  1. Thank you for the help. I was annoyed when I made the post, so i hope it wasn't over the top. I guess I'll keep going with the arc then when I have time. Thanks again everyone, appreciate it.
  2. I'm very frustrated right now. I spent days doing the tips and finally the alignment to get to vigilante, then ground them again for days to get to villain all because I want the Mu Mastery epics.

So although this was just no fun (don't like red side), I did it because I made the mistake of starting hero side to have people to play with.

Finally I got to villain status, still(!) can't access villain epics. So I talk to buddy, look at the plaques, pick scirroco. I still bloody can't get his epics?! What now, do i have to grind rep on top of all this?

Please tell me what the heck I have to do to simply get the Mu Mastery on my mastermind who I started blue side. If I gotta grind all that rep for scirocco just to get the epics then forget it, that is unacceptable grind.

Heroes get hero epics if they start that side, villains get villain epics if they start that side, so why the brutal punishment for switching sides. Why can't I just pick the villain epics once I am full villain? It takes hours of play for four days minimum to switch sides, and you have to go vigilante in between too!

Please tell me I missed some stuff and it isn't this hard to get villain epics. I could grind a new MM to 40 started as a villain in the time I do the unfun grind to simply choose the Mu Mastery.

    Thanks.
  3. OP, in game, go Options->Help->Nav->Zone Difficulty Levels (or something similar, forget the exact last name).

You get a list, though it isn't as good as having vidiotmaps installed for just glancing at your map.

EDIT: After I19, the trains and ferrys will have the zone levels included in the list.
  4. Meh, all you need is group fly, probably the most annoying power in the game, turn it on and forget it. Your teammates might get a laugh out of pretending they hate your guts, but they're kidding, really!
  5. Plant steamrolls through mobs (my plant/fire at least), where as an Earth is safe but terribly slow and boring solo. On teams, Plant still helps the steamroll, whereas earth shines for making the mobs helpless for teammates to kill. Teammates love an Earth on the team.

Depends, do you want to reliably lockdown huge groups and keep them helpless? Do you want to have less control (still good though), but really good dmg?

Also, my Flytrap is anything but squishie or whatever, he almost never dies unless I'm not doing my job.

    Hahaha. Very good.

Good question OP, I'm just now starting to get into the who soft cap deal after all these years. Love the info presented, keep it up!

My Kin/Elec brute has good resist, but I'm struggling for sets that fit and give me some Def boost.
  7. I start IOing as soon as possible.

I like not worrying about broken red hancers when I ding.

The set bonuses are really welcome all through the 20s-30s

Several, as mentioned, have the same bonus at 50 or 20 like 20% chance for X type dmg, and still contribute to the set bonus count.

    +Recovery, +Regen starting early.

    Lots of reasons really.

I run at +4x8 because it's still fast and safe, as I use demons and have 90% fire resist or close most of the time and lots of recharge, etc. I have run at +2x8 but ended up about 2 million or so short of +4x8 runs. Didn't seem a lot faster either, so I went back to +4x8.

I see this must come often since the topic has its own "Random is random" quip standard reply, hehe.
  9. Well, I know this sounded like the "Has accuracy been nerfed?" threads that come up after every patch, that's why I didn't post until I had gone so long without a decent drop that it just started to feel wrong if you know what I mean. I just kept going figuring bad luck but then on and on its gone until I figured I had to ask.

Guess I'll do a few runs tonight and see if I can catch a break.
  10. Well, I guess I knew nothing could have changed or there would have been an outcry.

I've never seen such luck though. I seriously have been happy to see a lousey orange drop lately my drops have been so bad.

As an aside, I went to my farm mish on test after getting my alpha slot and killed at least a couple hundred minions and Lts lvl 54 and never got a single shard drop, I had to double check they don't only come from TFs.

I guess the RNG just really hates my Brute right now Sure sucks though to feel like you have no chance of a good drop, which is how it's starting to feel, heh.
  11. I have a SS/Fire brute whom i use only to farm a demon mission for money and such to feed my other characters.

Generally, each run would net me a little bit over $10 million Influence, a few crummy drops and the occasional purple drop. At worst, I'd get a purple every five or so runs through, a nice surprise which I then sell.

Since about two weeks or so ago, I haven't gotten a single purple drop, and even rare (orange) drops are a surprise now. All I get are those damn common temp powers and yellow recipies.

I mean, I've run the mission many many times now and the best I get is the odd rare recipie.

I know people will say just bad luck, but not only must I be on an incredibly bad streak, but I don't even get above yellow on multiple runs in a row.

Lvl 50 mish +4x8, like I said, I have been running it a long time now.

    Satisfaction...

This is my most anticipated release since the game came out.

Inherent fitness, TFs, Incarnate..so many goodies. I'm on pins and needles waiting.

Though I dread sitting here for hours planning then completing respecs for so many characters.
  13. Here is my up to date lvl 36 Sonic Rad. Much lower, so you'll use purples? Or lvl 50 IOs at least. Shows the way im building it though. I have 145% recharge most of the time with AM and Hasten, which are close to perma..well in sight at least. He feels powerful in a team for sure, though even with debuffs from Rad and -Res from Sonic my damage feels too low to kill an AV I think. Might just take awhile.

I have been going for recharge, really good End recovery, and some regen. Seems like a good direction to go with Sonic Rad, I have AV killing in mind later too.

    *This is post-respec of course!

    So, what's left?

I'd love a grappling set based upon Zangief(sp?) from the Street Fighter games, though I seem to recall the devs stating (yet again) that the engine couldn't do it, unless I dreamed that, it was years ago.

Grabs, take downs, super pile driver, grab and throw or slam into the ground. All with screen shaking powerful sound effects to project extreme power. I often dream of how awesome it would be to play a brute/tanker muscled to the max and grabbing that boss by the neck and super slamming him into the ground causing the cracking earth animation and he bounces a few times. I picture the set heavy on disorients and stuns.

Or with the rag doll, throwing an enemy into a wall would be so sweet too.

    So, what's left?

There is Ice and Fire and Earth, so Water would be logical.

I'm not going to lie, the climb to 28 wasn't the best, not worse than any other AT really, but slow and squishie compared to tanks you team with.

Mine was designed and leveled specifically to give me a capped farmer, not to enjoy. I just wanted to email 10 million or so to each new toon I started.

Like so many ATs, once they bloom in the late 20's it just gets better and better. Use the AE in conjunction with the difficulty slider and you can level really fast.

My first farm build is now a 50 Fire/kin/stone troller. They farm fine, but they can't really start to farm for real until long after my ss/fire brute was farming in relative safety. You need FS (lvl 38 - one slot at that point), plus you don't get the stone shield until the 40's.

My brute had burn at 28 and FS at 32. Once you have burn at 28, you can start farming the AE demon farm at +1x6 or so and keep upping it as you zip through a few more levels for slots.

In short, my brute was farming around 10 lvls earlier, which makes levelling much faster, and my brute does it far more safely. Both are at 50, but my brute (who IO's himself for +rech etc), is faster, safer, and less micro management involved.

I don't run and grab 3 grps of mobs with my fire/kin, as position and FS and pets etc make it to annoying, and dangerous. With my brute I anger 3 grps, and they just keep feeding themselves into my AoE's as initial targets die. Basically, they still hate you after the agro cap, but "wait their turn" until there is room in your threat list for them.

So tag 3 grps of mobs, then AoE until all three grps have fed themselves into my dmg, go grab 3 more.

As to rage, I use insp, taunt, or run to the next grp whenever its crashed for 10 sec.

Also, yes, if you run the same AE mish repeatedly and complete it, you will see the completion bonus diminish quickly.
  18. I'd recommend you DL Mid's Hero planner. It lets you build, change and plan every little detail as much as you like.

It's also an excellent way to become familiar with sets and set bonuses offered. The IO system can seem overwhelming, but a little reading and Mid's you'll be IO'ing and loving the bonuses.

Or frankenslot for maximum effect of your powers instead. The system really is worth looking into, it extends the life of a character, and adds a new layer to game play.

I disagree, sort of. The AE one is great for PLing until you can get the "real" one from Harvey.

In fact, I was farming the AE Demon mish through my 30's, problem is, no good drops, plus you get diminishing returns for AE tickets after the first completion (you want to complete, as first time you get like 700 tickets bonus).

However, that is an excellent way to very quickly speed the 30's by to get to Harvey's opening lvl requirement. I was getting a level every two runs of that mish.

Harvey's is exactly the same, except you get drops, xp and money, so it helps much for recipes.

Also, I got Harvey's demon farm around 46 or so. Every time I lvl'd, I'd just drop the mish and re-get from him, which made it my level again. (EDIT: there is one quick cave mish to complete first each time you drop and re-get). Eventually, I hit 50, re-got it, and set it at +4x8, since by then my Brute was simply a beast for this farm.

OP, SS/Fire is arguably the best farmer in the game against certain enemies..the demon farm being about the best. Rage, plus mega-AoE, filling 50% of HP every 20 seconds, 100% of End every minute and a half and gobbling insp like candy makes you pretty much in god mode. The first grp is tougher, but soon as the rage builds and the insp start falling like rain, you can clear the map never stopping, not much danger.

As I said, it really isn't much fun, other than when you see that Purple recipe text pop up, but I can feed my "fun" toons easily.

EDIT: The mish you want is listed as 4.1.7.2 on the wiki page I listed.
  20. imvicious2u

    Farming archtype

OP, if all you want is a farm toon to get purps and influence, make a SS/Fire brute, and when you get to 45 or so look up Harvey Maylor in Peregrine Isle. His story arc has a defeat all mish which is nothing but Praetorian demons, the infamous "Demon Farm". All fire dmg, no mezz, no KB etc.

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Harvey_Maylor

Once you have that mish, just farm it all you like. I do it on +4x8 for kicks, but +2x8 is fine, purple drops to sell or use, and I get around 10 million per run solo doing it, a run lasting what? 15 minutes maybe (I don't hurry).

I also farmed Infernal's mish for a bit until I got Harvey's demon farm.

It isn't interesting, or much fun, except when you see the purple drops, that's always cool.

    Gets the job done though.
  21. I too started a WS after reading the MFing WS guide. I've tried a bunch of times to level a WS but it's quite literally the slowest most unpleasant of any AT to level in my experience.

They are weak weak weak until the 22s or so. I just can't stick with one long enough to get to where they don't completely suck. I don't like playing blasters, and being one until 20 or later is lame for me.

I have a 24 WS on one server or another, parked.

I've seen high level ones do some amazing stuff on teams, I'd love to try one after lvl 32 or so, but getting there is anything but fun in my experience.
  22. I love the energy set's look and sound etc. I think there are certainly subpar powers in the set, but it's great overall..solo.

I never make energy blasters for the KB reason as well. Like the OP, it looks to be a pretty darn rare set these days, I rarely ever see energy blasts. When I do ..the KB annoys me, lol.

    That's for true.

I'm 41 on mine and IO'd out till 50 when I replace them with lvl 50s. My Plant/fire is just sick sometimes. I wipe out spawns by myself regularly on teams. Mind you, like all squishies, it's easy to make a mistake and get smacked down, but it's really rare. I'm at 136% recharge right now and next level with slots I can get to 141%, that will give me an extra second for permadom, as right now it's so close I can miss it.

Unfortunately, I wasn't looking at the big picture and forgot I also have at least one 7.5% RCH set bonus. So I am already at 3 for the 7.5 bonus out of five cap.
