What difficulty level do you grind solo at?
+2/x8. Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul mastery Brute. Switched from +1/x4 when I took Darkest Night.
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
BTW, Nalrok I loved the Dark/Dark/Soul Guide. It's helped me a lot with my build.
Mostly +2/x8.
Btw.
If the mish is not outdated there should be no yellow Mobs at +2.
On my 50 Brute (and 50 Tanker & 50 Scrapper) typically +0/+8. Love pushing thru hordes of enemies, but playtime is at odd hours and often limited to an hour or less, so I like having a reasonable time to finish missions.
While my higher level toons tend to be decently 'tricked out' and numbercrunched, I don't try superhard to squeeze every last bit of extra Defense, Regen, or Damage I can into them, so while +2/+8 is doable (and even +4/+8 if I take my time and eat Inspirations like chicklets) those difficulties will guarantee a few trips to the hospital and often an unfinished mission I'll have to redo later.

Depends on the brute, but most of the time +1/x2 or x3, bosses on.
While half my brutes are capable of handling the 'leveling' factions (ie not malta, arachnos, or longbow) at +2/x8 I find it takes too long. I have one exception: an inspiration spamming ss/fire.
Damage output is probably a limiting factor moreso than survivability... that's why the ss/fire gets away with what he does: inspirations make anyone invulnerable, but only go so far towards raising your damage.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
My Claws/Fire has been running tip missions comfortably at +2/4 since his 30's. I've recently upped it to +2/8 when he hit 40 and I reslotted some IOs.
Having 30% Energy/Neg Energy Defense on him makes him plow through Rikti like something large with a plow on the front...
Generally +1 or +0 x8. My brute is DM/SR, so I don't like to up the mob level too much or it just takes him too long to kill them. He has Mu Mastery, with a Posi's Blast proc in ELectrifying Fences, so he puts out decent AoE damage, but if they are orange or tougher I just stand there spamming AoEs and punching stuff for way too long for my taste.

I'm farming with my SS/FA brute lately, so I go +4x8 on my demon farm with zero danger. Otherwise, +2x8. Solo I avoid PITA mobs.
My three different claws brutes generally go +1/x4 from the early 20's, +2/x6 through the 30's and +2/x8 in the 40's. I'll generally try +4 once I hit the mid 40's so I'll have a shot a purples.
Straton Z, ele/ela soul runs +2/8 bosses on
minions and lts fall pretty quickly even at +3 or 4 mainly its the lev 54 bosses taking forever to kill that keep me from going higher though they do add an element of danger that can be fun
I usually tend to not stick with any character that can't handle +0/x3 with minimal problems, so I stick most of mine at +0/x3 as soon as they can handle it (which is usually pretty darn early) and increase it as necessary. By the higher levels, my Brutes range from +0/x3 to +2/x8. For many builds, it depends a lot on what faction I'm fighting. Now that difficulty changes are free, I don't hesitate to turn it up or down as needed.
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
-1 x8 or +0 x8. I try to go for xp/min. If an enemy takes too long to kill, it's less xp. Also, each mission complete gives bonus xp, so the more missions I complete in 30 mins, the more xp I get.
For farms to help level friends, I do +2 x8.
For my SS/WP (which finally dinged 50 last night - woohoo!), the short
answer was ... it depends.
The biggest factor is the mobs he was facing.
For things like Council, Family, Rikti, Freaks and other (primarily) Smashing
and Lethal factions, it was 0/8.
For LB, it was 0/2 above L40 (Instant debuff of regen to zero is Very
Bad). The new Nullifier's grenades turned out to be pure Kryptonite for his build.
For Carnies and Malta, it was 0/2 - 0/4 depending on how adventurous I
was feeling. The pitas there are, of course, Sappers and Illusionists. Carny
end-drain in dying groups (FootStomp IS a beautiful power) was a bit of a
concern in larger groups.
For the couple easy (L48) "farming" missions I selected for purple hunting
in his golden years, I plan to run at +2/8 barring any issues.

I sometime's like to do +2/8 on some enemy groups with my stone/stone, and I actually do it pretty fast (excluding travel time between mobs ).
Usually at +0/x6 for optimized inf/hr, but more than capable of taking on +4/x8 spawns of all but the trickiest enemies (Longbow, Rularuu, etc). SS/Elec/Mu
I run anywhere from -1/x1 through +2/x8 depending on what I'm doing. I mostly play for the stories and I deliberately turn off exp from time to time.
I do not enjoy the "fake difficulty" of just giving enemies more hp and more damage that comes with the level slider. I prefer more complicated enemies with superior powers (think Malta compared to family).
Hitting the same enemy three times instead of two because he's +2 instead of +1 could be considered "more difficult" but it is never "more fun" for me. So I rarely run at the highest settings unless I'm farming.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
I was just curious what others choose for a difficulty level to grind their Brutes up at? I just recently changed mine to +2 at level 44. I was getting bored running solo missions and not really having any difficult moments depending on what types of mobs I was fighting. First time I ran at the new level I had an actual challenge. All mobs were at least yellow, most orange and a few reds. I actually got sent to the hospital after drawing too many mobs and a boss level red. I think I'm going to stay at this level for the rest of my journey to 50. What do the rest of you do? And FYI, I'm talking about my SS/DA/Soul Brute.
