Mini Vanguard HVAS Pet

So, the other night, I jumped on one of my level 50 toons, my enrgy/enrgy Blaster. Since it's been a few weeks since I played her, I noticed I had a option to activate a mini Vanguard HVAS Pet. Does no damage and just flys around with you like the little pets the long time vets get that just look cute. I think I saw a caption that said he was great for parties..heh. The question is, I cannot figure out how I got this little guy? I think I quickly read the info that said something for all my hard work within Vanguard and that was my reward, not 100% sure? I tried to find something more on this via paragonwiki but could not find anything saying that this was just a temp pet for a short period of time or something permanent. Does anyone know more on this? Thanks.

You got him for maintaining an active subscription from February 1 to April 18th, via the Vanguard Pack.

As Korith and Ironblade pointed out, the MVAS is a loyalty reward pet. Enjoy your new tiny robot!

My question is why do these pets show up in my active pet window, have hit points (110) and a level (50+1), take damage and can be buffed, but are not combat active?

As far as the "damage" it takes, I've seen it take AoE and falling damage.

Wait. Can you actually name them?!?! Or is this just a "refer to" sort of thing. In any case those mechs are just so cute at this size. I figured it would just mentally process as a normal one but further away or something (since they don't seem to have much distortion, just a direct resize) but they just seem 100% more awesome when tiny.

the mini pet looks awesome, but i wish it was actually a combat pet, i could care less if it was weak, just wishing it could be useful instead of just eye candy

It's odd that it shows up in the pet window, but other vet non-combat pets don't.

But he's pretty cool. ^_^

I thought the same thing -- and with a HP total, too. Strange. But cute.

I just stood next to a Pylon for several minutes (they have a 25 foot radius AoE attack) and my MVAS seems to be fine.

They also fly so I don't know how it could take falling damage. But even so, falling damage can't kill things and is a special mechanic. If in theory they can take falling damage but nothing else can target them, they still can't be killed.

They're targetable but not buffable, and aren't affected by AoE buffs. Enemies don't attack them, or even be alerted by their presence.

I took my MVAS out to a pylon too, with my vet buff pet. Both the MVAS and the buff pet took about 50% damage, then weren't hit again, and the chance for them to be hit was in the 7% range. I think they just have mad AoE defense so every AoE aimed your way doesn't wipe them out. Although them getting hit at all should have killed them, so I dunno what happened there.

I've seen buff pets "take damage" a few times. It's always 50%. I don't think it's from falling damage because they're in a constant fly status, and since they only have 10 HP they should lose more than half from falling. I don't really know what it is, but it's not from attacks and it's never enough to kill htem.

It would have been nice to be able to have the ability to name these guys like MM's can do with their pets. Thus, making them much more attached to your toon and your toons personality like a true pet instead of just having the Vanguard HVAS display with the toons name below it. Heck, I pretty much have names for all of them for my toons. For my level 50 Blaster Fusion 7, I planned on calling it "Little Fuse". For my Scrapper Torchinana, giving it the name of "Little Spark". For my Stalker Cattalina, calling it "Fur Ball". See, now doesn't that sound like fun?
