Official Nickname for Umbral Beast!

So when I finally dinged 32 with Shadow-Fallen I asked my kids and frequent teammates what it should be nicknamed.

Gravity's Singularity: Singy
Fire's Imps: Psycho aggro monkeys
Ice's Jack Frost: Jack
Earth's Animate Stone: Rocky, Poo-Man
Plant's Venus Fly Trap: Twitchy or Audrey

But what should the official nickname of Umbral Beast be?

Some folks are calling it the "Puppy" or "The Dog"

But I think my nine year old NAILED it.

Umbral Beast is officially: Mrs. O'Leary (http://camphalfblood.wikia.com/wiki/Mrs._O'Leary)

It's prefect. If you've read the Percy Jackson books, you'll know that Mrs. O'Leary is a huge, pony sized greek hellhound (black with glowing eyes) that DOES tear bad guys apart, but she's also super friendly and really just wants a chance to play frisbee (with bronze shields), knock her friends down and lick them.

Perfect.

Rocky is also called Stoney, for obvious reasons. Venus Fly Trap, for the sake of accuracy, should be called "Twoey" rather than Audrey. In the "Little Shop of Horrors," (both play and movie), the plant was named the "Audrey II," but Seymore called it "Twoey." My groups usually call the Imps, "minkeys" (from the Pink Panther series).

As for "Mrs. O'Leary," it is a very good concept for a nickname, but the big problem is that it is too long. All of the other nicknames are one or two syllables, and the two syllable ones end in an "ee" sound. The secondary problem is that I'm not sure all that many people will get the reference. You have to have read the books (which I didn't).

Anyone have a nickname for the two Haunt pets? Since they are called "shades," Mental Maden and I were discussing names: She came up with "Ray" and "Ban" at the same time I came up with "Foster" and "Grant."

I'm guessing Lassie and Casper are the ones that are going to stick.

I was going with Ubu....

(you know, "sit Ubu, good dog")

And the Haunts are currently Dan and Bill (for the ghost busters)

The umbral dog is definitely Lassie.

Dark Servant is Fluffy. Animate Stone is Stoney. Jack frost is Jack. Singularity is Singy. Phantasm doesnt have a well-established name. I prefer Phanty, some use Casper. The plant should be Twoey, and Audrey II is acceptable, but some say Audrey. For the fire imps, we just call them Impz, usually in a chanting style. "Impz! Impz! Impz!". I have never heard a name that I felt was firm on Phantom Army. Our group of friends calles em "Boyz" even though there is a female. "I'll drop boyz, then you wait a few seconds and cast VG."

Is there a name for the electric imps? AC and DC maybe?

As for the Haunts, I havent thought about it. I think I may try Bert & Ernie and see how I feel about that.

I don't even play the set and it's obvious that it should be Scooby Boo.

Maybe the names of the agents in Men in Black? They wear shades.

The fix is already on Beta and will come to live next time they patch, which is probably soon.

I think "Lassie" is the most obvious name, especially as my Sand Control/Sand Assault Dominator has everything colored brown, including the dog, which makes it look even more like Lassie.

Yeah, this. Most people I've played with have just been calling it Pup or Puppy.

For me:
Singularity = Singy
Animate Stone = Pooman (cause I really don't like his model. I'd love it if we could use the Granite Armor or one of the DE rock models instead)
Fly Trap = Audrey (honestly I don't think I've ever seen Little Shop of Horrors, someone just called it that, and I like they name anyhow so I use it)
Voltaic Sentinel = Sparky (Even though it's not a real pet)

Dark Servant and Dark Extraction are both "Fluffy." I leave it up to context to specify which I'm referring to.

All the other pets I just call by their (shortened) name; Imps, Gremlins, Phantasm, PA, Jack.

It seems to me that "Lassie" is the most used term right now. Too familiar to be overturned unless by something really really mainstream and memorable.

Personally, I like "Boudreaux" from Grosse Pont Blank.

It's 106 miles to Grandville, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing faceless helmets

So far, my favorite suggestion is "Scooby Boo." "Scooby" fits the two-syllable, ending "ee" trend, and I like the little bit of a joke.
