What's the PvP community like here?

My home server is Pinnacle, and I have no plans to abandon it. But, I have a few characters that I never play except for PvP and I'm looking for a place to move them to with the free server transfers to clear up some space on Pinnacle. And because Pinnacle PvP is pretty dead these days, some fight clubbing in RV, but that's about it lately. (I'm fine with fight clubbing, but it's not what I want to do all the time)

Before it is suggested, I'm NOT moving to Freedom. I have had nothing but bad experiences on that server every time I have gone there (not even in PvP there, just in general). Nothing against the server, I know there are good people there, but the sheer amount of @sshattery I encountered just turned me off of it.

I know it's kind of odd to be asking about PvP on the unofficial RP server, but it's the second most populous server so I figured the PvP would be more active than Pinnacle at least. Hopefully I can find a home for these toons, because I really don't want to delete them. And hopefully wherever they end up their names are available (I'm not too worried about most of them)

After Issue 13, PvP everywhere is pretty much dead. Our PvP Community have become transients, drifting from AoC, to WAR, to Aion and finally settling down in WoW.

The fractured remains of our PvP Community that stayed, have mostly gathered on Freedom.

Our PvP Zones are now places for farming PvP Rewards, but if you are very very lucky... on the right night, at the right time, when the wind is blowing southerly... sometimes, just sometimes... you may encounter a real PvP'er. Some say its a myth others say its the Ghost of PvP'ers past, come back to haunt the zones they died in. I think its the spirit of vengeance refusing to die.

Here is what I suggest.

I know you don't like Freedom, I don't like Freedom but it is the last haven of our PvP Community (What little there is) and Server Transfers are free right now, so move your PvP characters to Freedom, try and see if the spirit of PvP still exists or if the final death throws of PvP have devolved into "LOLWTFPWNN00B111111!!!!!LRN2PLAY!"

If it has devolved, you at least have your PvP characters safe and sound, not taking up any room on a server you want to roll on, and can bring those characters back over to the server of your choice should PvP ever pull a Lazarus.

There really is no reason to delete them, when you can park them elsewhere for free right now.

Or, you could use the Server Transfers to rename your characters, The Science Park to Reshape them as completely different characters and spec them on their 2nd build for PvE for now.

so since your asking about Virtue and NOT freedom

There are people on this server that still PvP -- obviously no one thats posted here goes into the zones when people are there TO PvP >_> -- Granted the RV is mostly a tug-of-war

Of the people that are willing to PvP I'd like to say that the majority of them are people that PvE a lot and have setup a toon or so for PvP for some fast-fun entertainment. Granted there are some that do everything for PvP -- but most of those have scrambled off. There are SG/VGs that support PvPing and come out and have some fun and such -- PvP is still included in the majority of group events!

So I guess you could say most people have their moments of when they want to PvP -- which means they aren't totally against it!! -- This is good --

The level of people willing to organize seems to be increasing and so is overall participation -- so maybe we will see some interesting things develop in the near future.

Anyone was in RV last Sunday night?

Cause i was... along with about 40 other ppl in zone, maybe more. I know at some point we had 2 full team of 8 running red side, and pretty much the same numbers blue side.

Ive wasted some hours in there, and except for 1 guy who was not happy the pvp'er blasted his NPC kill badge down the toilet, ppl had a nice attitude.

Admit, its not always like that. Last night was fun for me, for about 20min, then ppl started some trash talking, those guys eventualy left zone, then kinda was solo agains 2 or 3 at a time... and no im not that uber to deal with that, lol, more like im barely ok in pvp.

The point is, there is bad and good moment in Virtue RV.
BB is shivan run, + some lost guy, dont see alot of pvp in there when i go anymore.
Havent went in SC in ages
WB for nuke, plus maybe some skirmish once in a while... That is only my perception... i dont really go there for pvp.


As for Arena... Last sunday some ppl in RV ran 2 nice Arena matchs! My issue is only to find those. I normaly just run 1 myself, when i feel like it. Ive more fun on larger match, with lot of ppl then 1v1 or 2v2.

Okay, good to know it's not entirely hopeless then.

I prefer good-natured PvP. Fight hard, use every tactic available to you, but if the fight ends with you as the loser, don't take it personally, or seriously.

It's only a video game, there is no need to act as though the person on the other side physically assaulted you. Trash talk is fine, but when it crosses the line into being truly mean-spirited the person doing it needs to step back and realize that it's only a game.

That, in a nutshell, is what I don't like about Freedom. Granted, not everyone is like that, I understand that very well, but enough of them are that it kills my fun pretty quickly.

From what I've heard in my 4+ years in CoH, Virtue has a pretty friendly playerbase, and that's the kind of environment I'd like to PvP in.

I think there would be a big enough PvP base here to get a PvP channel/Stickied Event thread/Fight Night started, and while I'm not a huge fan of PvP, I wouldn't be adverse to rolling a character for it just to help support the community.
