Quote:Nice one!Doing one of the Terra Volta respecs and convincing the fire tank if you rush them and click, you can disarm the proximity bombs
I will say that not only did I love Frostfire's mission, but my very first hero tip was the malta ambushes where you get Frostfire as an ally. After realizing I wasn't supposed to fight Frostie, and got to be on his team kicking malta @$$ I had a grin so wide it literally hurt after a bit.
The most memorable ever though was my first Lady Grey when I saw the honoree. I got a sick feeling in my stomach and I really hate Hro'Dtoz ever since.
After reading the letters from the time capsule, doing Dean McArthur's first arc is really hard. My villains have no problem with it, but me the player, yech. Also it kinda makes no sense because if he was vulnerable to psionics you'd figure the Rikti would have owned him. =)
Mender Lazarus' taskforce the climactic battle. As was said in another thread by someone better with words, if you can't enjoy yourself while surrounded by hundreds of Nazis and fighting three arch villains at once your dead to the world.
My first trip to the shadow shard. Just Wow. -
Depending on your hours, look into the global channels for different timezones. Like Australia. I know there are others too. That might help rather than just the ones focused on specific servers.

Quote:This is only true for single attribute IOs.Early game.. level 10, 15 and 20 IO outshine Training and Dual Origin.
Later one by level 35 IOs are just a bit lower than an SO when first slotted at 27 but are about equal by 30 to 34
From 40 on on .. IOs are much better than their Single Origin counterparts.
Hope that helps :-D
A +0 SO gives 33.33
A level 21 acc/dam IO gives 33.6% enhancement
A level 18 dam/end/rech gives 34.7%
A+3 SO gives 38.33%
A level 20 dam/end/rech gives 38.4%
A level 24 acc/dam gives 38.4% -

Quote:Also the store inside the Midnighter's Guild and Mender Roebuck in Oroboros.Ghost Falcon requires you to do a misison before he seels to you so the Rikti War Zone is the easiest location to get level 50 SOs (talk to the Vanguard Quatermaster).
I believe for both villains and heroes Oroboros is the easiest store.
But I second the advice on frankenslotting. -
Quote:Some things we know exist in the code right now that make this possible:Bah, let it help BU, AS, and Placate. You're still going to spend the time activating them.
I don't know if it really helps unless you can actually decrease the casting time, though. I say this because you might quickly get to a soft recharge cap where you're rotating the two most damaging attacks you have, and further recharge would be wasted. I could be way off, of course.
I dunno, though, the idea has some serious merit. Maybe a combination of the two? More common crits on the target and +recharge. Swing heavy attacks faster, crit more often. Rolling snowball.
Bruising from tanks
Ability to recharge a power on a "crit" from kinetic melee
+ recharge buffs (many sources)
+ damage buffs (many sources, I'm thinking defiance from blasters)
Streakbreaker (chance to hit against specific target)
So, what if stalkers got either a variant of bruising or defiance, and the chance to crit when not in hide inherent was removed and replaced with a chance to placate (includes granting hidden) or chance to regain hidden?
Only new code would be making the defiance damage buff target specific, but I think they might be able to leverage streakbreaker for that.
Maybe? -
Now, if only they'd do something so you can cap teleport with one IO.

Quote:Here's my recommendation I toss out a lot.The only real concern is money. Building and maintaining 2 lvl 50 builds can be very expensive.
As you level you tend to do the best you can and you end up with a mish-mash of IOs of various levels, generics a few sets and some SOs. When you get above the level where you can slot your end-game IOs (for me that is level 32 or 37 as I always slot level 35s or 40s for exemping reasons) start a second build and put in only your "perfect" IOs. Play using your mishmash build while filling in your second. Once it is 90% complete you can swap over and play it primarily while you respec your mish-mash build into something that will work for your alternate concept.
This way you always have 1 working totally viable build, and you can take as much time as you need to be patient and get cheap deals on the stuff you need for the alternate. -
Quote:I do, and I said so above:Nobody does 5 Decimations (5% rech) and one Devastation Hold Proc? That's my typical slotting - I usually stay Glass Cannon or 'depend upon the kindness of strangers' who Ice Shield me.

Quote:There are two ways I slot things: #1 6-piece thunderstrike because it brings recovery, accuracy and ranged defense. #2 Entropic/Decimation for recharge plus the chance to hold. -
I want it to have a permanent on/off in the options like most other popups. And additionally a way to have it ignore memorized recipes but still warn on held recipes.
-
To the op, there is a guide specifically for these circumstances. Little bit old now, but very good.

Quote:not twisted, just really curious.I'm not sure why you all are getting twisted up over "why" -- people are odd creatures, and do all sorts of odd things for odd reasons (sometimes for no particular reason at all).
@Uberguy, good point, hadn't thought of that one! -
Quote:S'ok. I'm a technical writer and editor by trade, and a very good one. But the typos, grammos, and general crap that sneaks into my forum posts makes me really question the value of my ongoing existence sometimes.*sigh* What Arbegla said. i really, really have to work on explaining things more clearly. Considering how often i end up writing installation/assembly instructions for sculptures when we ship them out you'd think i would do better at this.
I blame it on the brain damage. =) -
I am incapable of hearing or reading that sentence without thinking of the song.
Link is totally safe and legit (unless you're afraid of '80s music or easily get things stuck in your head like me). -
I get the generics, but the ones I don't get are why so many of the recipes that require rare salvage sell for less than 1 or 2 million. Take the Airburst Dam/Rech. It requires a Synthetic Intelligence unit at the high level and Impervium at the mid level. Both of those go for between 1.5m and 3m. The crafted sell pretty reliably below 1m at levels between 37 and 49. Why the hell does anyone bother? Vendor or delete the recipe and other salvage and sell the Impervium or Synthetic and get double the money vastly faster. The level 49 specifically has a "last 5 sold" from 1.0m to 1.5m back 1 month. As I check, Synthetic Intelligence shows 5 listed a 2m each all from today.
So who is crafting these things and posting them at such a loss? No badges for these ones.
And there are plenty of other examples in the sleep and fear sets. some of the travels, etc. There are a huge number of crafted recipes right now that are listed for less than half the value of the salvage, with a reliable history of sales at below salvage cost. -
When I slot ranged attacks I never use devastation for set bonuses. That one is all about chance to hold.
There are two ways I slot things: #1 6-piece thunderstrike because it brings recovery, accuracy and ranged defense. #2 Entropic/Decimation for recharge plus the chance to hold.
If I could get the ranged defense and still have room for the chance to hold I would. If I could slot it in a melee attack I would. -
I will always slot the lowest level I can get on a pure proc because it impacts set bonuses even when it doesn't affect the proc itself. From time to time I pull someone out on a respec, so even if character A doesn't need a level 20 because the rest of what is slotted is level 32, the next character I move it to might want the 20 for a critical set bonus. To me lower will always be better even on a proc.
On one's like the luck of the gambler, as stated there is a defence bonus built in that gives a reason to go higher. On that one I aim in the 30-35 range. -
I have a fire/shield brute and it was fun and reasonably smooth all the way. But then again I don't expect to run at +4/x8 and don't even want to on any character who can.
as it stands I have 38 melee, 42 aoe, and 34 ranged defense including tough and weave and I can run fine against 0/x6 romans with bosses on. Gotta be a little careful but it's not too bad. one small purple and I'm, capped. if they take that away an orange makes a world of difference. don't have aid self, don't need it.
Devouring earth, longbow, and PPD are the only ones that really give me trouble in giant groups. -
-
That's true. I also know some companies have sports teams. I used to work for Microsoft and there is a rugby league in Washington for firms. Bank of America has a good team =). At least they did a few years back. Makes me wonder if there are corporate teams in Paragon.
-
Didn't they have a detective system in testing for a while that could be modified for this purpose?
-
The real question is does Paragon University have sports teams? With all the katana, BS, and Dual blades running around I'm guessing they at least have a wicked fencing team.

Quote:Not really. The difference between no defense on a /Shield and no defense on a /Regen or /Elec or /dark is that the shield has nothing to fall back on. Regen is supposed to work when it has no defense, and for most circumstances it does.Yes, this applies for targeted attacks. But when you come across anything with an Earth Control element, it's game over. :P
When I'm sitting on upwards of 152 hp/sec reasonable s/l resist and have click heals, I can get by without defense for a time. Against some enemies forever. Only spiking big hitters can get through that.
My original /regen scrapper reached level 50 with zero defense and spent most of her time fighting carnies and rularuu because they have crappy lethal resist. Those are two of the tougher groups in the game. Don't need defense to take them. If you want to run at +4/x8 yes you need defense.
But depending on your favorite difficulty setting stripping away set bonuses won't break the character. -
