I run anywhere from -1/x1 through +2/x8 depending on what I'm doing. I mostly play for the stories and I deliberately turn off exp from time to time.
I do not enjoy the "fake difficulty" of just giving enemies more hp and more damage that comes with the level slider. I prefer more complicated enemies with superior powers (think Malta compared to family).
Hitting the same enemy three times instead of two because he's +2 instead of +1 could be considered "more difficult" but it is never "more fun" for me. So I rarely run at the highest settings unless I'm farming. -
Quote:Recharge slow is really not that helpful. even without it, caltrops does great mitigation by making the enemy run away rather than attack. It is really hard to know if the recharge slow is affecting them, because they won't attack anyway, so even if it is working, it's not doing anything that isn't already accomplished.Oh I do love the goodness of the Lockdown +2mag Proc. The Basilisk Recharge Slow Proc I'm undecided on because its a hard thing to measure (or atleast judge). However it was cheap and I slotted it early in my build at the same time I slotted my Turtle Recharge Slow Proc in caltrops. I have a feeling the two proc's together are working nicely but as I said its hard to tell.
And if you think about it, recharge slow in a hold is really counter-productive. If they aren't held the proc doesn't fire. If they are held, they're not using any attacks so they have all the time in the world to recharge for when the hold ends. This may be why you don't notice it.
Tactically, it's not adding anything to your defense. How long does the effect last anyway? Few seconds only right? Less time than it takes to get off caltrops and less time than they spend held?
Lockdown is spectacular in this one. The others are Meh. They don't go off often enough to be great, but they are the only way to get damage out of it, so in a big group it can be worthwhile. I have one damage and lockdown in mine and when I level a bit more will add a second damage.
But I won't be using the recharge slow. -

From what i've seen rares are still down from pre-i18. Pangaean soil used to be reliably 3.2 to 5 million, and I can still buy them for 1 and change after a day or two. They are spiking up, but not staying there.

Quote:2 and 3 are very important. Gremlin and imp AIs are both coded to prefer un-mezzed targets. So they will run away from your locked enemies to cause aggro elsewhere.I recommend three things based on my experience with fire imps.
1) Lock the enemy down so runners only happen rarely.
2) I'll often pull if two spawns are close and I don't feel I can handle aggroing spawn two (although electric control is pretty adept at multi-spawn aggro management).
3) Have a bind to dismiss the Gremlins and don't be afraid to use it. -
Quote:Pure fire is fine, make the sword more transparent and use bigger explosions and more lingering tongues of flame afterward. Smashing shouldn't be an issue. If we momentarily look at real life, axes and most battlefield swords weren't particularly sharp. But if it really matters, again lead more heavily on the explosion and "fire" aspect.Yeah, I think people are forgetting the *really* hard part of such a change: What do you do for sword animations with the fire/smashing attacks or the pure fire attacks?
Personally, I've never played Fire Melee but hoping to eventually play it on a Stalker. And I want Sword animations for all the attacks. But I'm actually starting to lean on making a Fire/Shield Brute instead as I've seen some cool demon concepts on the board (lookin at you Werner).
Fire is basically heat, light, and moving air. Yes wind can cut. Wind can also bash. Whether it is shaped like a sword or not. Especially if it explodes, that's more smashing/bashing than cutting. -
Quote:Fortunate's Hypnosis is not particularly desirable. Neither is the confuse set. What ultra rare isnt desirable?
Every purple except the damage and chance fors (not including sleep/confuse) is 250-500mil each last 5 sold, atm. That makes A-Merits look very tempting to alot of people. Even more when you can pick what you want and not have luck/bad luck drops.
Me, im still killing things for mine. Seems alot faster than tips, and less expensive than WW.
If you have the right build, sure. But high demand? Far from it. Scirroco's Dervish sells for more most of the time. -
Quote:Well, not just playstyle, there are some sets you can only get one way or the other:Thanks, Some great comments there as well as suggestion, i suppose i would pick a Tanker for tanking, but for scrapping i can see i would still have a hard time picking between, scrapper and Brute, al thou they both have there plus sides as well as downsides (mostly AT), but i think it is mostly down to play style
Stone Melee, Axe, Warhammer, Regeneration etc.
that could influence your decision regardless of playstyle. -
Because I'm cheap and I don't email myself inf, I slot accuracy TOs and the occasional recharge. I sell everything else. Starting at 7 I start slotting cheap IOs.
I don't use DOs or SOs because they're more expensive and I really am that cheap. I think I still have a few expired SOs on a few characters that are more than a year old. But all my characters have cheap IOs primarily, then around level 35 I go for my "final" slotting which is typically either all 32-36 Sets, or all level 40 sets depending on the build.
I have one character that I'm testing an all level 50 (or whatever the set caps at) build. But I pretty much have almost no level 50 IOs slotted, I spend too much time exemplared for them to be useful to me. -
Quote:I know it has been working since before the board change, but I don't know anything beyond that or even how the board change aligns with the change to recharge in pets.I am sure I read that they stopped this working for pets < level 50 at the same time as they did the recharge change on pets (I assumed they did it on purpose), which wasn't all that long ago (Or am I just mis-remembering dates?).
I only found out myself that is now worked on lower level pets last night, and don't remember reading anything about it being fixed in the patch notes.
Quote:I have the purple pet proc in my fire imps atm. I found another thread saying that it doesnt actually work in imps, cause they spawn at 49.
However...I just summoned my imps, and got the BU icon...for ME! Yes, thats right..for me. Not for my imps..the power its actually slotted in. Seriously, considering the amount of fire control builds out there, and they still cant make it work properly?
Pathetic -
That's not evidence that increased ability to get purples has raised the price for them. It is evidence that buying things other than purples with your A-Merits is a better idea than buying purples with them. No more, no less.
It has no evidence one way or another regarding:
1. More people playing total right now
2. Fewer people (as a ratio not total) playing 50s right now due to Praetoria
3. More new 50s (due to #s 1 and 2)
All three of those will cause the price of the most desirable objects to increase. -
Quote:Not at all. To make a profit you have to sell for more than your costs. It is only "to make the largest profit possible" that you have to sell above the 50 rate. That said you have to consider this just how long does it take you to get your rolls. How much do you earn/time playing your fifties how much are the level 50 versions of the IOs going for. Now in order to actually make a profit you need to sell your IOs for more than what the level 50 versions are going for + your lost influence from playing below 50 to generate them.
Only a few global IOs sell more below 50 than at 50, therefore by your theory no one shoudl ever sell anything other than a level 50. -
I just used it heavily last night on my level 44 fire/fie scrapper. I was fighting my doppleganger and the combination of enormous fire resists and healing flame means that most of my main attacks were worthless.

Quote:YES! Actually Werner has a spreadsheet for it. I dunno who originally created it but he occasionally puts numbers into it in the scrapper forum to determine survivability numbers for different strategies, builds, etc.I'm wondering if there's a good way to quantify how much the loss in stalker survivability hurts you.
I have no idea how it works though, just that it exists. And I can tell you that wile against most content we are "almost" as survivable as scrappers, against the kind of hits taht AVs put out, we are at a severe disadvantage. It is by no means impossible, just we're much more vulnerable to bad luck and streakbreaker. -

Quote:What I don't get about this question is the higher-level context. Positron is a Tech-based hero and he uses Radiation. Crey Tanks are tech and they run energy, electricity, cold. The origin works with any powerset at all, and is widely used as such already. If they made some natural/tech style power sets like say gadget control using things like those force bands you see certain PPD characters using to hold people or say a gun-fu or gun/sword based assault set would you be excited to play it?
I've heard complaints before that there are not natural/tech options for Dominators and personally did think about it 'cause I didn't really see how they would do one but after seeing that the PDD NPCs actually have a few natural/tech style control powers so it seems like something that might actually come to pass if people really wanted it.
So yea would this be something you would like to see in a future issue or is it just a handful of people who really want these sorts of options for Dominators?
Something like
Tech Control
Web grenades
Force Fields
Tangle Lines
Tazers
Robots
etc.etc.
Pistol Assault
GunFu
Pull out Asp quick for stun attack (drawing quickly like with fire sword)
More GunFu
Some sort of explosive
More GunFu
etc. etc.
I probably would but only if they had a decent unique powers like Plant or Elect control or were pretty solid like Fire Assault.
Also, the "natural" side needs to specify "natural human". My peacebringer already has a natrual powerset that humans can't duplicate without unnatural powers of somekind. So do vampires, werewolves, faeries, etc. Natural does not mean human unless you specifically limit it as such.
That said, some more flavor added would always be nice. I agree with most of the concensus that the options would only be good. And I am also looking forward to the change to make either or both of a dark/ and/or /dark dominator. -
End drain is not so useful unless you have stuff to stack with it. Chance to hold, however, is spectacular. I LOVE that proc. In an unhealthy stalkerish kind of love. It has a restraining order out against me actually. I probably shouldn't even be talking about it in public. Please don't tell my parole officer. =)

Quote:Technically the listing fee is 5%. So if you list for 1,100,000 the fee is 55,000. Let's say it sells for exactly the listing price. At that time the 5% is refunded and you are charged 10% of the final sale price or 110,000. In this case you would get 990,000 off the market to keep. and the market would keep 110,000.When you change your price to 1,100,000, the fee changes to 110,000, so you would get 990,000. The previous poster was correct.
So all of us are wrong. Good point thanks! -
Quote:Honoree becomes 100% resistant to S/L damage. Worse, 100% resistant also means he is immune to -res effects from all sources including Radiation debuffs, the achilees heel proc, etc.Whoa! Outside of the one name Hero that has a demon from the CoT as a mother (sorry can't think of his name atm
), I didn't even know there where other AVs that where immune to damage types
! What are some of these other AVs?
As for secondaries, think one could pull off something like Dark Armor say with NB/BS?
You gotta debuff him first to keep him below 100% -

I'll toss out the Kheldians. They have ranged/melee thing mastered if you're good with forms. A tri-form warshade can go from scrapping it out like a champ in dwarf to blasting for awesome AoE in nova with three fluffy buddies providing support.
I'm totally incompetent and only play humanform khelds, but I've teamed with better players and they are quite cool and do a good mix of range and melee. -
One important point on Domination, it is only your primary set controls. Never any secondary powers, never pools, never temps.
And there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
