Sigh, back to primetime downtimes

I hate daylight saving change over ):

So whining to those that hopefully understand.

Game going for maintenance at 8:30 pm local time sucks. 10:30 was much better.

Kinda dreading that it will be every Tuesday to change the notice of well over in addition to thursday ):

I'm hoping they look at times again when EU servers merge. And pick a less disruptive time.

/whine

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

This is the least disruptive time. It will always be someone's 8:30 PM, and quite frankly, the largest playerbase is least active at 7:30 AM EDT/4:30 AM PDT (which is incredibly early already, since normal shifts in the states start at 9 AM)

Wow. Point missed or Trolling practise?
Amazed you came into an oceanic forum section to do so. Are you an aussie, or do you just like to go around righting perceived wrongs on forums?

Also interested in how you have the figures of the playerbase activity times :/ You're just claiming information out your rear end aint ya?

~~~~
And its great to know that paragon cancelled normal maintance for tonight - yay )
It's these little things that mean a lot.
No, I'm simply going on the information they gave out when they changed the maintenance last time. Which was that they took the least populated server time. Your dead time is, quite frankly, peak time for their largest playerbase (that being US players).
While I can understand the mentality behind doing Maintenance during the least affected times if that time is the "main" time for a particular zone it is going to be a MASSIVE issue for that player base.
Im sorry but anything before 10:30pm is just unacceptible.
I wonder what the size of the player base for -11GMT (looks to be the smallest geographical time zone).
I understand why they do it when they do it, but it's still annoying, especially when there's multiple maintenances per week like we're getting at the moment.
I do wish they'd at least stagger the maintenance windows by a couple of hours though, just so we don't get screwed around every time.
If you look at their largest two markets (US/Europe), they have to be friendly to them so GMT-8/7/6/5/0/+1 need to be catered for (talking northern hemisphere winter times).
So when could they do maint ?
4/5/6/7 am/noon/1pm is the one they choose. What does this mean for smaller markets ? Well Aus is not silly in the southern hemisphere winter but gets screwed in the summer because of the 2 hour daylight shift, also not good for Japan.
Is 2/3/4/5/10/11 am better ? In the Aussie summer, yes almost certainly, but would hit you in the winter. Are they going to alter their scheduled times for the seasons, probably not as US/EU/Aus I think all shift their hours on different dates so would be a mess at those times.
It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba
Actually Id like it if they would rotate the downtime so each downtime it starts at a different time.
Simple - fair
Actually, it isn't that simple. Because then you have to change people's work schedules, change the timing on alarm systems, and all sorts of other behind the scenes things. By doing it at the same time each week (at least the scheduled one), you know exactly when it is in advance, and when people need to be in at 4 AM instead of 9 AM. Adjusting schedules for workers is far more complicated than simply changing the schedule, because not everyone who is available at 4 AM Thursday is available at, say, 9 PM Wednesday, or 6 PM Thursday.
Quite frankly, everyone is welcome to ignore this, as it is simply frustration being vented, but it will make me feel better. Also, I realise we are extremely small fish in an ocean.
All that being said, I'm extremely frustrated that the server down times have hit us so hard. I don't know about the rest of the 'oceanics' playing, but with work and other commitments, the extraordinary amount of maintenance this week has meant I've barely been able to play the game. To add insult to injury, I have an open 'Reward Token not being awarded' ticket which NCsoft/Paragon seems to be stalling on, which probably increases my annoyance levels more than it should.
I don't expect extra paid time. I don't expect perks, but I would like the far greater impact on 'oceanics' acknowledged by the devs. I know this won't happen publicly (hell, if I were the Customer Relations Manager of the company, I'd be drilling my staff not to acknowledge anything but the official announcement and 'it's back' posts so that fuel wouldn't be added to the fire).
The question is: Are we small fish because of the maintenance or in spite of it?
I tried bringing my Oceanic guild to this game and yay for me it worked! For a short time... They arrival was misfortunate enough to coincide with i21 and the lack of uptime of the servers sent each and every one of them packing.
That is $240 a month NCSoft is missing out on, it sounds inconsequential but I'd be willing to bet far more potential subs have been lost than my friends.
The best solution would be to have at least one server with different maintenance times.
