the bill of a guy like him. But now we could totally have him become the Street Justice/Willpower toon he was clearly always meant to be!

2. Statesman: In this case, it's just me thinking it would be cool to see States become a shield/electric tank (because a dude who's led his team for so long and love Greek themes so much would honestly go WITHOUT Grant Cover or PHALANX fighting?), and from a story point it makes sense in my head. With Tyrant getting so much of the Well's support and Statesman having been uncooperative with it, it would just make sense that the Well would get frustrated with how complacent States can be as well as knowing he's standing in the way of it's current champion and pull all support from him.

Who I want to live-

Positron, Numina, Manticore, and Sister Psyche: I'm partly a sucker for romance, but with the developments they've gotten, it would feel kind of mean to just kill them now. Though maybe Positron should go into the second list since he should maybe consider UPGRADING HIS DAMN ARMOR once in awhile.*

*Admittedly, in the case of these guys, it's because I've always had this beef with tech based characters where their appearances and abilities tend to be very static and remain as such. It's something I've personally never liked since it doesn't capture the ever-progressing spirit of technology.

I don't really care who dies. None of the Freedom Phalanx/Surviving 8/Vindicators are characters. They're all cardboard standies lacking characterization.

Yeah there was a contest pre-game asking for people to create a member of the Surviving 8. I can't remember the name of the player who designed Numina though.

Interestingly, Poison entered with a character of his called Scirocco that wasn't too dissimilar to the villain patron we eventually got a couple of years later!

That would make me so happy. If all the Phalanx died in a fire and Numina just casually phase shifts.
