Lord of Winter Success Stories
We did that about 20 times today never failed it >.>
How could you possibly fail it?
Had one failure today. But we were only one team and we'd killed the last Winter Guardian when the time ran out.
Had a run a couple minutes later with 3 teams that beat him and cleared the whole zone with nearly 10 minutes to spare.
Villain Side we had a two-team run and just whittled him away like he wasn't even there.
What zones (both red and blue) are best for PUGs to get in on the Lord of Winter action?

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

Cap so far redside, from what I've seen.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

I think Atlas would be the best blue side one - smallish zone makes finding the WL easier, plus plenty of people around, plus snowmen low enough to be one-shotted

I could see it failing due to people ignoring Broadcast. When the Guardian is up, stop attacking Lord Winter, you dumb shmucks!

Trust the computer. The computer knows all.
Just done one of Union, even had a couple of lowbies tagging along to get their badges.
Seemed like everyone knew what to do, the instant Lord Winter went phased every broke off and waited for the Guardian, who proceeded to be smacked down in an orderly fashion before going back pummelling the physical manifestation of Winters chill and fury in the knees until he fell over.
Still had time to nearly clear the zone after his defeat.
Had two merits on my main.
Was in Atlas, joined a team hunting presents and such. WL spawned, defeated, earned two merits.
Off to LW's realm. Surprisingly, a ton of people dropped the team before we left. Recruited a bunch, went in, beat LW. Not enough damage, got the rewards but no badge. Now up to 12 merits.
Hopped to the next instance, re-recruited the team, defeated LW with a few seconds remaining on the clock (awesome) and got the badge to boot.
Kicked back to Atlas, with 20 merits. Hit the CH for a random roll. Miracle, +Recovery.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Its very easy to fail. All you need is to not have enough damage, debuffs, damage protection, and time. And people in the zone who don't know how to stop attacking Lord Winter when he is phased and go for the Guardians. That was my fate the first two times I tried it on Test and the first time I did it live. But then I got with a group of about twenty other players, and by then everybody knew the drill. Our field general ran a tight ship that time and we decimated Lord Winter with 6:30 to spare.
The next time after THAT however, we cut it uncomfortably close. We had the same amount of heroes, but not the buffs and debuffs as the last time. So I busted out a Shivan at the beginning, who went on to repeatedly get knocked on his butt. Didn't die, but he didn't do much. Then we had the people who simply didn't get that you had to pull off of LW and go for the Guardians when LW phases, despite people screaming on broadcast that they had to pull off of LW and go for the Guardians. Managed to whittle him down to 25% with 3:30 to go, and finish the last Guardian quickly with 2:30 to go. Polished off LW with a cool 7 seconds to our name.

I could see how on a smaller group how not having everyone on the same page causing the failure.
Badging in a PvP zone?
If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

Last night on freedom, around 2AM EST, 4 not quite full teams took down the LoW with about 9 minutes, 40 seconds remaining. That was by far the fastest I think he ever went down while I was participating.Good job Freedomites! ( ' :

Not enough debuffs. Not enough damage. Not enough people. People leaving the zone ending up in Mercy with no way to get back in time to help out. I could go on about how the enemies camped the hospital for a while just to make sure that we didn't get back up after they killed us the first time. But sure, with three or more full teams with all the necessary powers I suppose it isn't hard. Try it with one not quite full team.

My success story is that I didn't crack my keyboard in half with frustrated rage when we failed miserably.
To be fair, the only reasons we failed were from lack of debuffs, and poor communication.
So far I'm 8 for 8 with LW battles. Closest call so far was 3:12 remaining when the big lug finally faceplanted. Had some really good teams and good communication between teams all around. Still have not had a second realm spawn though.
It sure seemed like Steel Canyon was the place to be last night though. 3 times in a row I left Atlas after returning from Snowatoa and while heading through Steel a Winter Lord popped. Easy Peasy.
A thread for pics and stories of pwning the new event!
Since I fooled around on Test, I knew what to expect. Once the thing went live, I conspired with my VG to get some teams up for merits. We quickly got to the point where we were leading two full teams and instructing the broadcasters to get a third and fourth team going. And then meeting up with heroes in the middle.
So after about 4 runs, we got this:

We got a triple-raid out of it. We stomped LoW in three zones within the time limit. +24 merits from LoW, and the +2 for the first GM. Thanks a bunch to all the villains and the heroes who showed up, especially the ones that started pounding on LoW in zones 2 and 3 (he was 50% dead in zone 2 and 25% dead in zone 3 when we arrived).
