  1. Disclaimer: The following is hearsay, and not directly experienced by me.

If you can hold off until Tuesday, I believe Mender Ramiel's arc is changing such that side-switching will no longer disrupt running his arc. (It might just take that long to get back to hero anyway depending on where you are now.)
  2. I bought a stack of Alchemical Silvers a couple weeks ago for 1,000,000 each instead of 10,000. Does that count?
  3. Well, part of the original reason for locking in enhancements was that it was one of the few if only influence sinks the game had in the beginning.

That said, Enhancement unslotters will be available for purchase in the new Paragon Market coming with I21. There will also be additional Enhancement trays available, up to a max of 30 (I think) slots (3 trays worth).

    Coh crashing

There isn't really anything that can be done to avoid it entirely, but to increase the amount of time between crashes, run as few programs as you can get away with while playing. Use of /unloadgfx after zoning may or may not help. If upgrading system memory is an option, you can do that.

Basically, maximize the amount of system memory the game has available to it. The game, over time, uses more and more system memory, until it reaches the point where there isn't anymore. Then it crashes. This is a flaw in the programming code of the game, so it's on the devs to find the problem and fix it. The more memory your computer has, the longer you can go without running out.

    Coh crashing

Ultimus: I know very little about drivers or why they crash, but judging by the error message in that screenshot, you were victim of a memory leak, rather than a crashed driver. That's an issue with the game itself, and has been around for awhile. Here's hoping they can find it and plug it soon.

Also, holy <insert deity here> that's a large screenshot. Maybe shrink it down next time?

    bugs or myths

In reverse order (because that's how I thought of answers to them):

Re: your recharge problem - I think what you are saying is that you use a power, and the power shrinks to minimum size and just stays that size? Thus never recharging, and being unusable? I have encounted that one a couple times myself. Thankfully it was during a hospital run, and not in mid combat, and the issue resolved on zoning back into the mission. I would say it's a bug, but I don't know why it would be happening.

Re: inspiration lag - do you mean it takes a moment to 'eat' the inspiration after you click it, or that it takes a moment to apply the effect after it is eaten? If the first, Inspirations are basically one shot powers, and as such cannot take effect while another power is animating. They queue up the same way you can queue an attack power. If you select a second attack while it's queued, you'll cancel the queue on the Inspiration. If your problem is the second, then I don't know why that would happen either unless server lag is involved (and hope I wasn't too condescending sounding in the first case explanation - I have no idea how long you've been playing).

Re: targeting - .....I got nuttin.
  7. Are you at the limit of open story arcs? I forget what that number is, but the total carries over between hero and villain, so you may need to clear one. I don't know if it would have to be Evil Ramiel's or not. Although if you don't go back to villain and clear it, it might keep counting against your limit.

I don't know how Good and Evil Ramiel interact. Once the book has appeared, I do not believe there is any way for players to clear it out other than completion. Maybe a petition could help?

Worst case is making another full circle from hero to villain to hero with a stop at vill just long enough to complete the arc. My personal opinion is that a delete is overkill, but then I understand some people know how to get to 50 in less than a week.
  8. I have a minor QoL suggestion regarding the LFG tab. (Gasp, someone uses it?) Yes, I know I'm an odd one, but on occasion I have actually gotten into trials using it. Anyway, the suggestion is: Make the tab name on top of the chat bar light up when you are in the Queue, similar to how the Email tab lights up if you have any Emails.

Sometimes I join the Queue, then go out to the Shadow Shard badge hunting (explos or Fake Nems/Overseers usually) and I'll hear of a trial forming over Global channels half an hour later. By this time I've forgotten I'm in the Queue, so I go over to join the trial and they can't invite me because I'm in the Queue.

Or slightly more annoyingly, I DON'T hear of a trial forming, finish my business out in the shard, and think "I want to do a mission." So I go grab a mission, get to the door, and for no reason I immediately can tell, the door says "You cannot enter." As if it's the wrong door or something. (I've forgotten I'm in the Queue, remember?) So I abandon/complete the mission and grab another, only to have the same thing happen again. That's usually the point at which I remember "Duh. I'm in the Queue." I'm one of those people who having the lit up Email drives them nuts, so having the LFG light up would surely remind me.

I realize this is a very minor thing. (Honestly it only takes 2 seconds to quit the Queue once I'm reminded I need to.) Still, I think it would be nice. Would this be more annoying to others than useful? Am I too much a minority? Harder work than it sounds? No opinion? Thoughts?

We already have a Player note system, although it's not connected to the friends list. Which in my opinion makes it more useful, as you can make notes about non-friends and ignored people. To use it, right click on the person/person's name in chat and select Edit Note. This brings up a dialog box where you can write the note and rate the player 1-5 stars. This note is dealt with on a global level, so you can check the note even when the player is on a different character.

I hope I got the details right of using the system, I'm sure someone will point it out if I got it wrong.

By the way, this topic is probably better off in the Suggestions and Ideas forum in the For Fun section.

And B) will those of us with dozens of characters (and only maybe 6-8 redeemed slots, none purchased) be given the choice of which of our existing characters will be ported over? I'll have a hell of a time picking to be honest, but there are about 6 that I would really hate to lose. Yes, I know they'd be waiting for me when I can get back to VIP status, but I'd love to have access to them sooner.
I can only really answer 2B for sure. Yes, you will choose which characters/slots you have access to when you drop to premium. Keep in mind that if you pick all filled slots, you will have to delete a character in order to make a new one though.

I'm not sure the answer to 4 has been released yet.

The typing of an attack has absolutely nothing to do with the effects of that attack. If the devs wanted to, they could make an attack usable in Melee range that dealt Fire damage, but type it as protected against by Ranged defense and Psionic defense.

Thankfully, the Devs type attacks using a bit more common sense. Many (most?) attacks in the game have both a Positional defense type (Melee, Ranged, AoE) and a, for lack of a better word, "Typed" defense type (Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative, Psionic). A single attack can have as few or as many of these defense types as desired. Usually, the devs pick the appropriate Positional type, and also the damage types that are dealt by the attack.

This is why Fireball is a notable exception, as it deals Smashing damage, but is not protected by Smashing defense - it lacks a type corresponding to the damage it deals. Other notable exceptions include Mind Control powers, which usually have no Positional type, just Psionic type, and Hamidon's attacks which are either a unique type to themselves (thus cannot be defended against) or are completely untyped (not sure which it is, I think the first).

So in short, generally speaking, if an attack deals Smashing or Lethal damage, it is probably defended against by Smashing or Lethal Defense. The fact that so many attacks deal either one or the other is why S/L is so desired. It's not that something typed AoE would be blocked by S/L, but that the attack is typed both AoE and S/L, thus S/L covers it.
  12. Did you try without the spaces at all? I dimly recall that being a solution to some kind of E-mail related problem, but no clue what the problem was. (Or even if it was just a dream >.>)
  13. Something I didn't see addressed: Story Arc merit rewards do not suffer from diminishing returns when you run them back to back as Task Forces do. So if you have a favorite arc and more people interested than you can take/are available, you can run the arc twice (or more) in the same day and get full rewards each time.
  14. Short answer is you don't. I'm not sure what you're seeing, but only the Tier 3 Alpha 'Level Shift' increases your level outside of an Incarnate Trial. The Tier 3 Lore and Destiny 'Incarnate Shift' increases your level only inside an Incarnate Trial. Outside an I-trial, the most you should see is (+1). Inside I-trials you can see (+2) or (+3), 1 from each Tier 3 Alpha, Lore, and Destiny.
  15. Well, with regards to Sleet (That's similar to Freezing Rain, right?) - When I check the logs for my Stormie, I only ever see it missing, and never connecting - I think it just doesn't show successful hit rolls, because the enemy has obviously been hit, but the hit roll never showed up that it was.

Also, after awhile the enemy chance to hit you was down around 10%. I counted roughly 30-40 attacks in there, and it doesn't surprise me to get a streak like that where only 3 or 4 should have connected anyway. It's kinda like cascading defense failure, only in reverse - once they stopped hitting you, they stopped being able to hit you.
  16. Found another thread in the Dev Digest about this issue - turns out the change to the new WST happened about 4 hours late this week. Good news is that you can still run the proper TF/SF to get your reward if you ran it before the change.
  17. Um, based on your other thread, you already had an installed and (mostly) working installation. Have you been able to log in with it ever? Because the GR expansion doesn't need to be installed separately from the rest of the game. There's only one client version, you just enter the access code to your account to enable access to things you didn't have available before. So, you shouldn't need to install anything.

If you didn't ever have log in ability, I can't help with the error messages.

I typed in /respec and wound up in the RESPEC menu however when I clicked back out I had been dropped from the queue and had to re-enter

Then I tried the tailor, I am in the RWZ at the moment so this is all very easy, and again I was able to access the costume design menus but once again when I left I was not in the queue any longer

I entered the queue again and tried to enter my SG. I did get inside but when I came back out again I had been removed from the queue. While I was inside the SG base the LFG tab was totally blank not showing anything at all but the message that I could not enter my SG or run missions while in the queue.

Then I tried zoning. I went to the portal in the RWZ and went to FF. I'd been removed from the queue. To test I re-entered the queue and zoned back into the RWZ. once again I'd been removed.

Then I hit the store and tried to enhance. Now this seemed to take a bit longer but that may simply be due to the number of people here in RWZ 1 right now but two times I opened up the window to view my enhancements and both times when I came back out for about 2-3 seconds it appeared like I was still in the queue and then the button went green again and I had to rejoin the queue.
Wendy's experiment's results has run counter to my own experience, so I decided to re-conduct it (mostly) as she described. My tests took place on Champion server, around 2:20 in the morning. I logged into Atlas Park, just outside the SG portal. I joined the Queue using the BAF and 'willing to join in progress' options. I left the LFG screen open as much as able and unattached for these tests.

I typed /respec selected 4 powers and backed out of the respec screen. I witnessed no change to my LFG status after a few minutes of waiting (however long it has taken me to type this paragraph.)

As there is no Tailor in Atlas, and I was just outside the SG portal, I chose to enter that next. The LFG screen closed itself, and when opened only stated 'Events can not be queued.. etc. etc.' I turned around and left. The LFG window closed again when I got back into Atlas. But it appeared I was still in the Queue.

I next decided to run to RWZ for both a zoning test and a Tailor test. I ran to the Vanguard base door at Sprint speeds and by the time I reached the portal (and typed this far) my LFG status seemed unchanged.

Upon Zoning into RWZ and re-opening the LFG window (it doesn't seem to like to stay open after zoning), I was still in the Queue. I Sprint ran out of the Vanguard base, along the war wall road to the AE building, turned right around and ran back to the tailor in the Mech Bay (and typed this paragraph) to allow sufficent time for a delay in status update. Still showing as in Queue.

I went into the Tailor screen and adjusted my Destiny colors (as I had not had the opportunity as yet) and accepted the changes. No change in Queue status. I waited a few minutes before re-entering Tailor and immediately backing out. I used my Destiny after this second exit and by the time it recharged (2 minutes I think) there was no change to Queue status.

I sold a recipe to the quartermaster, then entered the Enhancement screen. I read one of my power's pop-ups to see percentages of enhancement, then backed out. In the time it took to run 10 laps around Lady Grey's pillar and type this paragraph, my LFG status did not appear to change.

At this point, I closed the LFG window for 15 seconds, then opened it again. I used my Destiny and by the time it recharged (and I typed this paragraph), no change to LFG.

At this point I decided the experiment was over, and concluded the Queue is not affected by the things I tested it for. Unfortunately, because it was so early, there were no BAF forming, so I was unable to test whether I was truly in the Queue, or just displaying as in the Queue.

Because of the differences in Wendy's and my experiences, I considered what might have caused the change in behavior. First, the early hour of my test likely means the queue itself saw very little change. It might have been able to 'remember' I was there more easily and automatically placed me back in when I was out of the SG base/full screen UI. In a period of heavy activity, this function may have failed, assuming it exists. I may have to try to conduct my tests again at a more populated hour to eliminate this possiblity. This seems the most likely reason for the difference.

Second, the possibly different server would have a seperate queue, so perhaps this is some form of bug on just one server's LFG system. I don't know what server Wendy frequents, but I think this possibility unlikely.

Third, perhaps Wendy stumbled across a bug requiring a particular order of activity. In this case, without knowing her exact steps, it may be next to impossible to replicate. If this bug/feature is more widespread than just her, the likelihood of this possibility drops.

Fourth, and related to whether I was actually in the Queue, I don't know if the LFG window would auto-update it's own status. Therefore, I cannot confirm that I was truly in the Queue the entire time as opposed to the window simply not updating. This possibilty would be very unlikely in my opinion. I had the red 'Leave Queue' button at the bottom the entire time. I also would hope that closing/reopening the window at the end would have refreshed the status automatically.

In conclusion, I believe that neither zoning, nor entering a Full-screen UI removes one from the queue. Entering a SG base does for the duration one is inside, but you are placed back into it once leaving. I have a dim memory of once getting the 'last-chance to back out, Enter the trial now' sound at the tailor, backing out and clicking Enter, but I am not willing to state that it definitely can happen.

You may get better help in the Technical Issues and Bugs Forum. This forum tends toward in-game questions like where to find certain enemies or how to craft Incarnate boosts.
(My first thought on reading your problem was that the launcher might be trying to overwrite itself, but with the new launcher, I'm not sure how to remedy that.)

If I am understanding your thought process, not quite. You can earn Reward Merits instead of Alignment Merits as a Rogue or Vigilante, but you cannot convert them into A-Merits until you are full Hero or Villain again. The conversion is done inside Fort Trident/The Crucible which as mentioned is for full heroes/villains only. If your target is A-Merits, you might as well do your tip missions as a Hero/Villain and get them directly rather than going Rogue/Vig and doing reinforcement there and then needing to do another set to go back Hero/Vill to convert then another set to go back Rogue/Vig. By the way, you get 30 Merits for the first Rogue/Vig reinforcement and 60 for each subsequent one. (Compare to 50 for the first Hero/Villain and 1 A-Merit for subsequent ones.)

    Appreciate the response.
You will have most of the access to Blueside Ouro. I think there may be a few arcs that require you to have run a previous arc before they unlock. Keith Nance/Jenny Adair I think works this way. Before you can select Jenny in Ouro you have to have done Nance's arc first. Redside badge unlockable contacts do this too, in that you have to have the required badge. But the vast majority of contect is available to you from the start.

Heroes and Vigilantes have Blue-Ouro access, and Villains and Rogues have Red-Ouro access.
  24. I took my MVAS out to a pylon too, with my vet buff pet. Both the MVAS and the buff pet took about 50% damage, then weren't hit again, and the chance for them to be hit was in the 7% range. I think they just have mad AoE defense so every AoE aimed your way doesn't wipe them out. Although them getting hit at all should have killed them, so I dunno what happened there.
