Spot check for my elec/elec/elec build?

I got some excellent advice from my global channel on finally creating a build my main could be proud of, moving from mostly common IOs to all set IOs. I'd like another set of eyes to look it over and make sure I didn't miss anything obvious.

I'm not going to make significant changes, but I'm really good at forgetting the obvious. He's got a mix of bonuses - decent recharge, acc, damage, defense and regen/recovery boosts - as I wasn't striving to max out on any one stat.

For build assistance and with mids, it helps to include the data chunk as well as the short build like you have here.

As for build ideas, one suggestion I could make is replacing Lightning Clap (Which looks like a mule) for Assault. For blasters, that's a solid 10% damage buff to everyone in range. Makes you more of a team player, gives you more damage bonus. And somehow, I don't see you using LC that often.

Swap that Flight IO in Swift for a Run speed, you're at/over cap at 50 as it is.

Just my two-cents.

IO swapped. I always forget that Flight is capped out of the box.

At the moment, I'm using all 4 available power pools, so I couldn't add Assault without dropping CJ (which has a LotG 7.5% recharge in it), Recall Friend, or Hasten.

Here's the data chunk:

Drop the two recharge from Aim and BU, slot two-pieces of your choice Adjusted Targeting.

Shazam, slightly less recharge (optimally), and shazam 4% damage.

And that's with minimal changes.

So I'm left asking, what's your objective? Ranged Soft Cap? Amazingly high recharge?

I like the build, very solid, but I'd think you could get more mileage out of some other powers instead of Recall Friend. Being a dedicated Flyer on all my characters, I can speak from experience in saying 'you'll almost never be first to a mission.' And yes, there are times I wish I had Recall. But those times are so rare, i'm happy I didn't drop a selection on it and instead of other powers, like Assault or Hasten.

I'm not trying to talk you out of what you have, just trying to offer alternatives.

I am by no means an expert with builds, with that said though, I agree with the suggestion on clap. I am not quite sure I understand what you are aiming for in the build. Most people I see go for either some type of defense(atleast to 32, to pop a purple and reach soft cap) or go for very high recharge to, in theory, kill anything before it can kill you. It looks like a well rounded build but those thunderstrikes take a ton of slots and don't get you too high in ranged def. Maybe there is something I am missing(I am a noob with these), I am just more of a fan to try and min/max in an area. You are after all playin a blaster

I like it! Aim and BU will be up faster than before anyway, with the set bonuses.

Like I said in the OP, I'm not going for anything specifically - I'm just hoping for a better overall character. I like the ranged defense, since I'll be staying at range most of the time, hopping in to blap when it is safe, and of course more accuracy and recharge are always good, but the main goal is improving the character overall without changing my playstyle drastically.

Part of the reason I have Recall Friend is from running lots of Shard TFs back in the day. (This character hit 50 in Nov '05.) Since I am a flyer, I could get all my teammates to the missions. Now that there are so many teleport options, plus the jetpack vendor in Firebase Zulu, I may drop it.

I'll have to think about that.

I'm not trying to min/max anything specifically. Right now I have basically common IOs, and a few cheap sets slotted, along with some frankenslotting, so anything I do is going to be a dramatic improvement. A lot of the build was donated from a friend who is leaving the game for deployment, so I took what he had to give into account when creating the build.

Then yeah it is def a huge improvement over SO's by all means and should be a nice step up in performance all around. The acc and recharge will def be noticable.

Only you know your playstyle, what powers you use and which ones you can sacrifice. Dropping a power you almost never use for one that one that you might use more often, with practice, is huge.

I have a 50 blaster with Assault. Not because that 10% is amazing and does me a world of good. On the contrary, Assault actually counters my end recovery and causes more problems when I solo. Ah! But when in groups, in TF's I totally turn that on. I'm not shooting as much anyways, what with mobs dying by the bushel, but I figure 'Hey, if I can help everyone else do more damage, then I've contributed.' And then what few hits actually manage to land, are further enhanced.

All that being said. You should definitely drop Recall. You could get so much more mileage out of just about any power pool. Well, except Presence.

Something you can do for yourself, is take the build you have (Which looks very solid and probably can't be optimized much without making sacrifices) and use an alternate build for experimentation/massive respeccing.

I have a ice/ice/cold blaster i've yet to respect into inherent fitness largely because I like how he plays and I don't really 'gain' anything from a respec. But that's largely because of my style.

Haven't read into this build massively as a lot of things have changed and I think my opinion is less valid than it once was. That said, my thoughts are there:

*Voltaic sentinel has the worst acc ever, I've found it consistently loves to miss, so single slotting it for DMG is pretty much a waste of a power. That said, I do have it, and slot it much more highly and it makes a noticeable difference in end drain, PvP and soloing.

*Zapp, the only use I can think of for this is in PvP as high level PvE pretty much revolves around everything that is not sniping. I wouldn't take it over Short Circuit.

*If you're taking Lightning Clap then I would slot it for EndRed, Stun, RecRed and Acc. It's pretty much a panic button, and even when one does use it, as an elec I wouldn't want them too far away for either draining or leeching powers.

*Lack of Short Circuit: for me this is just a massive no-no. You've embraced the blaptrol elements but missed the core one IMHO. If you do plan to go in and blap occasionally as you say, this will crank your DPS big time, BL and SC are great AoEs and the drain is a game changer in many situations. It also adds to PvPability and can make AVs somewhat of a doddle in many circumstances.

*Can't really remember what Surge of Power is, I have a horrible feeling that it replaced some kind of EMP? ...

Hope that helps, I'm about to respec when I've done my research after missing 3.5 years and I will defo keep 3 holds, 3 ranged, 2 drains as the core .

2 cents.
