Merit rewards from flashbacks versus task forces

How do they compare? I've been thinking about starting up regular flashback PUGs for the hell of it, but considering the... convenience issues surrounding flashback mode, I'm worried whether or not any prospective teammates would find it a worthwhile exercise.

Well, to be fair, a lot of TFs don't need an eight-man team either. Thanks for the link, though.

Also, on a tangent, will a base-based pillar work for starting a flashback, even if not all team members happen to be Lv25 or higher?

According to this P-wiki page, yes.

You will be able to run the flashback, but I think the lowbies will still be unable to actually enter Ouro.

Indeed. Amuzingly (and frustratingly), even a low-level character can run a flashback through a base pilar, get the "entrusted with the secret" badge for it, gain the Ouroboros portal power and still have to wait till he's 25 to actually enter it. I used to summon those just for kicks or as a courtesy for higher-level characters when I was too low-level to cross the threshold.

Last time I tried, the Pillar refused to allow the flashback to start if any teammates were under 25, even if the leader was 25+ and all teammates were in the proper level range for the mission.

As far as merit rewards goes, take a look at the Old Positron Task Force. Before the revamp, it was worth 66 merits. After the revamp (it was unchanged, except moving it to Ouro and adjusting the merit reward to the Story Arc formula) it became worth 40. So, based on average completion time, TFs are a bit more than 50% better than Story Arcs. Of course, speed runners can make some of these far more efficient.

...
The pillar in a SG Base?

If that is true, then the P-wiki page needs to be updated.

It does not need to be updated. I don't know what bug Roderick ran into, but if the leader is over 25 (let's say 50 for ease), and their teammate is (for example) level 12, and is selecting a flashback in the "Protector of Innocents" range (1-15), it works. If they select from any other range, it will not work, since the teammate does not meet the minimum level requirements. If the leader is 50 and the teammate is 44, they cannot choose the "Hero of the City" (45+) level range, but can choose any other level range. Etc.

It's been back and forth between allowing sub-25's and not allowing them a few times. I don't use the pillar often enough to know which is intended and which is the bug, or whether or not it currently works. Thanks for clearing that up.

Ahhhh

Teammates must meet minimum requirements for the selected Flashback.
That makes more sense, thank you.

Something I didn't see addressed: Story Arc merit rewards do not suffer from diminishing returns when you run them back to back as Task Forces do. So if you have a favorite arc and more people interested than you can take/are available, you can run the arc twice (or more) in the same day and get full rewards each time.

Champion 50s (blueside): Marc Bridge, Nicole Bridge, Fred Blaze, Colleen Storms, Sun's Chariot, Moon's Huntress, Point of Pride
Guardian 50s (redside): Connie Mand
AE arc: Spirit Plane Invasion, #29282, @Honbrid
