My computer picked a hell of a time to spit its bits all over the floor...
*drums fingers while the entire thing is reinstalled* -
YES! EXACTLY!
Because...
Quote:The problem with marketing departments is that they promise things someone else has to deliver. Communication with the departments who do have to deliver is optional.
Marketing executives are the ones that sit around and go "[This non-existent piece of tech] would sell really well. Hey programmers and tech people, Make it happen!"
---two months later---
"Why do we have [this now-existent piece of tech]? It's not selling. Hey programmers and tech people, get rid of that!" -
Patch notes for build 0.8493846756383.
Launcher
- The gremlin that popped up when logging in has been vanquished. No more annoying 'You can't do that' over your speakers.
Map Update
- Closed the Map Hole in the Bazaar. Feel free to shop without the fear of dropping into Zul-Magoria. A hell dimension is nice when you're grouped and going after the scepter, but really sucks when you're trying to sell your junk.
Spell Abilities and Combinations
- Datamining has showed that Shepard's Crook melee combination is 20% overpowered. This has been brought back into an acceptable level of damage when compared to a +5 Holy Longsword of Smiting. Fists aren't supposed to do that.
- Canon of Justice Update: Reviewing the numbers has proved that a lot of you are basically whining over the fact that you like the pretty spell ability. Matching effect styles for their peers in other spell trees will be updated and made more flashy. Stop bugging us. You'll get your flashy after the Zombie update next month.
- Meekling Power Update: Some crafters have made us aware of a huge problem with the Meekling Crocheting Thumb Boost. It's not been giving a proper success rate when creating items such as the Cunning Knit Cap of Marksmanship. We've re-tweaked this, and the percentages should match Crosseyed Sewing and Numb Fingers. Let us know.

DOES NOT WORK WITH EXISTING CEDEGA ENGINES
There's a particular tune running through my head right now. It's by Toby Mac. Some of you might have heard of it.
It's ShowStopper.
Here's the big problem. The NCSoft Launcher requires usage of the .NET Framework.
.NET is not supported on either OSX or Linux.
That means that this launcher is knocking out a significant number of your existing players. More than likely, it's knocking out your most effective testers and the players who give you the most detailed and thorough feedback. E.G. the players you really don't want to be torquing off in the first place.
Somebody in Paragon Studios needs to grab NCSoft by the ear and yank them into a back corner, and put the brakes on switching to the NCSoft launcher until the launcher gets redone in QT/Webkit
If NCSoft is bound and determined to force a unified launcher on players, NCSoft NEEDS to use a development API and UI Rendering Engine that is platform independent
DO NOT USE A PROPRIETARY VENDORS API / UI RENDERING ENGINE
Now, yes, I am being a bit blunt on forcing QT/Webkit. Why? Because it's probably going to be the quickest and easiest toolkit / UI Rendering Engine combination to not only get help on, but also turn around and get a viable software solution for testing out on.
If NCSoft had made the transition to QT/Webkit... you know, back in 2010, this wouldn't be an issue today.
If NCSoft wants a unified launcher? Fine.
It needs to be done right, and it needs to be able to integrate with the existing software support structure. It needs to be done in such a way that it will not remove the ability of any of the existing players ability to access and play the game.
Unified Launcher?
Unified Code... DUH! -

This pack has some good things, but like some have said... there are things that were missed. Seems like there's an over-attention paid to felines instead of canines. Lack of cold blooded lizard types is apparent, and the lack of natural claws for the claw powerset seems like a huge oversight to me.
Still though, glad that there's a periodical showing what goes on behind the scenes.

Quote:Mind Control / Kinetics Controller here...I tagged on a bit about Confuse. I checked my toons and have no one to directly test this. If someone does test it, please post here so I can update the guide to remove the disclaimer.
Confusing him and repeatedly hard mezzing him took me about five minutes to drop him.
Kinda stuck on the next one where the Honoree and Holtz are next to each other though. =/

This squishy fishy skipped that one... -

Well, it's been a while since the movie came out now. I know I'm not the only one who rolled a new character, so show everyone your creations!
Here's mine.
Korl: Dual Chakram (swords, but that'd be real cool) / Willpower Brute
Resistance Gloves really work for this look, despite the pipe along the back of it. -
Wow. Seems like you just started.
Hate to see good folks leave. You'll be missed, but good luck in your future endeavors!

The Executives of the Sci-Fi/SyFy Network ALL jumped the shark when they allowed "wrestling" on board, not to mention all the damned modern "Disaster B-Movies" that are supposedly funded by SyFy. All of which have similar, if not identical, formulas: Doom solved by Pseudo Science that a three year old would scoff at.
Hell, even Sanctuary is trying to jump ship... Stopping a Tidal Wave with another Tidal Wave? Someone doesn't know their fluid dynamics. (IE: they pass through one another and make badness for everyone anyway.)
Give Wrestling back to Spike, or wherever it crawled out from, and get things back to a winning combination: Science Fiction on the Science Fiction Channel. (some fantasy is okay, but Science trumps Magic imo)
My ideal Lineups?
New Firefly
Stargate Something
Star Trek Something
Doctor Who
Torchwood -

Wow. These are made of awesome!

Flatfiles...
That. Explains. Everything.

Vista64
GeForce 9300 GE
Was going to upgrade my video drivers, but thought I'd ask if anyone's had problems with the 197.45 version for Vista64.
Anything to worry about?
