Blaster-like AT on red-side?

I really like blasters, but I'd like to make a villain one.
Since it's not possible, please recommend me ATs and Power Sets combo that most like the offensive juggernaut role of a blaster on red-side.

Thanks in advance.

Corruptors and Dominators sort of split the role. Corruptors have the ranged and AOE attacks from the Blaster Primaries, but swap the blapping and self-buffing powers of the secondary for Defender Support sets.

Dominators actually split their focus pretty evenly between the Control Primary and a collection of ranged single and cone attacks and melee single and PBAOE attacks from a Blasters primary and secondary.

Fire/Dark corruptors are beastly. For something more equivalent to a Blapper something like a Fire or Ice or Elec Domi (all three control sets have a melee-friendly aura) with nearly any of the secondaries suits. But in all cases there are outliers and exceptions (Sonic corruptors don't have much AOE, a Plant/Fire Domi is a bit of a ranged AOE beast).

You guys think that Ice/Ice is good for a first Dom?

I love Ice/Ice blaster.

Yeah, Ice/Ice is pretty good. It's not as damaging as some other combos, but if you like Ice/Ice blasters you'll probably like an Ice/Ice dominator.

For the record, you can side-switch a blaster by running tips and going vigilante then villain, and voila! a villain blaster. So, not being able to start there does not mean a villainous blaster is impossible.

That's probably one of the closest 1 to 1 matches you could make actually. The only downside is you lose your Blizzard (and Ice Storm, at least until you get to 47 and have taken the Ice APP). You sort of swap them for a more effective Ice Patch (you can cast it from range and from behind cover) and Arctic Air which are the twin jewels of Ice Control.

Ice Assault is one of the lower damage Domi sets though, just a word of warning. Nearly everything should go well with Ice Control though.

If you enjoy the "blapper" playstyle (ie, melee blaster), you might enjoy Earth Assault. It pairs nicely with a few different primaries. Mine is Plant/Earth, and I love it.

Corruptors never really felt blaster-ish to me. It's true that some combos can do insane amounts of damage, but the buff/debuff, then shoot playstyle is more defender-ish (to me) than the guns-blazing style I use for my blasters.

i played a blaster after i had taken my ice/fire dom to 50 (fire/elec blaster), and now that i've respeced my dom into the fire epic, i feel like i'm running my fire blaster.

my attack chain on my fire blaster was:

aim>BU>RoF>fire ball>blaze>fire blast>charged brawl (when they get into range)

my attack chain on my dom is:

ice slick>embrace of fire>RoF>breath of fire>fire ball>block of ice/chilblain/shiver (if needed)>blaze>fire blast>incinerate (when they get into range/after being held)

honestly i don't need all 3 AoEs on +0, but hey they are nice to have . sometimes if my AoE controls aren't up, i'll just start with RoF and my AoEs like a blaster and control when necessary. definitely the choice for 'blaster' on villianside, choosing a secondary with BU/EoF even more so.

You can't run tips until level 20, so to save time, roll a Blaster goldside. As soon as you hit 20, you can become a villain right away.

And, of course, as all have said, the closest Villain AT match to a Blaster is a Dominator. Before level 40, you won't have quite as much in the way of AoE options, but with APPs, especially //Ice (Sleet is imba), you'll feel like a Blaster with Control. I personally went //Primal, and even that's enough AoE for me.

Stalkers.

Both ATs are focused around high burst damage and have sub par survival capabilities.

Blasters are more focused on AoE damage, though, while Stalkers are almost pure ST. I don't feel a match at all when I play Stalkers, and I *love* Blasters.

Stalkers ARE more like Blappers, however, but the OP mentioned his favorite is Ice/Ice, which isn't a very Blappy combo.

It depends on the stalker. Electric has good area damage easily comparable to Ice.

Stalkers for Damage/Survival comparision

Corruptor for playstyle (Ranged/AoE blasting)

Dominator is an excellent choice if you want mostly ranged, some melee and what amounts to an "Assault Controller".

Frankly, if I were more interested in Holds after my ice/ice/cold blaster, i'd have rolled a cold/cold Dominator. But I like my cake Blasting with a Glaze of Hold. I find Hold Cake a bit fattening and the ranged sprinkles just not enough flavor to my taste.

I *really* wish Dominators had the weapon assault sets. I really want a AR, Dual Pistol, or Archery secondary on a Dominator.

Or a combination of Shuriken, Ninja Blade and Traps. That would work out pretty well in pattern from the other Dominator Secondaries.

Try some of the suggested Corruptor and Doms. At lev 20 if not happy, then make a Huntsman or Crab Soldier of Arachnos.
Huntsman is somewhat how I always wanted an AR/Devices blaster to feel like. With BU and Cloak Device from Bane trees post 24, I also melee, critical from stealth on Bayonet power is sweet, and stunning up to Lts. with the butt of your rifle never gets old with Pummel. But most of the time it is venom grenade, heavy burst, frag nade on groups, and repeat. Burst and single shot for single target blasting and clean up, along with the two melee attacks, pummel is great for that one mob who escaped your aoe's with a sliver of life, crack to head and dead.
Crabs are generally blasterly (spec into Crab at lev 24, or stay a Huntsman) and can do other things also. Blasting with a little bit of mez protection, sounds good right, to me thats what Huntsman and Crabs are all about. Good self and team buffs, some debuffs on some attacks, good stuff. I think the VEATS have a damage modifier close to Corruptor or Defender, so not exactly Blaster numbers in the air, but it is good stuff.
I like some Corruptors, some Doms, those might work for you, try a Huntsman or Crab also.
OR Like somone already suggested come over redside via tip morality missions with your Blaster of choice, and you are a villianous blaster.

Or if you want all the fun and not all the squishiness of a fire/fire blaster..then fire/fire dominator..(not as easy to play as some of the dom combos but you get most the powers of fire/fire and the plus of having holds..and mez protection esp. if you build for perma)

To tell you the truth. The only Redside character that felt anything like all my Blasters ended up being;

Brutes.

Once Fury is up and running, being able to one shot left and right gives the same feeling as a Blaster, with the added ability to not die.
I tried Dom's and Corr since they were both ranged but found them significantly lacking in damage compared to my preferred class.
Brutes provided that burst damage feeling I'd been missing...

That said, I specifically bought GR just so I could roll up Evil Blasters and Heroic MM's!!

Nothing tops being an Energy/Energy blaster in the Isles! I love it.

How long ago did you last try a dominator? If it was before the revamp, I strongly recommend trying them again - I couldn't stand them before they were changed, but I've recently started two. One is in the mid 30's, the other still a lowbie, but I'm enjoying them as much as my blasters.
