    hover & powers

Some powers are ground-specific. Like Footstomp, you have to have something to place the effect on in order for it to work.

It's not bugged (unless you're seeing powers that used to work in flight not working) it's as intended. There's a list somewhere of what powers require you to be on the ground or near it.

    An Inquiry

Between my set synergies, IO set bonuses I'm running a BS/SR who's attack chain looks something like

Headsplitter > Disembowel > Hack > Slice - And this gets repeated as necessary with whatever is available next.

Player preference, I know it's not optimal. But damn, I enjoy when my opening attack crits and reduces the target to corpse.

On thick packs Whirling Sword is interspersed as necessary to help cut down on the crowding. Hard to look awesome when Council are all pushing for an autograph.

  4. Stalkers for Damage/Survival comparision

    Corruptor for playstyle (Ranged/AoE blasting)

Dominator is an excellent choice if you want mostly ranged, some melee and what amounts to an "Assault Controller".

Frankly, if I were more interested in Holds after my ice/ice/cold blaster, i'd have rolled a cold/cold Dominator. But I like my cake Blasting with a Glaze of Hold. I find Hold Cake a bit fattening and the ranged sprinkles just not enough flavor to my taste.

I don't recall the order, but there was an opener on my ice blaster that started with one of the Freeze Rays and followed with the other Freeze Ray and shazam, troublesome LT's, Bosses and obnoxious minions are held. It largely had to do with activation times and response triggers, where I can hold a Boss and he only gets off one attack on me.

It's the safest way I can handle Paired Death Mages in Portal Parking.

And nothing brings me more joy than watching a Death Mage reach for the sky amidst his personal block of ice.
  6. Weeell, if Defiance weren't what it is, i'd almost be bummed about this.

But, give the Corruptor his cigar, buy yourself a beer and move on. I'm sure it'll get noticed, fixed and thusly you'll receive your vindication. But until then accept the numbers and enjoy the game.

Part of the reason I have Recall Friend is from running lots of Shard TFs back in the day. (This character hit 50 in Nov '05.) Since I am a flyer, I could get all my teammates to the missions. Now that there are so many teleport options, plus the jetpack vendor in Firebase Zulu, I may drop it.
I'll have to think about that.
Only you know your playstyle, what powers you use and which ones you can sacrifice. Dropping a power you almost never use for one that one that you might use more often, with practice, is huge.

I have a 50 blaster with Assault. Not because that 10% is amazing and does me a world of good. On the contrary, Assault actually counters my end recovery and causes more problems when I solo. Ah! But when in groups, in TF's I totally turn that on. I'm not shooting as much anyways, what with mobs dying by the bushel, but I figure 'Hey, if I can help everyone else do more damage, then I've contributed.' And then what few hits actually manage to land, are further enhanced.

All that being said. You should definitely drop Recall. You could get so much more mileage out of just about any power pool. Well, except Presence.

Something you can do for yourself, is take the build you have (Which looks very solid and probably can't be optimized much without making sacrifices) and use an alternate build for experimentation/massive respeccing.

I have a ice/ice/cold blaster i've yet to respect into inherent fitness largely because I like how he plays and I don't really 'gain' anything from a respec. But that's largely because of my style.
  8. Drop the two recharge from Aim and BU, slot two-pieces of your choice Adjusted Targeting.

Shazam, slightly less recharge (optimally), and shazam 4% damage.

    And that's with minimal changes.

So I'm left asking, what's your objective? Ranged Soft Cap? Amazingly high recharge?

I like the build, very solid, but I'd think you could get more mileage out of some other powers instead of Recall Friend. Being a dedicated Flyer on all my characters, I can speak from experience in saying 'you'll almost never be first to a mission.' And yes, there are times I wish I had Recall. But those times are so rare, i'm happy I didn't drop a selection on it and instead of other powers, like Assault or Hasten.

I'm not trying to talk you out of what you have, just trying to offer alternatives.
  9. For build assistance and with mids, it helps to include the data chunk as well as the short build like you have here.

As for build ideas, one suggestion I could make is replacing Lightning Clap (Which looks like a mule) for Assault. For blasters, that's a solid 10% damage buff to everyone in range. Makes you more of a team player, gives you more damage bonus. And somehow, I don't see you using LC that often.

Swap that Flight IO in Swift for a Run speed, you're at/over cap at 50 as it is.

    Just my two-cents.

Longer than Freeze Ray, sure. But you've evidently not spent much time with the 2-punch followup, Bitter Freeze Ray.
  11. On further thought into the topic, having an option for a random rotation on all the available animations wouldn't be so bad.

Specially so as I can't make my mind up on which version of Electrical Blast I like most. The one handed hip shooter, or the two-fisted 'Take this, scumbag'.
  12. Hey,

This is my first time.. <looks around nervously> I'll have a hot dog and some of that cotton candy.. do you take plastic?
  13. I'm sure they'd sell the base and resources off were someone willing to make an offer.

I've only been with Virtue a few months, but I'm sad to see a prominent SG leave like this. Sad times.
  14. I guess that would depend on whether or not you wanted Magic Salvage.

Personally, I say farm Arachnos missions, at least they'll drop Magic and Tech.
  15. I'm wondering if anyone's played with Electricity blast and tried slotting End Mod into their attacks. My conventional slotting is 2 Acc, 3Dam and 1 Recharge/End Redux depending on the attacks and my Endurance position while leveling.

But having rolled a new electricity blaster i'm considering a third slot option. Endurance Modification. Reasonably, I imagine I'd probably get more mileage out of Recharge, what with so few attacks on the lineup. But I felt I should ask, see if anyone had field experience.
  16. I find bios, even short ones, a pleasant distraction during downtime. Like when I'm unconscious waiting for Vengeance or Rez or whatever, I like to have something to read. Even if it's a summarized menu of powers and origin.

As for commentary, usually only if someone in the team starts it. and then I might comment on the legitimacy of said villain group or their methodologies.
  17. Would be nice. A solid 'Straight shootin' theme.

Though, I can't see them changing the Tier 9. Something about a PBAoE pistol maneuver makes me as "how else could it be represented?"

But I'm with you. +1 Vote for alt pistol animation.
  18. Shamelessly advertise everywhere you go, offering to show people what a modestly slotted Warshade is capable of.

Form teams, build mission groups and pound the pacement proving you're a capable Kheldian.

And/or, my personal favorite. Do everything. Do the TF's nobody does, or rarely tries like the 'Shard TF's. Hit all the story arcs via Oro or Contact. Collect your Accolades. Y'know, the ones that actually 'do' something.

Complete a Trial or two. I hear the Abandoned Sewers need some serious work.
  19. You might need to clarify on what 'still good' actually means. I've a BS scrapper that did fairly well in Tin Mage. Really, I only notice high resistance enemies when I'm solo against Malta. But groups, TF's. Nah, everything dies so fast anyways.

And of course it's about enjoying yourself, so play what you want.
  20. Yes alternate animations for controllers. At least an option where I can use the same fist throws for all my holds, or perhaps you set the hand gesturing to alternate arms, like how Brawl isn't always a right hook.
  21. I picked a semi-unique color combination for my nrg/nrg blaster. But I'm entertaining the idea of different colored blasts for different costumes.

    Mace Blast

    Excellent, thanks for the info!

    Mace Blast

I was wondering if anyone had experimented with a Bane mace blast build. There are a fair number of blasts in there to make for an attack chain, but having no formal experience with late-game Soldier, I'm not certain if it works out well, or if you wind up eating floor.

On a similar note, what about a Huntsman build using Mace Blast attacks?
  24. I leveled an ice/ice/cold blaster to 50. Ice Storm was among the bread and butter of my AoE destruction. Mind you, I skipped or didn't use some powers because of my preference for mobility and hovering.

My usual mix was to drop an Ice Storm and then Blizzard. What wasn't thoroughly ruined by the raining snow and death from Blizzard was slowed and whittled down from the Ice Storm.

Even in groups I highly recommend it. There are occasions where a little extra rain helps.
  25. Following up with what Supernumiphone said, it's important to know what you think is 'fun'. And it would also help to know what you mean by 'ineffective'. If you mean you can't stand freely in a mob with your mission set to +4/x8, well, that's something.

If you can't even do your own missions at base difficulty, that's something too.
