  1. What teleport could use is a reduction in end consumption. No travel power should drain your end bar these days.
  2. hmm upping the system requirements.

I'm on a low end system (though I did upgrade to 2 gigs of memory and the game plays much better now).

I am on that razor's edge of a threshold between being tolerable for playing the game and being so annoying that its not worth playing without a computer upgrade.

Updating the game to an even more modern computer would end up driving me out until I could get a new computer.
  3. At one time I did move around a lot while fighting, now I find that I don't move around all that much, mainly because the longer animation times on some attacks just keep me rooted in place until the mobs are dead.
It all boils down to this the longer the animation times of a character the less likely I am to move them around after the initial positioning has been set up.
  4. aww man I learned a ton from the commodore. It was a great computer for its time.
  5. Science is my favorite and I believe my most used origin. I like the idea that the character was once normal.. and now isn't. Sometimes its something they volunteered to do, others its an accident, and then sometimes something has been done to them. Its very diverse and allows for very different background filler with multiple characters. The origin just speaks the most to me. *nods*

(P.S. More science based villains please)

    Honorable mention:
Magic. Out of all the origins.. Magic is the most defined in game and has THE MOST lore revolving around it. From the gods that provide enhancement boosters (Grey is my personal favorite) to the banished Pantheon and the Circle of Thorns verses Mu.. When you start to really pay attention to how the magic origin came about it really is well done and highly detailed. Very awesome stuff and lots to work with.
  6. Well the first thing that comes to mind for me after watching the MMORPG video of the i23 trail was... they should have started him out on a blaster.

The blaster is the only fire and forget AT in the game that has no actual role, other then to do damage. The Blaster has no one to buff, no one to protect, no control powers to juggle. You don't have defenses to worry about turning on armors (as the guy in the video didn't know how to do) its effective at multiple ranges, finally a team makes you better as you have room to grow offensively and defensively more so then other ATs and the larger the team gets the more likely that a blaster's weakness is shored up.

It is the easiest AT in the game to just pick up and play without needing any special instructions, or extra explaining to do. Yes the blaster gets harder to play in the higher levels but in the early levels when you are first learning the game the Blaster AT does very well.
  7. Blaster: Elec/Elec
    Tanker: Inv/SS
    Brute: SS/Regen
    Defender: FF/Psi
    Dominator: Fire/Fire
    Controller: Gravity/Kin
Corruptor: toxic blasts or thorns(not available)/posion
    Mastermind: Bots/Time
    Scrapper: Ma/invuln
    Stalker: Nin/Nin
  8. Time card every two months... 30 bucks.
    One time purchase.. 5 dollars.

So not all that much more then I was spending. I think I have around 3000 paragon points saved up. Since everything I purchase is via the VIP sub bonus points if I want something I generally wait for it to go on sale and then pick it up.
  9. If I won... I'd add the following into City of Heroes...

Graphical overhall yes again (Hey I'd have a computer that could run the best rather then struggles with the worst for a change.) additionally hold a monthly contest to win a new top of the line gaming rig.. event would be based upon Character Concepts and background and be revolving to a different server every month as well as a different time periods.

Climbing. We would be able to climb walls and ceilings.

All caves would get a revamp. No more knocking mobs through cavern walls. No more donut room and cramped caverns.

Lighter/brighter/colorful maps. I love DA.. just wish the overall effect was brighter and less wall of blackness can't see two feet in front of me and then realize that I'm pressed up against a dark building in a dark background... I want DA to look like its screen shots. That visual eye popping color that stands out from the darkness around it. I find with adjusting my gamma its a very fine like between.. can not see a thing and everything looks washed out.

Minimal Graphic option.. yes the option to turn off buff graphical visuals that do not belong to you. The game can get so busy graphically that you just can't see anything. Added to that.. ignore custom color option (ie always display default colors) very important when someone decides to color their Sonic Bubble bright pink...

The Buff bar in the team window... shut off all buffs that do not belong to you. (really hate seeing that go across the screen)

Adding a Gamma correction icon thingy.. so that gamma can be adjusted to how the game should appear to everyone. (again that washed out look, or so dark you can't see a darn thing.. knowing how the devs meant something to be seen would be helpful in what was their intentions verse my settings)

and then I'd let the devs go crazy with whatever they think would make me money and keep them employed cause I'd own the company...
  10. I think of things like Armor/assault, assault/armor, Armor/ranged, Ranged/Armor, Control/armor and Armor/control.
  11. I'd try something new with KR and shoot for a no level sort of thing. A place you can go to regardless of level and have adventures there. This makes it an unlimited option for any player to do regardless of level. Storyarcs would be TF's that have the ability to be started by a single person ala the SSA arcs. Each could deal with a different faction Hero arcs, vig arcs, Villian arcs and Rogue arcs. Each one dealing with a different enemy group found with in it. A Trial that deals with Paladin attacking the city, and another Trial that causes Paladin to attack the city for villains.

There are lots of hero and villain tales to tell within a zone like that. Stories that are timeless. I'd just like to see something different then oh its a 5-20 zone, or 15-30.. a zone that you can just go back to whenever you want to experience the content within, without having to flashback down and run all over creation to do so.

There are patches that should be coming down the pipe at some point. One of the patch notes said that they were going to allow Dim Shift to take ATIOs.
  13. Samuel Pierce Science contact for Kings' Row. Level 5-9

Only way to get the contact now is to run the scanner mission from Kings' Row and then to pick the contact that goes up against the Vahzilok. Neither of those is done very often these days and I doubt that newer players know that they exist.

Though all the KR contacts are up there as obscure these days, no story arcs, only one contact has a badge mission and its easy enough to flashback and get it later in the game.

At least with the shadowshard you can go always go there eventually to check the place out.
  14. I've been playing a number of blasters lately and they follow a similar trend..

1-10 every AT is awesome. Heck brawl is awesome in these levels.

10-20 Blasters do very well here. No one really has any damage but the blaster. This is the heyday of blasters imo, a time when they are true damage dealers and make a difference when on a team.

20-30 issues start cropping up. People make the jump into SO. All but controllers start to become attackers. Solo most ATs increase their settings not just by the level of foes fought but by the number of foes fought when solo. Blasters depending on type can do one or the other but not both, my blasters will typically die at least one or twice a session in these levels. Because of the way exemplaring is done now other ATs have access to cool abilities from their secondary, typically blasters just get more attacks.

30-40 Blasters have capped out offensively and the mobs HP are greatly zipping past, this reduces the overall offensive advantage that blasters had.

40-50 Blaster have still capped out offensively but other ATs do to their epic pools have now caught up, while the blaster wasn't able to catch up defensively. Mob HP verse damage is still an issue as are the number of Mezzing foes. Harder targets are actually hard for a blaster but are not all that much harder for other ATs. A purple Lt for example end up doing more damage to a blaster then to any other AT most of the time.

Incarnate level play. Level Shifts make the blaster far more effective do to the nature of level shifts. Lack of defense isn't a hindrance, lots of offense especially AOE is a boon. Though no AT sucks.. its like being back at the start of the game where every AT is awesome.
  15. Grav/Kin/Primal

My build most likely won't be changing, I already have enough recharge that Crush/GD by itself is an attack chain. propel and power blast are there to just add some alternate attacks. I already had dim shift slotted in the build, I lost the perma aspect to dim shift but I didn't need that often. Impact on beta didn't seem to make that much of an impact with the foes I fought.. something that took two shots to kill still took two shots only it was deader and it wasn't quite enough to push most foes that I would be fighting and taking 3 slots to kill into two shot territory.

I will be making a new gravity controller at some point, just deciding on the secondary still.

I once spent HOURS running around in Lunar Silver Star Story (on the sega CD) pressing A, B, B, A everywhere looking for some magical hidden room because I thought the NPC was telling me to press A, B, B, A to find it. Finally I got frustrated and called the tip line (because I was a kid back then and it was the thing to do when you got stuck in a game)... they were wondering what I was talking about and so I pointed them to the NPC and told them what they said, they informed me that it was a joke about ABBA the musical group, and I was like The Who.. and they said no ABBA, The Who are a different group. I was not the most musically inclined kid.
  17. I think I would go with Kheldians.

Its not that I don't like them because I do like them, but the fact that they have no powerset picks seriously limits them. Once I played a PB or WS.. if I wanted to try out a human only build, or triform, or just a 'pure' kheldian with no pools.. I don't need a new character as I can just use an alternate build. The only incentive to make a PB or WS after the first is if I want to play a similiar character on a different server.
  18. What do my villians want?

Dominator Grav (grav/energy) The character is from an alternate dimension where the Rikti won. The character was then sent out to explore dimensions and report back to her masters to aid them in their conquest. She wants to help the Rikti control the multiverse. She was on the losing side of a war, so switched sides. She's a survivor first and foremost I suppose.

Rheostat: Elec/elec Brute. The character wants power.. not like physical power actual electrical energy, she feeds off the stuff and gets stronger from it. The character would rob a bank.. not to rob the bank but because she was drawn to the back up generator for an afternoon snack.

Mayham Monty: Bots/ff MM. The character just wants to survive. They were technologically brilliant.. too brilliant and are now held hostage by the very machines that they designed when they became self aware, the only thing keeping him alive are his force fields, the only thing keeping them in check are his forcefields so he's basically stuck going with them and aiding them.

Flickerflash: Fire/Fire Brute. The character basically wants to spit on everything that their mother stands for. Always placed second over everything else while her mother was off saving the city.. that bitterness turned to resentment, which turned to hate and when her powers manifested she just burned everything down that she could. Basically a 20 something running around throwing a giant fit because life didn't go their way and her parents ignored her.
  19. I'm thinking... Dark/Dark and maybe Gravity/Dark (siggy and fluffy in the same group yes please)

Those are most of the constraints that informed my build choices.

And, really, don't worry about me making the build at this point. I just want to understand what goes where and why it goes there.
My advice is this... Take your concept and apply it to the invention system. When you do that it becomes much easier to play around with.

For example going by your description of Jun you can break down what set bonuses you should look for and fits your concept.

    Speed/agility.. recharge, movement increases.

Wits: Tatics on your end. You don't just duke it out, they know when to retreat and recover. So for me that says Regeneration and recover.

Punches really hard: Damage, and damage procs, but with no magic/spiritually you would want to look at only Smashing and Lethal. Neg energy wouldn't make sense as a proc for example.

No hold bars fighting: that to me says Endurance and Health. The character can dish out a beating and take one.

So look though the sets and keep your concept in mind is my advice. Don't worry about soft capping, or six slotting with a single power.

Example build.. and I know it could be better but at least its a starting point (just tossed it together didn't play around all that much with it.. very rough initial build). Everything about the build was building towards speed, recharge, hitpoints, bonus damage.. while at the same time playing with the enhancer values to get most of them as high as I could for a first past without spending all day on it.

    http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...5DEBBFB02FF27F

Finally leave yourself open to change. Very rarely have my mid's build survived intact as a playable build because I find I hit points that I go its "good enough" and alter the character build on the fly while still keeping the concept in mind and the feel of how the character plays. To me how the characters feels while playing is more important then if I get that extra 2.5 damage, or 3.13 defense.

As for the cost.. no clue but I didn't use purple sets and I used some uncommonly used sets. I look at builds as long term projects rather then a must be done now but I don't like to build out a fully purple'd out build with PvP procs as that's typically outside of the price range. (unless its my main and then its a multibillion purple'd out number with insane recharge)
  21. I play my Beam rifle/Energy blaster at range. I really like the combination. Its straightforward and easy to play. The character is about level 40 now give or take a level. I know that beam isn't all the popular but the combination is a ton of fun.
  22. I like the one a month aspect of the SSA but I wish it was more consistent on when it was coming out.

For all we know the next SSA could get released on the first Tuesday in feb or the last Tuesday in feb. It can make for a long wait.

Personally I'd like to see them come out on the first Tuesday of each month.

then again maybe they already come out on a specific week and I've just not paid attention to that fact.
  23. Powerset: Gravity Control or Elec Armor

Single Power: Flight.... superspeed I'd get hit by a car, Super Jump I'd impale myself on a tree.. Teleport I'd end up teleporting into something.. so flight would be the safest and I could finally get over my fear of heights and make one heck of a living just flying around wooing the crowd.
  24. Control Set... Gravity Control.

    Buff/debuff set: FF, Kinetics.

    Armor sets: Elec and Invuln

Melee: Anything.. no go to power in melee yet.

Ranged: Beam Rifle, Duel Pistols, and Energy

    MM.. Robots.

    Assault: Energy
