Fire/Rad in multiple hues stands in for the aurora borealis on my interdimensional detective, Fedora Borealis.
Fire/Kin colored pure white stands in for "light" for Swede of Light.
on my fire/storm corruptor I made the fire breath power into a hand based "cone of cold" since shes a magic based character.

So I was curious how other people may have recolored powersets to thematically make them completely different powers. For instance I changed storm/energy to look like sand powers and sand blasting.. and it looks pretty good!

Tex, that Aurora Borealis theme looks f**king amazing.
Just had to drop in and say that Fedora Borealis pic is amazing. Nice job, Tex.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

I made a Rad/NRG blaster and was able to color the powers to look peacebringer blasts.

I have a fire/dark corruptor that recolored to all white. Name's Purifying Light, gives you an idea of the concept.
I have a rad/nrg blaster that I recolored to look like blasts from DBZ. Yellow NBurst, red x ray, white irridate (solar flare), blue CB and NBomb, and yellow AB. All the nrg attacks were a dark green/yellow.
I have a few....
A Fire/MM blaster with all colored blue/midnight blue, dark palette. He takes attacks his foes with burning dark soul energy, so the almost black fire/waves with hints of blue embers makes the fire/psychic blast more ethereal.
A Fire/Rad 'pure radiation' controller- the fire/ effects are on 'dark' with light green colors to make them a bit less apparent, while the glow part is accentuated in a sickly green. All of the radiation is likewise sickly green, giving an opaque, mucky green haze to all effects. Perfect for the 'Nuclear leak' look.
An EM/Dark brute that manipulates life forces, shielding himself in life-draining death energy, and life energy channeled into deadly blows. So the energy melee is a bright green against the black/green dark armor powers...the dark armor powers are mostly dark but the faint tendrils are a more 'lively' green to accentuate anything that can effect a foe.
A dark/dark corruptor that wears a failed experimental suit that emits a continuous flow of blinding, sickening smog. As such, all dark powers are switched to a light, dull greyish color, and all powers are restricted to purely 'smoky' powers. As such, he's a walking, puffing ball of pollution.
My Illusion/Rad Controller Genie Gold I customized her powers to be a bright golden color. It worked very well to unite all her powers and make them all look like manifestations of light. Her power is supposed to be control over air (as a genie) but even the smoky/cloud powers fit the theme as glowing clouds of a dull orange.
As an example, this is her Radiant Aura:
I also made my Electric/Fire Blaster's Fire Sword a bright purplish color, and called it a "plasma sword". Also, I have an Earth/Cold Controller that I made match theme by selecting the Crystals graphics for the Primary, and making them the same dull tan as his Secondary. His ice shields look like rock crystals, almost the same as the crystals of his Primary, and his "storm" powers are clouds of sand. (No pictures of either, unfortunately)
SS/ELA Brute colored green as a stand in for Rad Melee and Rad Armor.
Mind/NRG Dominator colored goldish white to stand in for Light Control and Light Assault.
Branching Paragon Police Department Epic Archetype, please!
For most heroes, I recolour their powers to match their costumes and general colour scheme... which often varies between costumes.
But I do something different for some of my buffers' costumes: I recolour the powers to match their effects, going by colour-coded enhancements. Resist buffs are purple, endurance buffs are blue, heals and regen are green, and so on.
What ever happened to coloring the epics?

I almost always color each of my powers differently, that ended up being REALLY fun on my spine/regen. Infact i wish there was an option of having three or so different sets of colors for one power that would come up randomly, that would be sooo cool!
Then some other times i use what's really close to the original color but just a little off, did this on a few of my fire/kin's costumes.

My Fire/Earth Dominator The Contaminated Man has everything colored green and purple to look toxic; the hammers are lava textured.
Lethal Contamination my Ice/Rad (named after the label on the canister he was found in) also has his ice powers recolored to look like toxic substances instead of ice, and the Dark /Rad themes used for a more material, non-energy look.
My DM/Regen Miss Skinless has her powers colored dark red to represent blood; she's basically using Blood Melee, not Dark Melee. Touch of Fear isn't using the "power of the netherworld", it's scary because you have a screaming insane woman with no skin flinging her own blood at you. The same goes with /Regen, it's all bloody.

I picked a semi-unique color combination for my nrg/nrg blaster. But I'm entertaining the idea of different colored blasts for different costumes.

In one of the many incarnations that didn't stick of "Abrakaboom" (the world's greatest stage magician that no one seems to recognize), he was a fire/elec blaster with a full rainbow of powers.
Fireball was pink and yellow.
Breath was blue/green.
Rain was turquoise/purple.
etc.

Like the great ice sheets that once covered North America, it's coming one day...inches at a time, but gradually and inexorably.
Unless there's global warming. |
The earth regularly goes through such cycles...
The warming of the polar caps causes them to melt... Which then cools down the rest of the climates...
Think of it like ice cubes in a drink.
The ice melts to mix with the drink.
The ice gets warmer and the drink gets cooler.
Hehe, obviously this is rather simplified, but yeah... The global temperature warming will create a cooling in the temperate climates.
Not saying that is WHY it is icy outside though... That's just winter! ;oP

I have a plant/nrg dominator that I think turned out real well. Various shades of green plus leafy effects for the costume, and her energy attacks are colored bright, pale yellow to evoke a sunshine theme (she absorbs sunlight like a plant, and what isn't converted into food is stored to be released later).
Oh, and very much on the want tintable epic pools bandwagon. I was very disappointed to learn she wouldn't be able to color the energy pool which I plan on taking.
My ill/rad troller, Improbability, is an avatar of Luck. As such, everything was recolored to a bright, rich green. It actually turned out really pretty looking, and very distinctive.
