  1. If this question was asked already sorry for the repeat, but what about partial refunds for unused Paragon Points? I bought $100 worth a points back in July and still have well over half of those left. Will there be any prorated refund for large sums of Paragon points still left on the account?

    Thanks

    New install

So unbeknown to me that CoX is shutting down I order a new gaming rig that came today. All of this is fine since the rig will serve me well on other games but I would still like to run CoX for the last few months on the new rig.

So I pull out my copy of Going Rouge and install the game, get the short cut on my desk top and run the game thinking I'll get the updater to patch the game and I can log into my account.

However I run the short cut and I get a pop up that asks if I want to let the CoX updated make changes to the game I click yes and nothing happens. Have they totaly diabled updating and reloading the game even for those with active accounts?
  3. Here,s my Ill/Rad build, post level 50 and very expensive.

At this time I have base PA recharge down to 2 minutes and a global recharge of:
    128.75% base
    198.75% base + hasten
    228.75% base + hasten + AM
    298.75% base + hasten + AM + ageless core

Factoring in all recharge both hasten and AM is permanent and my PA’s recharge in 50 seconds.

Yes, it may well be over kill on recharge but it gives you a few seconds from the time your PA's rechage to the time your active PA's start to fade.

  4. The timer was put in place to end PvP enhancement farming. all it took was two characters, both out of the way in some far off corner of a PvP zone. One with an attack set to auto fire and one with a rise of the phoenix or some other self rez set on auto, both AFK. Kill, rez, repeat, for days on end guaranteed PvP drops.

Now with the auto hospital set at two minutes and since enhancements don’t work when you’re dead there’s no self rez power that can be set to auto fire that will recharge fast enough to make this work.
  5. When I see a post like this the first thing I think is: Why?
Don't just fling a Mids data chunk down and say "You fix, NOW!"

Tell us something about your build, what you want to farm and why?

Second Search is your friend, there are at least 10,001 threads about farming and farming builds and there answers will be far more complete then any answer you get here.
  6. I would make the suggestion of an Ill/Rad, you get your first pets at 17 so you don’t need to wait for 32 and the rad secondary is by far one of the best secondary’s in the game.

My Ill/Rad is fully incarnated and IO’d to the max, a true GOD able to solo any AV or GM in the game, solo’ed the full DA story line at x8+4 with AV’s enabled and have even farmed x8+4. I love playing her and still bring her out almost daily.

The only down side is the cost, in terms of cost when she neared 50 and as I further invested in her build I easily spent 3 to 4 billion in influence on her. Today the prices and availability of high end IO’s have come down a lot and it should be a lot cheaper to get her from hero to GOD status.

Other good controllers that maybe don’t live in the spotlight that I would recommend:

Darkness/Dark affinity, nice damage (not the best but not bad) good solo and great as a debuffer on a team, mine is in her mid 30’s.

Elc/Rad nice synergy between the sets and an great control controller, dose well at locking down large mobs for teams with mostly single target damage or for small teams running at x7 or x8. Mine hit 30 last night.
  7. I could imagine that the double hit buff would NOT affect pets across the board; it would make then to powerful, just think of 3 fulcrum shifted fire imps hitting for double damage … WOW!!!!!

But I do wonder about the passive 10% buff, where does that buff originate? Since the damage to PA’s can be buffed by slotting damage enhancements would the buff act like an enhancement like the Alpha slot does?
  8. What the general consciences as to what the best Hybrid power is to slot into an Ill/Rad that’s main focus is solo and AV/GM killing with some minor Teaming?

Wondering about how the hybrid powers affect PA’s and epic power pool attacks since that’s where a good chunk of my damage comes from.
  9. Dark_Tower

    Ion Judgment

I don’t think it has anything to do with the power itself, as in there being some limit to how frequently it can be fired and still chain.

What’s most likely happening is that in events where mutable peeps are fire off their Judgments at or near the same time there is so much extra damage going on that the target or the mob next in line for the chain dies and the chain never forms or stops before you notice it.

If someone triggers an Ion blast just before the target dies then the blast still finishes but since the target is dead the chain that would have formed dies to.
  10. I’m just throwing this out for critique, commits and feedback.
This is my in game build as it stands right now, it was built for maximum recharge to obtain permanent hasten and permanent PA to solo AV’s and GM’s and to tank in large team if needed.

  11. The only thing I would add to this and this may not even be a factor for you but is worth noting for other.

If you started life as a villain or became one and then switched back you can pick up major story arc's over on red side that remain open even when you've switched back to blue side and can no longer access or even see those contacts in your list anymore.

So if you have 2 open arc’s blue side and 3 red side you will not be able to get anymore, until you clear out some. This could mean going fully villain again just to check before returning back to blue side.
  12. While threads like this can be fun, imagining what kind of damage, buffs and de-buffs you’ll be able to push out and how fast AV’s and the like will melt the truth is any 8 man team all with the same build will be able to wipe the floor with just about anything.

As it was stated above they are called “Super Teams” for a reason. I’ve like to see someone put together a “Super Team” with a bit more randomness involved.

Take a dice and assign a number to each of the major arch-type categories and roll for it.

    1. Tank
    2. Melee
    3. Ranged
    4. Crowd Control
    5. Support
    6. Pets

If for example you rolled a 5 then you would roll again for the arch-type itself.

    1. Controller
    2. Defender
    3. Mastermind
    4. Corruptor
    5. Widow
    6. Soldier

Once that was decided roll again for your primary and secondary power sets.

You may end up with a great super team, say 8 fire/rads, but you might find things a bit more challenging, I imagine an 8 man team of stone/stone tanks would be un-killable but might have a hard time taking down an AV just the same.

I might just be intrested in joining a team like this .... (?)

My account is still active and being paid for (VIP) while I'm gone, but I want to know what will happen to these items once the email expires. I assume that they'll just be deleted, but will there be any way for me to recover them upon returning?
What I read into what he’s saying and asking is that his computer is broken, or he will have no access to a computer for awhile. So logging back in and claiming the email is not possible.

To answer the question, barring some crash of the email system when the 50 days expire the email will be returned to sender, and by sender I mean the character that sent the email. Yes I know you sent it to your global name and all the characters are you but when you log back in you will have to log onto the character that sent it.

Now that said I don’t know what will happen to the email if 50 days pass and it gets sent back and then another 50 days pass, not sure if a return to sender email can expire.

(I think I miss read your question, I thought you claimed the store sent email and then sent them to another character on your global account, in which case the above is true, if you still have the store sent email then your golden untill the servers go black)

And if you don’t untarget and retarget it will stay invalid for you even as it takes damage and dies to other peoples attacks.

I’ve given up on single target attacks and holds and just drop non-targeted AoE’s and rain type powers. Every once and a while I’ll be able to tab though and lock on to a target that’s valid and I’ll hit it with a targeted AoE but I won’t waste my time with anything less.

  16. little know fact, the battle cry emote plays on whatever chat channel you in at the time. You were likely in team chat even though you were not on a team, it's done this way so you can have your battle cry play in both local and team as well as all other channels that you want without having to bind it over and over again.

    Event Fail

As an event to add color and to mix things up a bit this would be fine, but as an 8 year anniversary event this is an EPIC FAIL, someone truly just phoned this in.

Like the lack of story and back ground, one article a week before that left you hanging waiting for more info, then nothing and still we don’t really know much, like why is the plan called Fallen Thunder and why has Nemesis waited this long for a full scale invasion.

Then there’s my biggest complaint, it’s just a re-skin for the Rikti invasion with less going on, there are no ships flying over head blasting people, there are no bombs being dropped and there are less badges to be earned.

This whole event took some intern 15 minutes in AE to type up a quick story and change the enemy group from Rikti to Nemesis and hit republish.
  18. I’m looking for someone with whom I can trade level for level time with. I have a level 50+1 SS/Fire brute and a custom made fire farm that I use and can efficiently level up anyone in exchange for the same.

This would just be a casual arrangement to level new characters up out of the low doldrums, not to take a character all the way up to 50.

If you have a character that’s capable of farming and you want a few of your new characters leveled up send me a PM or contact me in game and we can work something out.

Please only contact me if you want to trade levels for levels, I don’t want to take someone’s hand out or pay someone though some other means.

    @Nevermore
  19. Just want to say thanks for all the feedback, info and suggestions. At this time I think I have enough info to realistically buy with confidence and will likely be placing an order in the next 2 to 3 weeks based a lot on the links Hyperstrike posted.

By all means keep the thread going if others are getting good info, I have it bookmarked and will be checking back especially when I get ready to order and Hyperstrike I will likely send you a PM or two when I get the products derived if I need a suggestion or a something’s got me stumped as I’m putting it together.

As for Windows 8 I don’t care how good it is I won’t buy it until they release the first major update and fix everything they broke when they pushed it out, so I would think December 2012 or January 2013 at best.

Justice29, putting a computer together really isn’t that hard once you get all the parts you need it’s just modular assembly job, boxes inside boxes. My big issue is getting all the parts and making sure all the parts fit together. You have to buy the right chip set for the right motherboard with a power supply that delivers enough juice for the all the demand. Other then that the only other risk is putting the chip set into the motherboard wrong or applying the thermal paste wrong. Ok so maybe it’s not “Easy” but if I can tackle the job I’m sure you can.

Were I building right now, I'd probably go this route.
    There fixed it for you

But the joke aside it's a nice set-up I think the only thing I would change is to go with the newer i7 chip set.

now as for the suggestions in this thread are hugely overkill for CoH yeah they are if all I wanted was to run CoH on a little better them base line I'd stick with my laptop that I'm using now. I'm looking forward to the next 2 or 3 years of CoH and other games both out now and soon to be out.
  21. Again, thanks for the info; I have a lot to chew though now

Originally I was planning on just going to Best Buy and getting one that was recommended, now I’m thinking of building one myself.

Years ago I did build one myself but it was a pain and I still needed help from a friend to put all the pieces together, but building yourself still seems like the better way and you end up with a product you know and can modify later.

This will be a totally fresh start, right now I’m playing on a Laptop that I will be keeping up to date for mobile use and for school as needed, and so I’ll need to buy everything. I’m looking to spend as I said about $1,500 to $1,700 not counting the monitor so the $2,000 is about max total that I want to spend, but that could change to if something really strikes my fancy an extra day or two of overtime will fix that.

I’ll be looking around the web for a good detailed builders guide or if anyone can link one that would be great too.
  22. Thanks for the great info.

Multi-boxing has always been something that I've wanted to do but I never gave it much thought since I knew I couldn't do it on my rig and I never wanted to pay for two accounts. Now though I can start a F2P and take that account ViP only when I need it.

What can you tell me about liquid cooling, what maintenance is needed, do I have to change the "Oil" every 3 trillion MB's?

Any modals out there that are getting some buzz that are in my price range or any go to manufactures along the lines of AlienWear without the cost overhead that they have.

Oh and another thing, what is the true definition of a “Gaming Computer” looking around all the web sites I see things like “Extreme Gaming Computer” and “PC Gamer Extreme” tossed around on almost every rig, and most of them list the new Intel i7 chip as well, but range in price from $599 to $5,000. Now I guess to some a $599 rig that plays Tetris would be considered a gaming rig but is there a minimum spec that would be considered a true gaming computer?
  23. Hello everyone:

I’m looking for some down low on a new high end gaming computer for this and other games coming down the line.

First off I’m leaning towards a PC desk top, but I’m still tossing around the idea of a Mac, so thoughts on PC Vs. Mac?

    Also:

What do you consider the best video card?
Something like the Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 or the Dual ATI Radeon HD 6870 CrossfireX or is there something else out there?

How much RAM should I be looking at? It seems most gaming rigs come with between 8GB and 16GB with expansion slots.

Processors and processor speeds? Should I be looking for a 4 core or a 6 core? Is 3.3GHz good or should I be shooting for a 4.0GHz over clocked liquid cooled processor?

Lastly, price, I’m looking to spend between $1,000 to $2,000 roughly.

If you can link some good sites or some rig specs that would be great.

One final question, looking at some specs out there Alien Wear seems to be top of the line, but coming in at $3,000 to $4,000 they seem a little pricy for a rig that’s only a little better them the other rigs out there that run less than $2,000. Are they worth the price or are you just buying bright lights and a name brand?

    Tank Help

Tanking in the way you’re talking about it, as in being the leader of the pack is less about the build or for that matter even the arch-type and more of the mindset of the player (like the scrapper you saw).

All tanks/brutes and many other arch-types can herd and lead a team and all tanks can overcome their arch-types weaknesses. Sure a Stone tank is inherently slow with rooted and granite armor running but with teleport and run speed bonuses from IO’s you can overcome that deficiency, some of the funniest tanking I’ve ever done is teleport-tanking by TP’ing into a mob hitting an AoE attack and TP’ing to the next mob before returning to my group for them to clean the floor with them.

An invulnerability tank can handle the same level of mobs as a stone with again the right build, the same can be said of a shield tank, the defiance is that Stone and Inv. Are resistance based and Shield is defense based both have their advantages and disadvantages, it just comes down the how you play and how much money your willing to spend on the build.

My advise build a tank and play it, see what you think and get some experience under your belt, you’ll make some mistakes and correct them as you discover ways to do it better, maybe you’ll start a few tanks or brutes and find one you like better.

Let’s say you have character that have never done either of the 2 SSA’s, the first time you did part 1 you would be able to clam an alignment merit, you could then move on and do part 2 and clam yet another alignment merit. Further more you could then do either of the two parts again and clam yet another alignment merit. This third run through either of the2 arcs would start a 7 day cool down period during which time and additional run troughs would trigger a different reward table that did not include alignment merits.

After the 7 day cool down period you could then go back and run either of the two arcs again for another alignment merit, until part 3 goes live and you would be able to once again clam 2 merits on one character within a 7 day period.
