Caught a good name, now debating which AT.

I know this is an odd title for the Dominator forum, but rest assured, I'm asking it here for a good reason.

Every once in a while I'll type in a name I suspect will be nowhere near available in-game. And when I do it, the name isn't taken. This time around, I got a diamond in the sand.

Legend Breaker.

Holy crap, right? Well, I made him a Dominator. Plant/Fire, since that seems to be a pretty intense combo according to the forums. Now, I'm a bit of a melee-head. Only one of my 50's (5) isn't a Brute. I'm sitting on the name and a very awesome costume (I threw one together out of random pieces and it turned out to be concentrated awesome).

My big question to you is this:

Should I remain a Plant/Fire and see what this interestingly diverse combination will bring me, or should I go with a dare from the Brute forum and make a Stone/Dark Brute?

My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor

Whenever I hit 50 on my current main I end up dabbling in a lot of alts till one really fits, and that one ends up being my next project. Right now, my favorite of these alts is a Stone/Dark Brute. I don't know what the dare entailed though.

That main that hit 50 was a Mind/Energy dominator, and I've actually kept playing him. It's only been a few weeks and I'm confident I've already spent almost as much time on him than I did with any other 50's. I suspect in a short amount of time he will become my most played 50.

Plant/Fire would likely have yielded similar results for me. That's because they both sport an AoE confuse and an AoE sleep. Actually, Plant's descriptions don't say whether Spore/Seeds notify enemies. Part of what I love about Mind/ is you can disable ambushes without breaking stealth. It makes for an awesome support character on things like speed TFs. /Fire also can form an awesome ranged attack chain and with decent recharge, Embrace is disgustingly awesome.

So, IMO, they are both great powerset combinations worth trying out, at least on paper. Since you've got a history with Brutes, I would try the Dominator.

...However, I think the name fits a Stone/Dark much more appropriately. A shaking screen and enemies quivering in fear sounds more like "Legend Breaking" than almost anything else you can do in the game.

I say you try both projects, but give the name to the Brute.

I want to do that last line especially, but... I have already written a very nice description and I don't have another costume concept (or character slot) to make a separate Dom and give the name to a Brute. Plus, I've seen what Plant/ can do and I envisioned myself walking among a patch of Carrion Creepers as my foes struggle to break out of steel-solid vines around them, setting them all ablaze and laughing...

I digress. I think the name could fit my Dom as well as a Stone/Dark. I want to try Stone/Dark desperately, but this Dom has caught my attention; I'm ripping things to shreds out of the box more than I ever have as a Dom (this coming from the guy who's rolled every Dom combo but Plant/Fire and only wound up liking Earth/Earth).

You won't regret the Plant/Fire Dom.

I just recently got enough recharge for Permadom, and WHOA! I'm 38 and LOVING it!

Once I get the Fire Epics, it's gonna be ridiculous!

That's a great name; you should post a screenshot to the costume thread.

That's for true.

I'm 41 on mine and IO'd out till 50 when I replace them with lvl 50s. My Plant/fire is just sick sometimes. I wipe out spawns by myself regularly on teams. Mind you, like all squishies, it's easy to make a mistake and get smacked down, but it's really rare. I'm at 136% recharge right now and next level with slots I can get to 141%, that will give me an extra second for permadom, as right now it's so close I can miss it.

It's just AoE goodness, many flying orange numbers

Fair enough.

I mean, I'm the one considering rerolling Sgt. Spacewarp (a Grav/Energy Dominator I enjoyed for a bit... then abandoned) as a Grav/Fire. He makes space-time eddies that agitate the molecules of the air until they catch fire...

Okay, it's just a better pairing for a hovering, hard-target-obliterating Dom.

I've tried Grav/Energy so many times it's not funny. I just can't seem to pull it off.
