Right now I see that level 50 LotG 7.5 sells for around 120 million:

    ...and costs 200 merits each.

You could earn 800 merits, buy 4 LotG 7.5s and sell them on the market, making you 480 million, and buy your Kinetic Combats with that. (Note that you earn more by crafting the recipes before selling them, or buying the Lv25 version - this is just a convenient example.)

You save 775 merits - the merit store charges you nearly twice as much as the market does.
Did you just use a direct merit purchase to show that direct merit purchases are a bad investment? Doesn't that only show that the recipes he wants are worth less than Luck of the Gambler, and that in general direct merit purchases (of LotG) ARE actually a really good investment?

It's definitely worth it if you can spare the slots.

With 3 slots, I would only slot regular end mod IOs. The reason is that performance shifter grants 10 endurance at regular intervals, but that 10 endurance doesn't quite translate into 0.2 EPS unless you're consistently below 90 endurance on a 100 endurance build.
Or, as stated above, if you use nukes or otherwise hit recovery debuffs which the proc gleefully ignores, but the third IO is shut down by.

Both true and not true. Yes Nemesis provoked them (run Dark Watcher's arc, especially the final mission for details, and then the Lady Grey Task Force for the full story).

However, the fact that there is no Praetorian Nemesis is irrelevant. Both Rikti world and Praetorian world are alternate Earths. I've often wondered what happened to Rikti Nemesis, for example, and Rikti Hamidon.

5*14.4 = 72% damage, which is over 4 full DOs worth.
Yup crafted, they've been used by 6 of my characters so far, I respec out of them in the 30s put 'em in the bin at my base and the next one picks them up. Do you want the 16 and 17s? or just the one 18 Dam/Rech?

which by hte way, you should have when next you log in =)
  5. I have a number of bruising blow, only 18 is a Damage/Recharge and I don't see a bid on it, so I'll hold till you get one up.

I also have two 15s, a 16, and a 17 (both 15s are also Dam/Recharge, the 16 and 17 are the other two but I forget which is which) all also from Bruising blow. Lemme know of these others are too low for your needs or if you want me to list them. All are on virtue if you want safer trades than the market.

However, a friend of mine somehow managed to solo a blaster from about 25 to 50 in around a week (playing a few hours at a time) using some AE mission he'd found. He said it felt like cheating but he really wanted to get to 50. I have no idea why he thought it was cheating or what type of mission it was.
If he solo'd a blaster it was probably a demon farm with a bajillion Empath, and Kinetic hostage/allies. You get all the exp since they don't attack for damage and they take hits, buff your damage, and heal. I think a few are running the choking cloud aura too. I've seen a few squishies running that AE mission alot since anyone can farm it.

the enemies are normal, so you get full exp rewards but it is almost impossible to lose once you have two or three hostages out.

My level 50 Necro recently teamed up with a level 50 Merc, and all but the tier three seemed to be consistently out-damaged by my *zombies.* The Spec Ops seemed to be glitched and didn't even attack all that much, and the soldiers were always down a man because the first thing the Medic would do is throw a grenade at a boss and then run up and punch him.
The spec ops do actually attack plenty, the problem is their powers. They cycle between their snipe (long recharge and activation), and some of their controls like the flashbangs etc. Actually using their gun to kill the enemy they aren't as fond of.
  8. I know I use AE at low level because tickets drop sooner/more than salvage and recipes. Plus, there are really fun missions.

I have heard that redside several people have created sewer-run equivalents, but have not tried them.
  9. Just throwing out, isn't it easier to softcap if you ditch a few of the purples and put in some sets with Def bonuses instead? Purples are great for recharge, but if I recall, none of them give defenses.

Weird question, wouldn't a single kin defender or controller help out a lot with endurance and recharge? Never tried the fire/rad but especially early on, while the attacks may be autohit for gobs of damage, the endurance and recharge are still issues.

the other question is would a corrupter be the redside equivalent?

Definitely a link of some kind. Bunch of villains showed up to a Lord of Winter fight I entered from Atlas Park last night. I think the Winter Realm is secretly a co-op zone. Either that or a Nemesis Plot.

Any other MMO would not even CONSIDER giving players something like Aim+Build Up+Drain Psyche+Inferno. Or Unstoppable. Or Rise of the Phoenix. Or Shadow Fall or Radiation Infection or Tar Pit or Freezing Rain or Benumb or aaaanything like that. We're allowed to have unbelievably powerful things. It's really a novel idea.
This gets exactly at what Brynstar also said about the Genre being flexible. Comics is one of the few genre's where a hero will take on a large organzation that spans the globe, a street gang with 30 or so members, or one superpowered enemy within the same week. In that vein City is the only game I know where the design allows us to make characters that can stand toe-to-toe with the top enemies solo. Some builds have even managed to solo up to 6 AVs with no inspirations. As far as I'm concerned, that means the designers let US be on that power level. And the stories back it up, such as the climax of Recluse's Project Destiny in all of the Patron Arcs, where we get to be #1. I've never seen anything like that elsewhere and I've looked in a lot of places. Only single-player games do this sort of thing.

And <3 the Devs and all the behind the scenes people, since Posi and Jay were already called out, I'll add that BABs is both hilarious and awesome, Mod8 keeps these forums much cleaner and more pleasant than any other MMO I've seen, the OCR team are fantastic and very receptive. I don't think I've seen such a positive corporate to fanbase relationship anywhere. Kudos to all the people on both sides (corporate and player) for making it work.

Exemplaring shuts off enhancement drops doesn't it? Could have been a bug related to that if the team was at 49, but I can't imagine why they would be at 49 on a raid.

    Thanks!
You can try taking your Elec/Shield into Unai Kemen's Banished Pantheon mission. They are vulnerable to energy damage.
  15. I'm interested but on at totally inconvenient hours. Both red and blue. I rarely log in before 9:00pm PST 1:00am EST.

Anyone who can invite on really late weeknights?
  16. I can play for 15 or 30 minutes and actually accomplish something. Or even several somethings if I'm fast.

I can invite a friend to pickup the game and actually play with them in the first 5 minutes. And I never have to use my max level character to powerlevel them so they can get to the good part of the game sooner, because it is all fun.

The Shadow Shard, especially the cascades.

    FrostFire's custom map.

    Big melee brawls on ice.

Having my stalker confused by a succubus so I can Placate and AS a teammate. =)

Using confuse powers on Sky Raider Force Field Drones. I get way to much of a kick out of that even after a year of doing it.

But the big one for me is actually getting to be heroic if you want to. Most other games have too much corruption and negativity and "the world is doomed just do what you can before it's all over" mentality. Sometimes I just wanna be as cheesily boy scoutish as Superman at his best.

And, well, being a part of anything that gives people like Ian McConville access to the most powerful and flexible character creation tool in MMOs. Ok, maybe that last one isn't always a good thing, but it still makes me laugh.

Not the amount, but the login list is organized with the one you used last on top, then all the rest sorted from lowest current population to highest. But that is current logged in population.

And as far as the high population of Freedom, I think it might help draw people in. With a high activity server like that you're bound to have more people testing PvP. When they find it active, they might stick around or come back for another try. You're doing double duty there, kickign tail and being good PvP recruiters. =)
  18. Does the Cape Radio still to the occasional PvP event? I listen on and off and I know I've heard at least one DJ doing a PvP show.
  19. Is anyone from the group online late at nights? I'm in Hawaii and I tend not to even log in until after 10:00pm Pacific time/1:00am EST.
  20. What zones (both red and blue) are best for PUGs to get in on the Lord of Winter action?
  21. In terms of comparing high-level to low-level IO sets, here was Bill Z's post a while back looking at level 35 sets compared to 50. I realize that there will be a bit more in the specifics, as was mentioned some of the 50 sets give better side benefits like recharge and end use. But overall, the raw numbers are pretty similar.

Those were good answers, folks. I don't exemplar much, so having a build full of level 30something IOs for me would mean having a weak character at 50.

For giggles, I just opened up a build of mine in Mids and set all the enhancements to 35 that could go there.

    Values before change:
    Melee Def: 45.9
    Range Def: 45.2
    AoE Def: 45.2
    HP: 1953
    Regen: 32.4

    Values after change:
    Melee Def: 45.4
    Range Def: 44.8
    AoE Def: 44.8
    HP: 1953
    Regen: 31.9

Wow. That's farking negligible. I done learned somethin new today.

Doesn't really make sense and unless I'm mistaken, doesn't answer the question. So, pretend I earn 398 rep in one day and then log in the next day (I will have lost two so my total is now 396). Do I need 4 more or 2 more to get the badge?

4 more means I need 400 "at one time".

2 more means I need 400 "over the course of my career". Which is it?

    Gangbuster/Oro

The flop is by far the best, with only Marconeville or the docks by Nerva coming close and really the flop is way better. Marconeville is really only a good idea if you want the badge early enough to unlock Slotmachine as a contact.
  24. So the super groups exist, how do we all get in touch with each other to group up?

Edit - Missed it by *that* much.
