War Witch and Zwillinger at 35:41 minutes from Off The Cape: Issue 33 – Are you a Good War Witch, or a Bad War Witch?...

"I don't even know if they've figured out the Easter Egg in Praetoria yet. I don't remember reading about that one Easter Egg with the Clockwork Venders. I don't know if they've figured it out yet."

"Whaaaaat?"

"I just gave a major hint though, just now."

"Uh, oh. Now we're going to see like a forum thread pop up 'What's This Easter Egg?!?' "

"And I never said one word because I wanted people to kinda discover it on their own. I kept it secret. Maybe I just didn't catch the forum post but I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any."

Well, I couldn't find the Easter Egg reference on the forums or Wiki.

Anyone know what Easter Egg was hidden by Melissa related to the Praetoria Clockwork Venders?

And also: Of course a forum thread would be made, Zwillinger! We couldn't make a liar of you or our new producer from neglect.

Count me intrigued. I might attempt to hunt for this since I haven't played Praetoria for a while... (my poor Lv6 corruptor).

Well... Duh... Maybe the reason why it hasn't been found is that Praetoria is pretty much devoid of players. In zones where you get returning players asking if they suck, would you really expect players to linger?

About the same time, War Witch at 34:40 minutes:

"Well, you wanna know why I was a little bit distraught why we got rid of Galaxy City? Because there's actually a movie theater (Stephanie Peebles stood in front of the movie theater) and there was a movie poster in our one movie theater and it had me on it. And it was an Easter Egg with me on it. Then we trashed the city and I was very upset. There is a picture of me on one of those posters with my name if you look really, really closely. My husband and myself are in that picture. It's hilarious!"

I couldn't find that on the forums or Wiki either, so of course I had to check it out.

Sure enough there is Melissa Bianco in Echo: Galaxy City! She is in the bottom left of a movie poster with her name at the top of the credits on the right. - Link to screenshot proof

The poster is the second one out on the right when facing the doors. It replaces the Psychadelic Heroes poster found at the Kings Row movie theater.

Isn't there a movie theater in Kings Row?

If I had to guess, I would imagine the Easter Egg regarding the Clockwork stores in Praetoria has to do with the numerical portions of their names. The only odd thing I noticed right away, is that NONE of them in the 6 zones out of all 13 Vendors has a '1' in the name. No one. Hell, that could be the joke itself. She keeps saying "no one has found it." There is no one.

But I doubt it.

All of the numbers are:

  • Nova: 56-925, 73-783, 87-878
  • UG Nova: 878-84
  • Imperial: 25-378, 53-276, 62-397
  • UG Imp.: 844-45
  • Neutropolis: 36-287, 48-273, 73-223
  • UG Neu.: 583-43, 782-63

A simple 'A=1, B=2' type code doesn't seem to yield anything useful... but I didn't do all of them, maybe they all add up to some long super-anagram as the studio is famous for doing. But if that is the case, what kinda message doesn't have a single 'A' in it anywhere?

Has anyone considered they may be pulling your leg? Because it seems to me that the easiest way to make a great mystery for players to solve in this game is to not make any mystery at all and just suggest there might be one. Players will be inventing explanations for it for years to come.

Totally possible. And certainly not outside of the realm of things they as a studio would do... but how are we to know which it is?

I don't think she is pulling our leg. There more than likely is an explanation behind it all.

Of course... anyone wondered where all the names from the soldiers in Firebase Zulu came from?

Last time I approached P561332687 to ask about it, his face was on sideways.

Didn't War Witch let slip a long while back that there was another Easter Egg in the RWZ that no one has found yet? Something involving a mail box?

I once spent HOURS running around in Lunar Silver Star Story (on the sega CD) pressing A, B, B, A everywhere looking for some magical hidden room because I thought the NPC was telling me to press A, B, B, A to find it. Finally I got frustrated and called the tip line (because I was a kid back then and it was the thing to do when you got stuck in a game)... they were wondering what I was talking about and so I pointed them to the NPC and told them what they said, they informed me that it was a joke about ABBA the musical group, and I was like The Who.. and they said no ABBA, The Who are a different group. I was not the most musically inclined kid.

I don't know that game, but on the old Sega system, A, B, B, A, C, A, B often unlocked a cheat if you entered that in the start menu. At least I know it did for Shadowrun (awesome game) and Mortal Kombat, and a few others off the top of my head. However, I've slept since then. It may have been hinting to that?

...

I need to plug my Sega back into the TV and play Shadowrun again sometime soon...

EDIT: Are those numbers coordinates in the game? I never did learn how to read them to find stuff.

I couldn't agree more.

Once she mentioned it, it was found. Forgot what it was about.

The only Easter Egg I ever found interesting was the Dev office in the tunnels under Grandville which has since been 'trashed.' All the others have been way too timid.

For those wondering, all the surnames of the soldiers are surnames from those who attended the 2008 Omega Sektor Mini Con in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Every so often I find my own surname, a rather distinctive and rare one, and it makes me smile.
