Worst case scenario, you'd have to make the +end temporary power for single target fights (people even do this for pylon challenges already) and you could still run Barrier for your pets. You already said you had boosters so I didn't need to worry about the extra IO in Hasten, and you'd only need +2's, not +5's for your defense toggles on my build. You also already said you could live without Omega Maneuver. Kind of sending mixed signals here and I am disappointed that I chose to participate in your contest now since it doesn't seem like it is being run fairly at all. I have met all the conditions you set and you're still keeping it going which seems very underhanded to me.
I have to say I kind of see his point.
  4. AS is the best place for StJ because AS also gives +2 combo points. So you can do some sick burst damage with AS followed by (hidden crit) CU. And some sick BU (from hide) - AS - CU damage.

A chain that incorporates AS also frequenty has a 1-combo point builder before AS, meaning that CU will not only crit but crit with 3 combo points.

However, the solution is actually pretty easy. Vengeance, Purple Candy, and Kinetic Dampeners. The Crab has everything you could ever desire, sans the candy. For regular missions use bases, /auctionhouse, etc, to stock medium purples. Kinetic Dampener temps last 30 minutes and are easy to craft. Use each as needed and you can easily get through a trial or mission, and restock/recraft/recharge between missions/trials.

The iCapped Huntsman gives up Aid Self in order to iCap defense. I'm not currently running the iCap version, as I'm debating the value of the iCapped version vs a standard soft-capped version with aid self. The build can be found in my archives below, or as a direct link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15076020/Hun...0Incarnate.mxd.
Lack of Crab RES, Serum, and other Crabby goodness makes me sad.

I have a 50 Fire/Time corr. I see my SG mates playing 50 Time/DP Defs. I went Fire for the reason above. But in DP's favor, it has a nice short-recharge Tier 9 nuke/PBAOE that seems to synergize well with the other PBAOE. Sometimes it feels that while I am plinking away using Fireball and Rain of Fire (and Fire Breath), they are doing more PBAOE using this nuke. *shrug*

I'm surprised to hear that because one of the most uber players I know on Crabs, @Linea, has a ~45% super tough crab that was getting shredded by the def-debuffing DA mobs that hit hard ...described as "like Romans" but with higher to-hit. Tsoo, no problem. But the Knives/Talons (whichever do the debuffing) and the BP, hard.

Also, a bit more recharge wouldnt hurt. You have 15s of Hasten downtime. Without Hasten, Living Shadows has a 4.5s recharge. Thats a loong time. Suggestion for that:
    - Slot Shadow field for recharge (Basilisk or Unbreakable). You are not getting much from procs in a power that gets fired once every 75s
    - TG can go with 3 (the 4th bonus is not great), so you can 3slot hasten
    - you have room for more Lotg 7.5 (Maneuvers, Fade)

Another tip, if you have SS because you like it or concept, then forget what im saying, but if you want invis, you can put the celerity proc in Sprint. Sprint+proc+shadowfall = full invis

    Hope this helps
Thanks. I thought Bile Spray / Water Spout / Coralax would be at least equivalent damage, especially for single target, to Fire Ball / Fire Blast. Why do you think giving them up for Fire Ball / Blast would be better?

I find I barely use Dark Grasp ... is it really worth slotting for damage?

Good points on LotG and maybe changing the shadow field slotting. I thought damage procs in shadow field would do more damage. Isn't it bugged right now with store-bought procs and firing all the time?
  9. Ok controller forum lords ... Would love input on the build below.

Ran my dark/dark/leviathan troller vs a pylon. Average of 6mins for ~234 dps. Not great. Pre-incarnate Ill/Colds are getting 300+ in times of 2.30 mins.

Feels safe and helpful on teams, but boy does the damage seem weak. I went Leviathan for cones goodness of Fearsome, Living Shadows (4 procs!), and Bile Spray. Plus extra pets in Water Spout and Coralax to run alongside Haunts, Fluffy, and Barky.

But the dmg is weak. Against +3s the procs hit for like 45 and the pets do 50-80 dmg per hit. Ack!

Also seems to have accuracy probs vs +3s and higher.

Open to ideas because I don't want to strip him after all the work leveling and IO-ing.

  10. Why not take fireball instead? Much faster recharge = better dps. The recharge on SA kills it for me.
  11. THB, I would ask you to reconsider your position once things cool off a bit. This game thrives when people share ideas and post builds and help other people. It makes for better gaming all around. Over the years I have had tons of selfless help from great souls like Werner, Iggy Kamakaze, BassAckwards, Ricodeh, and even you (I posted about your Fire/MM build in the pylon thread).

This game has never been about loot enabling one player to somehow lord over another.

People have time, or money, but generally not both. Selling stuff in the paragon market makes it a more "level playing field" for people who can't spend hours in the game (playing or marketing) to get higher end items. And it does it in a way that helps the game, not that helps [insert ethnic group] gold farmers. People are buying purples today but through grey/black channels. This legitimizes it. That's all. And at the pricing scheme that's been proposed, I can't see very many people doing it. It's like US$20 per purple set.

I really hope you will reconsider and continue to help the community.
  12. The correct nickname is Barky. Just like we have Fluffy.

    Fm/Inv critique

I used to have a super awesome FM/INV brute but I have moved on to other things. It was before the Enzyme nerf. I have replaced the Enzymes in this build with Cytos. It should be roughly 45.5% to S/L/E/N and you could fix that with enhancement boosters. Or use something in place of the cytos.

The chain here was Gloom-Inc-Cremeate-FS which was relatively high single-target DPS at the time. Cardiac for alpha. Maybe this gives you some ideas. One thing missing is ATOs and the fury proc.

  17. with the fury proc in the ATO set brutes are back to parity or higher for sustained DPS. Scraps generally have the burst damage nod (except probably vs. SS/Fire/Soul brutes)

That means the Enhancement Converters were coded, possibly reviewed, and committed by 3/14. Double XP weekend has nothing to do with this.

Intentionally making Reward Merits more valuable than other Merits by selling new things initially only for Reward Merits is possible, but there's no basis for making such a claim that I've ever heard. And this goes against the current push which is for Incarnate Trials which I think just give Astrals and Emps.

Rogues and Vigilantes already have a bone, they can do content on both side. All of the smart people were Rogues and Vigilantes after Going Rogue came out. There was no bone for true heroes or villains till Alignment Merits came out. Regardless, I don't see how not selling Enhancement Converters to Heroes or Villains particularly helps Rogues or Vigilantes. That doesn't seem relevant.

Are you just arguing or did you really mean all that stuff?

It is certainly possible that Enhancement Converters were fixed badly, either by someone who didn't know what they were doing or by someone who didn't have time to think about what they were doing. Then they were committed either without any review or by someone who didn't have the time or competence to properly review the change. The changes may have been tested. Then they were put into production, and after we complained about it they were listed as known to be broken. Maybe internal testing found that they were broken, but there were a lot of fixes in this build. It would not have been appropriate to hold it up due to Enhancement Converters even if they were known to be partially broken. That's a really simple business decision.

It's sad that multiple people dropped the ball, and those of us who have been looking forward to and preparing for Enhancement Converters for upwards of 4 months have to wait even longer. It's sad that the focus of the world today is on profit, do it well enough to attract customers, but you don't have time to do it right, because you have to work on the next big thing to attract customers. I can see someone in NCSoft saying, "Well at least some people will have Enhancement Converters, that's good enough." It's sad that we as customers have to deal with this, because every MMO does it.

But it's also sad that this could have been done intentionally to increase sales of Super Packs. A smart Marketing weasel could have said, "What would it take to sell more Super Packs? We already have unique costume codes. ATOs aren't doing it. People have complained about getting too many Reward Merits. Maybe if we made Reward Merits better somehow. What would make people want a lot of Reward Merits?" This isn't some conspiracy theory. People are really paid to think up things like that.

Finally, It's sad that I would really consider this, and that other people would consider it possible as well.
So are you refusing to buy Converters using reward merits?

    Very tempting to perma them!

edit: So I found out that the ATO procs get a reduced proc rate when put in an aoe, making living shadows a bad choice for it. Going to need to rethink my build a bit... How is the ATO proc in shadow field working? Does it have a 100% chance to go off every 10s?
What values will the new Fade enhance up to? How many def/recharge IO slots to perma it at max def?
  21. My build is something like this (below). Goal was to soft-cap S/L/E/N def (45%), with Shadow Meld for itrial capping. And reasonable regen, attacks, etc. I ran it through all the DA content on +3 and it was fine. Shadow Meld is a lifesaver.

The open slots in Heavy Blow and Spinning Strike were each 3-slotted with Purple ATO (for 10% S/L def total) and some other frankenslotting. I will look when I get home to see the final build.

The Ice APP is awesome (Sleet! Ice Storm!) and you honestly should figure out how to leverage it. IMHO.
  23. I see a lot of love for Link Minds of late. But seriously you should look at Ice or Fire APPs .... both are *devastating* on Doms, especially Fire on Fire Doms (Embrace of Fire buff) and Ice on everything else (Sleet!)

Thanks. Yes in MIDS with reasonable perma-dommy recharge I was having trouble getting Smite to recharge under the anim time of MG (2.244sec).

Who knows - maybe the best chain for Dark Assault is something different.
