Quote:As many others have said it is possible without pets, there was a video doing the rounds of a rad/sonic def soloing Adamastor years ago, I don't think any pets were used, although I can't remember whether they had an Amy, pretty sure no nukes/shivans/HVAS.I disbelieve that, sorry. Someone once ran the numbers and showed that there were only a couple specific builds that could solo a GM. All of them use pets, whether inherent or temp. I want to take my Blaster to Monster Island and punch one in the face without dying instantly. No one can do that.

Quote:I just run 1-10 in AE (solo, non farm stuff) and bronze roll at 10, so tend to have a lvl 10 -KB anyway, if it's the wrong one, it'll near enough pay for the right one.I do too.
I needed a level 10 Karma knockback resistance IO for a new toon. Uncrafted, it was selling for 4 million. Crafted, it was selling for 45 million.
But there were ZERO for sale at 4 million, so I'd have had to place the bid and perhaps wait a day or two or three to get one. But hey, I can just go and get one for 1 or 2 hero merits and save myself 4 million, and get it now, right?
Wrong. Because for 2 hero merits I can buy a LoTG +Rech recipe at level 25 and sell it for 180 million. Which I did. Then I splurge 50 million on the crafted Karma and come out 130 million ahead. Plus, I can keep rolling with my new toon without having to wait around for perhaps days.
Easy decision. -
This is roughly how it can work, I've seen this a few times:
The mob type exists at level 29 and level 36 but not in between, you are level 33.
36 is the closest level to you at +0 so it spawns at 36.
You set to -1, it looks for a level 32 version, fails to find one, 29 is closer to 32 than 36 so it spawns in a 29.
There are also some nemesis lieuts that are slightly broken in that a standard spawn can be a single +2 when you're set to +0/0. -
Quote:Been setting some TFs to +3/4 for ages (long before incarnates), relieves the reactor room boredom for example.i agree with the above....also u can set your tf to +4 for more edge... also the incaranate system is designed in a way that ppl won't be bothered to take full incarnate powers to all their 50s..........so 2-5 OP toons of 20-50 (or more) is not such a big thing
Most people just want the rewards off TFs so don't up the diff, but for fun or if several people are getting XP, then I normally do.
I may not have much of a life, but fully incarnating 63 50s is beyond me, I've T3 or better alphad twentysomething, but will concentrate on 5 or 6 for the other slots, just too grindy. -
Was your tank level 50 ? Mez prot scales up with level, and it's quite common to be stunned at lower level by ink men for example.

There's something about the shape of the face that made me think of Munch's "The scream".
Screaming spectre or similar is possible, not checked it. Cool costume though. -
Not noticed the issues with the incarnate stuff, but several issues with the electric powersets.
I always play with suppressclosefx active, and if you turn on all the electric armor powers, you'll find that not all of them actually disappear, and the effect causes me to only be able to use them in dark colors.
Static field - the lingering pulsing effect causes one member of our SG not to be able to team with anybody with this power as it triggers his migraines and epilepsy. This player also has issues with electric armor powers on other people, which are mitigated slightly by them being in dark colors unless the floor color is light. -

OK, two of my friends who've been gone a loooong time have reactivated.
They appear to be able to access toons that they created in praetoria the last reactivation period.
They wanted to see the incarnate system, but can't talk to Ramiel getting the message that they don't have going rogue.
Can we find out what they're supposed to be able to access, and if the incarnate system is off limits, what's the point in the reactivation weekend ? -
The list merge having happened, I'd definitely like to come to this. I can't bring a laptop, but would gladly share a machine both days.
-
Yup, useless to me, 36 slots on Victory all full, already have a load of slots stacked up unused for elsewhere.
Free character transfers would be nice after the list merge (or half price if you won't do free), so I can get some 50s off Victory and onto what are now the Euro servers to make space on Victory, and give me some stuff to play on defiant/union. -
Quote:While not from Peterborough (which would be great for me coming from Norwich) my dad lives near there and I know it (and the station/trains) reasonably well. Peterborough connects well with Leeds and the East of the country, also Edinburgh, there are also slower trains to Nottingham-Manchester-Liverpool and Birmingham. The only area which would be a bit of a pain is the SW.The trouble with the rail network is that it just doesn't connect very well.
Peterborough sounds nice, but anyone from Leeds and anything west of that faces a few transfers to get there.
South West up to 3, and the same for South East, but you're right, as far as something on the mainline 'spine' of the country, its beaten only by York or Newcastle.
Since both offer trans-pennines routes, and being from newcastle I know that there's (or was) trains to Bristol and Birmingham. Which only leaves SE and SW in the lurch, and because of the poor layout, someone always will be, but the benefit of say newcastle, is that those not on the rail network, flights become a possibility, which is not so much for midlands.
Don't get me wrong, Peterborough would be ideal for me, its either 2 or 6 hours drive, depending on if some stupid truck driver wants to spill Ethanol on the M11/A14 again. But then going home is a 5 hour to 9 hour (same caveat on the M11/A14) to me, that most places are the same distance or less.
Also, to actually talk about the current event, I'm not sure if I can make the saturday at all now, which is a bit of a pain, hopefully i'll get my plans sorted in the next few days.
What I'm not sure of is whether there's anything resembling a venue. -
Quote:If you look at their largest two markets (US/Europe), they have to be friendly to them so GMT-8/7/6/5/0/+1 need to be catered for (talking northern hemisphere winter times). While I can understand the mentality behind doing Maintenance during the least affected times if that time is the "main" time for a particular zone it is going to be a MASSIVE issue for that player base.
Im sorry but anything before 10:30pm is just unacceptible.
I wonder what the size of the player base for -11GMT (looks to be the smallest geographical time zone).
So when could they do maint ?
4/5/6/7 am/noon/1pm is the one they choose. What does this mean for smaller markets ? Well Aus is not silly in the southern hemisphere winter but gets screwed in the summer because of the 2 hour daylight shift, also not good for Japan.
Is 2/3/4/5/10/11 am better ? In the Aussie summer, yes almost certainly, but would hit you in the winter. Are they going to alter their scheduled times for the seasons, probably not as US/EU/Aus I think all shift their hours on different dates so would be a mess at those times. -
Quote:Your point is wrong, common auction server so versions have to match. Strictly if there are no changes to the AH code, they could update at different times, but they did that for a while and found it more trouble than it was worth.
B: We can't get on Freedom if we're patched for Union yet. So there can't be any version mismatches until after the summer.
----
Every time I bring up the treatment of non-US customers (generally the EU customers, since that's the group I'm a part of), I get shouted down by everyone else. I am sorely, sorely tempted to go "I told you so" at every available opportunity, but I'm just not that petty. The evidence is clear as day anyway.
And I got to play in my primetime in the end, so I'd hate to get into another argument where I'm told I'm the minority and should just like/lump it.
I'm an EU player on the US servers, and if you think our treatment is bad, you should see what the Aussies put up with as regular weekly maint can impact their primetime. -
Quote:Was thinking this, basically "Expert dungeons" from other MMOs. Some TFs would be easier than others to convert, but basically if the mobs exist at 50+, or there are obvious substitutions, it shouldn't be too difficult. You could even add a tricky shortish mission or two specifically into the incarnate version if you wanted to to make people think, essentially you have a different challenge without having to write a whole new trial/TF. An epic version of task force commander that replaced the original with slightly higher bonuses could be added (and a way of upgrading the villain equivalent).I would like to see TFs with a challenge setting option called "Incarnate Challenge". Essentially it would be the same TF but with significantly buffed mobs, team size requirements removed, no use of temps, and maybe some other fun surprises. Mobs would drop threads like in trials and maybe even Astral Merits for achieving certain objectives.
Think of D2 Nightmare/Hell mode. Higher difficulty, better rewards.
With many players approaching T4 status all around, there is the concern of existing content not as challenging and not as worthwhile as it used to be. Sure, I can set it to +4 for a challenge but it would be nice to have a more thought out option. Plus, the content is already there so it would require only some slight tweaks on the development part. Seems like a pretty efficient way to keep people playing the same content over and over.
On the subject of the original post, reducing all the minimum team sizes to 3 or 4 wouldn't inconvenience many people. I think LGTF is left at 8 to prevent a small team of SOd toons who know nothing much about the TF simply finding they don't have the firepower to complete it. A simple warning along the lines of "Minimum team size 3, but we recommend at least 7" in glowing neon letters should do it. -
-
Also finding the new trials a big turnoff. I have twentysomething of my 63 50s level shifted from the alpha slot, and I'm going to be so bored with the game if I just grind trials to get them all incarnated out. The trouble is, it's very difficult to get teams for anything other than the WST or the trials.

Quote:Probably by PuGs that had people that beat it in the beta.In other games it's not uncommon for raids to take months for hardcore guild groups to complete. Groups whose members have requirements for gear, raid participation and even try out for their slots. Both BAF and Lambda were completed by PUGs on the first day. If that's not inclusive I don't know what is.
For the record I've done Lambda twice and won completely both times, but on both occasions (one in beta one in production) I was with people that had completed it before.
Not done BAF yet.
Calling these raids is fair, I know we're not allowed to compare games, but I play another MMO and the characteristics of:
Normal mobs that are harder than you see outside in the normal world
Tough bosses with a trick to them
Are common to dungeons/raids in that game and the incarnate trials in this one. -
When global services are down, extra character slots disappear.
-
I was thinking of the cockup with gaussians unique that wasn't because the definition of uniqueness was held in 2 places.
-
What's probably happened is that the minimum level for the piece is held in several different places, and in one of them it says 15 not 10 hence saying you need to be 12.
When I hit 2BN on a toon, I just email it off 1BN-1 at a time, or have you already got 20 of those ? -
Quote:I believe (although to some extent a guess) that's the Yiddish pronounciation which some older English Jewish people would have used and passed on.Can someone in the UK PLEASE tell me why some of you pronounce bagel as "buy-gull" instead of "bay-gel" ?!
Around the turn of the 20th century, many Jews in London spoke Yiddish and never learned English, their children learned English but could also speak Yiddish. It helped as Jews from all over central/eastern Europe could talk to each other in a common language. My grandfather spoke English, and remembered some Yiddish, and he used the buy-gel pronounciation, and my father does also. I tend to use bay-gel most of the time.
A real bagel is a very different thing to the mass produced items you often see, and is I believe boiled before baking to give a very distinctive texture. -
Quote:The crack, or its original Irish spelling of the same pronounciation craic is sort of "a good time", it's a mixture of atmosphere and companionship, basically a good night out.
Yeah, crack is a very bad and very illegal drug here. What does it mean there?

A period is something a woman has once a month, a "." is a full stop

One that has caused problems in game, we brits use Ta as an abbreviation for thankyou.
Rhyming slang can cause problems over here, one of the London football (soccer not gridiron) teams was sponsored by clothing firm Pony. You can guess what Pony (and trap) is rhyming slang for. The goons introduced a character called Hugh Jampton who is also rooted in rhyming slang (as a wind-up on their very straight laced BBC producer who was unaware of it) and the london accent where the H can disappear. There is a place called Hampton Wick, so you should be able to work the rest out.
Even though I never touch tobacco, I can't resist saying "off to smoke a <3 letter cigarette abbreviation>" if I think it will amuse/outrage somebody. Here the 6 letter version is the meatball, the short form is a cigarette, neither has the US connotation.
Anglo-Australian conflicts are also fun, a thong is an element of skimpy women's underwear here, but a form of footwear in Aus. A trade name for a popular UK brand of condoms is a trade name for scotch tape in Aus, cue sticky situations gag.
I also had a character generic'd and had absolutely no clue why. It turned out (when I googled it) the name The Pocket Rocket (which was used as a nickname by several small dynamic sportsmen in this country, and also slang for a pair of aces in hold-em) was shared by American womens' 2nd favourite piece of plastic after a credit card.
