Quote:Took me a while to figure out what you were talking about here. I was pretty sure that neither Positron or Second Nature posted anything DOOOOOMworthy.I suspect this was a preemptive post due to what was released on Tuesday. You could say the Positron interview and Second Nature's post was a positive spin on the same subject.
But that....
I could see how some folks might think it leads to DOOOOM for this game. I tried it at ComicCon last year, and was not impressed. Gameplay was almost exactly the same as the game that was supposed to kill us two years ago, except now I could play in stories with characters I care about, like GL or BM. Unfortunately, the console style gameplay does nothing but drive me away.
Maybe, someday, a new superhero game will come on the market with gameplay at least as good as this one along with a bunch of other new shinies, but I don;t expect it anytime soon. Until then...
MAKE MINE PARAGON! -
The person who gave you that mission should have been surrounded by them. They will have been non-functional (in that they don't fight back), and they get up again after you put them down. You only have to knock one to zero health before talking to that person again and moving on.

Quote:And no one has asked you to forward one of the e-mails you received to them?Well customer support has pretty much called me a liar, saying that there is "no way" that I received that email. This is horrible customer support and I now am contemplating cancelling my two accounts. It isn't about some little perk, it's more that fact that I have been called a liar by two different tiers of customer support. My ticket has been moved up to a higher level person two times, and both times I have been told that there is no way that I received that email, and I should let them know who forwarded it to me.
This is how you lose a 6 year subscriber with two accounts guys. Poor form.
This is the easiest way to prove that you received the e-mails in question. It boggles the mind that neither you nor they thought of it. -
Heh!
I managed to snag an NA code, too.
I went after the one that looked hardest to read, figuring it would go last.
Then of course, there is the backwards code, which I just now noticed. That's just dastardly. :P -
Quote:The content is supposed to be hard. In fact, content related to the Incarnate slot is supposed to be harder than anything we have ever had to do.Im sure you are soooooooooooo Leet that this might be true.
But in BC there were tons of people having trouble with the mission.
Honestly im just going to drop it on all my characters, its just not worth the hassle if your not a melee.
It hasn't even been 12 hours. The strategies for beating Honoree have not been widely disseminated yet. How to beat Hamidon wasn't common knowledge when that raid was first released, either. (In fact, the strategy that we players came up with turned out to be a surprise for the Devs. The Devs designed Hamidon with a victory strategy in mind, and apparently, in the four to five years the original Hamidon raid lasted, it seems that no one figured out that strategy.)
You are obviously forum savvy. Why you came here to complain rather than learn, I'll never know. If you just wanted to whine about how hard it is, you could have done that in Broadcast right along with everyone else you are championing, and you might have gotten some sympathy. If you had asked politely in the Help Channel, you might even have gotten some good advice, but I'm guessing you decided to give up rather than go through the effort of learning. -
Quote:We complain the game is too easy.Which still leads to my original point.
For players who dont read the forums, the advice most often given out in BC is just drop the mission, its not worth banging your head against.
Is this really what the devs want?
They give us a challenge, one that would require many people to alter their normal strategy for defeating mobs.
We complain the game is too hard.
Can the Devs win?
You answer this question, and I'll answer yours. -
I was bemused on Freedom last night when I saw two RMT'ers arguing with each other at the Wentworth's in Atlas on Freedom. Each was talking about how their service was better than their competitor's. One went so far as to reveal that their competition was scamming the Chinese government by underrreporting their earnings.
I reported them as spammers and went on with my business after I got done processing the absurdity of it all. -
And it looks like the winning bid was for $222.50. I thought someone might snipe it away at the last minute, but that price held for almost a full day.

Quote:Gonna go for the low hanging fruit on this one.
Any other movies you can think of where the subplot was actually vastly more interesting than the main plot of movie, or heck even supporting cast members who were actually more enjoyable than the main cast?
Transformers and Transformers 2. The plot is about how Sam Witwicky is changed by and central to this great war between the Autobots and Decepticons.
How great would it have been if the robots had actually been the most important characters in the movies? How much greater if the stupid, one or two dimensional human elements had been nixed entirely and we able to explore the personalities of the robots themselves (and freed them from their own one dimensional portrayals)? And, for god's sake, why are they replacing a pointless love interest for Sam with another pointless love interest? People are not going to a Transformers movie to see whoever Shia LeBouf wants to get it on with that week, they are going to see huge robots duke it out with each other. The money they save on a actress of questionable ability could have been used to give the robots more face time. -
As much as I love the X-Men and want to see good X-Men movies made....
I hope this tanks all to hell (sorry, Bryan, I still love your work in spite of the fact that you tried to ape Donner in Superman Returns rather than making your own movie). That way, Fox will agree to sell the rights back to Marvel so that Marvel can make X-Men movies and connect them to the rest of the Marvel Universe. -

Quote:You have it set to spawn bosses, yes?Let me present you what I encountered so far in this mission, set to +0x2. Out of the ten spawns I saw at all, the last seven were:
+1 Tarantula Queen and Crab Spider Slicer
+1 Night Widow and Arachnos Drone
+1 Night Widow and Blood Widow
+1 Night Widow and Crab Spider Slicer
+1 Toxic Tarantula and Crab Spider Slicer
+1 Night Widow and Arachnos Drone
+1 Arachnobot Disruptor and Crab Spider Slicer
Seriously people, fix the damn bosses spawning in way too small teams and the too big spawns at +1 already!
As the team size increases, you are more likely to see bosses, yes?
You increased the size of your team, yes?
You got spawns of 1 boss and 1 minion, which is well within the parameters of a two person team, yes? Other spawns that you should be seeing in a two person mission are four minions, and two or three minions and one lieutenant (unless it is Council or Freakshow, in which case you add one more minion to each spawn).
Except for the fact that you got an unusual number of +1 spawns, it all seems to be working as intended. This sometimes happens in missions where the mission seems to be mostly critters of one rank, and rarely do you see a different rank. I enjoy seeing the missions that seem to contain only lieutenants or bosses because they have a higher chance to drop something and they are worth 2-3 times the xp of the lower rank critter.
Did you get +1 spawns all night, or just in this mission?
It sounds more like you have a different expectation of the difficulty slider. If you could not handle the above, why are you telling the game that you can handle spawns set for two characters. If you don't want bosses, either drop your team size back to a level you can handle, or tell the Fateweaver or Hero Corps Analyst that you want Bosses to spawn as Lieutenants. -
Quote:Minor quibble at best. I've never felt Transfusion to be lacking as a heal. Could it stand to be boosted a bit? Sure, but it's not a major issue, and it doesn't do anything to stop Kinetics from being the most popular Controller Secondary in the game.the power transfusion has either been broke, or misrepresented for as long as i can remember perhaps since
COH's debut back in ...04 anyways...
the info on the power says transfusion is supposed to do
2 ticks of healing, but when you use it, it only does one
so either its not healing properly or theres a description error
my suggestion is that if they decide to "fix" it
they should make it heal twice like it says w/o cutting it down
instead of cheaping out and changing the info
Quote:cause kinetics is kinda under powered
siphon speed and inertial reduction are only useful for running about
siphon speed is basically the same thing as speed boost
(i say get rid of siphon speed, move speed boost to the earlier slot,
and add make it affect yourself too)
Quote:repel needs a much farther knockback effect cause as is
the foe barely moves the skill procs many times and your excessively drained of energy
the point to repel is to keep foes at a distance (or run thru a crowd of foes to watch them go flying(fall on thier but, as it is))
so having a long knock back is key, but with a longer knock back perhaps
making it a percent chance is more balanced about 65-75% is best
Quote:transference says in the description that it affects all allies near target, but in the "detailed info" it says
that its a single target attack type and says nothing about a target based AoE effect
*ive noticed this is true for many powers with similar effects
Quote:as for other things
you still take falling damage using jump powers
(should have a fall damage resistance)
Quote:many powers with conical damage radius are too narrow
(radius should not be less than 45 degrees as a fault, those that are at 45 should be increased by 10 the ones under are all at 30 so thered be a 15 degree increase) (perhaps even git rid of conical for very short to melee ranged powers and make it cylindrical as to make it easier to use since foes are usually in your face and to the side)
Quote:the weapon choices are still slim pickins especially w/ axes and bows
(i say lets have a couple weapon design contests have a vote and
add the top 5 and 2 developers choice in every category into the game as default, non unlock content)
the costume choices for medieval and bestial/monsterus are also quite slim
(again i say lets have a design contest but add the top 8 and 2 devs choice)
David and Jay are always working on new costumes for us. I'll take them when they are ready rather than have them rush it and have the stuff look half *****.
Quote:and im sure its been said at least a few times by now but i really do think
they should add non-human body types (snake,canine/feline and primate
would probably fulfill almost everyones desires except for a few of us nut jobs who want rediculas things like birds or lizzard men
(easiest accomplished by modeling off a raptor)
(i think the counter point was that its a super hero game and thus animal are kinda unrealistic, but it causes genetic engineering and "alien" origin to be excluded or just look really awfull)
One thing you are unlikely to see is non-humanoid models, due to the amazing amount of work involved for relatively little payoff.
Quote:i am willing to create a series of revamped and "new" powersets if i get enough posters asking, and get a forums staff member willing to help me post it in a format that will look decent
(cause a link to a file host would be lame, costly (most require subcriptions for permanent hosting) and get overlooked, and forums dont usually handle spread sheets well or at all)
*will take a few months as i havent and wont start till i get at least 20 requests and a staff member promising to help post when im done
If it isn't worth the work for you to format your suggestions and post them in Lady Jade's thread as a labor of love, don't expect any of us to beg you to do it. You have been playing for six years, and still don't know how Kinetics works, or what makes it good. Why should we take your suggestions on how to improve it, or any other powerset you do not understand.
If I were you, before you undertake your spreadsheet labour, I would go to the Archetype forums related to the powersets you think need improvement and ask the community to explain to you why the powersets in question are good. In a properly worded topic, you will get people coming out of the woodwork with numerical analyses of where the sets rock, and where they suck. Being so informed, you can then embark on your crusade. -
Once you reach level 20, your initial contact will have a new Contact for you. This Contact will give you a brief rundown on Primal Earth, and send you to a facility where you make your decision on whether you go to the Rogue Isles or Paragon City.

Quote:Except that "the players" don't want it. You and some other people want it, just as myself and some other people would rather the Devs use their valuable design time to work on something else. Neither of us represents in any way the majority of the player base.(Puts on flame-retardant suit...)
Okay, so before I state my ideas let me say that I know the devs have said this isn't going to happen, and no I haven't read ALL the threads on the vehicles suggestions, because A) I'm lazy... and B) I have too much of a life outside of the game/forums... So forgive me for any similarities to any other posts...
As for bringing this subject up again, I basically wanted to put my 2 inf in on the subject and also keep it alive so that hopefully eventually the devs will see how much the players want it and perhaps work it into the game... So without further adieu...
Quote:Vehicles, a Travel Power:
Much like Jetpacks and other travel power costume pieces, vechicles such as cars, motorcycles, jets and helicopters will produce a costume and animation change of the vehicle around the avatar when activated.
Quote:Customization will be like costume customization in which you will choose the shape of the vehicle, decoration pieces, and patterns and colors.
Quote:Now for all the issues that I read about that were brought up...
How will vehicles travel over certain terain, like water? Will it be able to "jump"?
That one's easy, at least I think it is... For the Helicopters it would be REALLY simple... like any other flight power you would be able to fly and land anywhere... and as for water, make it have pontoons or a stylish floatation bottom... As for the cars/motorcycles, you have two choices...
First with the land terain: you can either have them "jump" via hydrolics or jump jets, or more simply, you could make them unable to jump, and the player would need to stick to the roads (which is more "realistic") and should the player get stuck or need to traverse the more rocky or uneven terain, they can deactivate their vehicle to do so... And as for the water, same thing... either make the vehicles amphibious, or just make them unable to go in the water, at which point the vehicle travel power will automatically deactivate and the player will have to swim until they get to a road to ractivate...
The other big issue: What happens when you activate your vehicle power in a cave or building?
Again, in my mind, easy... NOTHING!!! Make it inherent in the power that it cannot be activated in indoor instances such as buildings and caves and sewers and such... the only way a hero would take a vehicle into a building is if he drove it in through the wall, which OBVIOUSLY would not be a part of the game... unless the devs went nuts... Vehicles are meant to be a way to get from point A to point B and then the hero hoofs it from there.
So it makes no sense to have this power usable indoors, which solves that problem as far as I'm concerned...
So there are my thoughts so far... let me know what you guys think, and please... be gentle... LOL
Thanks for your time!
Considering the amount of development time that would be required to make vehicles a reality (new vehicle creation interface alone), even with the limitations you propose (actually, making a power unusable in an indoor instance, but still usable in an outdoor instance would require the creation of new tech, too), do you feel this would be a worthwhile use of Development money and time?
I don't. -
Quote:Here's the overview from the GR site.My source was a link to the Going Rogue website, where one of the things it said was more customization.

Quote:So, you log in at mid day on a weekday when most people are at work, and at least some schools are back in session, in addition to it being a beautiful day outside (here in sunny california, at least), and you marvel that there aren't a lot of people on?
there was 1 AFKer, and that's it.
so I log in today at lunch, 1 person again (at least solo running quests)
Even so, I find it hard to believe that a search only turned up one other person, regardless of day, time, or server. You might have only seen one person "out in the world" on your server, but I assure you that there were many more than that on and playing.
The heavily instanced nature of the game means that most of the people who are on will not be visible to you as you travel through the zones, because they will actually be playing the game.
Even on servers like Triumph, often cited as the least populated server, I have no trouble finding a team when I want one, because I understand how to effectively use the Team Search tools. There are a few guides for how to find teams on the less populated servers. If you like your character on Victory or Triumph, and don't want to pay for a transfer, you might want to look into them. Introduce yourself on your server's board, and then join one of the server channels. These things will make your teaming much easier if you choose to remain in Smallville instead of moving to Metropolis. -
Quote:It is fairly evident by the end of Scirocco's arc that he needs to be stopped, for the good of the world.
That leaves me Ghost Widow and Scirroco. On the face of it, Scirroco would seem like the obvious choice. If I were someone with heroic leanings who hadn't done his Arcs before, he would seem like the most honorable choice among all the Patrons ...
Of course then we get to Second Arc and I have to justify how/why I'd betray him ...
Ghost Widow, on the other hand ... well, I could see doing her Arc as her plans don't seem to have any inherent downside for the welfare of the Rogue Isles in general or Spider in particular ... but then again I have to work out why I'd be willing to betray her ....
What do the rest of you "heroic" villains think?
On the other hand, you are ordered to betray Ghost Widow, and not given any sort of choice in the matter. Were it up to me, every character that has taken her as a Patron would let her succeed and tell Arbiter Daos to go stuff it and he can send out as many goons after me as he wants, I'll smoke 'em all. Alas, you are not given such an option, so you can betray her with a clear conscience, since it isn't your choice. -
Quote:Isn't the Ernesto Hess Task Force all about defeating Archon Burkholder before he can complete the giant robot he is building in the heart of that same volcano?1. I was adventuring on Striga Island the other night and thought to myself, "Gosh, what a missed opportunity". I was looking at that volcano in the distance and remembering the Incredibles.... Rocket... Bad Guys....
OK let's spell it out for you. Let's say that instead of constantly running around after council or 5th column in tunnels there was actually a classic rocket ship being built in the volcano of Striga. The Council or 5th column would be building a moon base with a death ray to hold the world hostage. This would make a terrific task force mission. Especially since the last part of the mission could include taking a rocket to the moon and fighting the bad guys there and taking down the death ray.
Wish granted!
That being said, I wouldn't mind more missions where we could see the Doomsday Device being built in the evil mastermind's fortress and it was our job to stop it from happening.
I also wouldn't mind being the evil mastermind coming up with a way to take over the world and following my plan through to the bitter end. -
Quote:You do realize that you can up your level of challenge?Which is exactly the point of this thread, lol. The current trends seem to be leading to rather bland play; with no major drawbacks, there's no major challenge. I'd just like to see some thought needed before using powers, rather than "OK, everyone's buffed, I'll just nerf these guys and we'll do the same thing to the next spawn."
Using the Fateweavers and the Hero Corps Analysts, you can fight more enemies, you can fight higher level enemies.
If you really want to challenge yourself, you can flashback in Ourobouros and load up on the challenges (no inspirations, no temp powers, buffed enemies, etc.)
You can also build a character around a theme, rather than min/maxing the best build you can. Just because you can solo x8 / +1 maps with a Fire / Kin doesn't mean that you must play with a Fire / Kin. You have the option of playing a Grav / Storm Controller and seeing if you can make it work.
Once you take "fastest xp gain" off the table as your main goal in play, you can make the game as challenging as you like with the options already available to us. -
Quote:It is worth noting that, while you can buy lots (case lots) of influence through influence peddling sites, you should not, under any circumstances, do so.
I am aware you can buy lots (case lots) of influence (or a mark or a yen or a franc or a pound) but can you give that money to another character?
In addition to being against the EULA, which you agree to every time you boot up the game, and is a bannable offense under that EULA, buying influence from these people is extremely risky. You are giving your credit card and account information to people operating in another country against whom you have no legal recourse should they misuse your credit card or your City of Heroes account.
It is ridiculously easy to make influence in this game, and nothing is out of reach provided you practice a smidgeon of patience. You do not need to buy influence from anybody.
Long post short. Don't buy influence from influence peddlers. You put your account and credit card at risk. -
Quote:Accuracy is beneficial for any Archetype that makes to hit rolls against the enemy. Every attack that misses is Endurance wasted, and time lost waiting for the power to recharge to try again.Stupid question, but I think I have it figured out. Buffs enhance certain things, like accuracy, damage, defense, resistance and so on. Debuffs do the opposite, make it harder for the enemy.
Here's my question, why do some tank sets allow for Buffs to accuracy? And how beneficial is it really for a tank to do this.
I am talking about IO slotting specifically.
And the IO Sets are independent of Archetypes. A Resist Damage set can be used by any AT that has access to a power that provides Damage Resistance, which, thanks to Power Pools, is all of them. -
Nice use of the organic costume, by the way.
Derrick Ferris actually gives you an in to another name by association.
The words ferrous and ferric describe something with a high composition of iron, or having qualities normally found in iron.
So, he could be:
Ferrous Derrick (or Ferric Derrick, if you want it to rhyme)
Ferrous Fury (or Ferric Fury)
You could not be Ferric Lad, as that is a name used by DC comics for a member of the Legion of Super Heroes.
I also support the use of Argent in the name, although Argent by itself is out, as it is the name of a character from Grendel (the comic series).
Agent Argent, if he is a Loyalist.
Argent Rage or Argent Fury if the mutation causes him to be short tempered. -
Even three even level SOs will turn in a little bit of those diminishing returns. You wind up loosing somewhere between 3% and 7% on the third SO.
You would wind up loosing a little more of the third level 50 IO, but probably not more than 20%.
All numbers estimated from memory. If there is a link that provides the hard numbers, you should certainly consult it. That being said, I doubt that the third level 50 IO is wasted like a fourth SO will be, but you will not get full value out of it, either.
