Yeah. They can't even get THAT right. I mean, when people want to go to northern Nerva, they're usually going either to use Operative Naylor's portal or to Thorn Isle. So why not put the helicopter on the Primeva beach? I expect better placed helicopters in issue 21!

Not sure a casual player like me can pull this off on a regular basis - and I say that after having just beat my 50's head against the wall on the Lambda Sector trial. Am I supposed to pull it off at all? I want to feel the epicness of the new Incarnate content but all I feel is a very painful grind that I never want to attempt again. Don't get me wrong, I'll definitely give it another try this weekend but if this ends up being limited content that *has* to be grinded over multiple hours daily just to get somewhere, I'm probably going to consider the Alpha slot my stopping point for all lvl 50 toons in future.

Sorry for the whine; today's content update made me feel like Jack Emmert was put back in charge of the game - and it ******* terrified me! This is the first time in a long time that I felt a major content feature wasn't accessible to me (Introducing PvP Arenas was the last time and look what happened there). And I was so looking forward to taking my 50 to the next level (sigh). Back to Atlas Park... and a long wait for Issue 21.
This is pretty much how I feel (except that I didn't give a crap about increasing my 50s' powers). As far as I'm concerned, this is Issue 20: New Helicopters in Nerva. I'm sure plenty of people will be along to tell you to l2p, though.
  3. I'd have to make two teams out of my 50s, since they're split between heroes and villains and I don't have enough to make a full team on either side.

Heroside: Ice/axe tank, ill/rad controller, grav/ff controller, ta/a defender, storm/ice defender, peacebringer. Not a bad team, although I suspect the controllers will be doing all the heavy lifting. Rad, TA, and storm on the same team means enemies will be debuffed out the wazoo.

Villainside: Sonic/sonic corruptor, ss/inv brute, claws/nin stalker, elec/sr stalker. That's ... a little more unusual. Not much in the way of debuffs other than sonic's -res and Liquefy, but the team should be able to put out quite a bit of damage.

The Speed power pool consists of a travel power that has little use in combat (other than as a poor man's stealth) and two powers that are generally agreed to be the most useless in the game. Plus Hasten. If you're trying to create a speedster, that's pretty thin beer.
  5. My superspeed character is an elec/SR stalker (for the "so fast you can't see me" effect). Worked fairly well.
  6. Search message varies by character.

When I'm recruiting for a team, or trying to find one, though, I stick to the basics. "Hi, want to join a level <level range> team?" or "Hi, need a <level> <archetype>?"

    - They also pay well. Letting loose your murderous inclinations without judgement AND getting paid for it cam be a very winning deal.

    - There's incredible opportunity in a crisis. Praetoria will have technology this zone doesn't- from gear to drugs to mad science death rays. War trophies are wonderful things.

    - Primal earth will be rolling out similar bleeding edge resources to combat it. Things get lost on the battlefield. Heck, something as simple as money-- LOTS of cash changes hands in wartime and in the haste to get things done, there isn't nearly as much oversight as in peacetime.

    - There's an old myth that you should "let your enemies beat each other up, then take out the weakened victor." This is rather shortsighted, as in many conflicts the victor can come out more seasoned and prepared against you than you'd want. It is much better to side with one against the other, fighting when it gives you the best opportunity and holding back when it is most likely to bloody your ally. That way, you gain access to the spoils AND make sure your short-time ally is weakened as much as possible.

    - Nemesis would find your fixation on just your native dimension rather qaint and provincial.
Just curious. Is any of this actually written into the Incarnate content, or is it just the same old "it's a worldwide threat, you have to cooperate" stuff the devs have been using since the RWZ revamp? Because they've gone to that particular well (ha ha) WAY too many times.
  8. I don't play my 50s. I'm ignoring the whole Incarnate thing because a) the story behind it sounds dumb, b) I don't feel a need to dust off my 50s just to power them up further, and c) I almost never do TFs and trials, and that's all there is for Incarnates.

So, yeah, journey. I'll just keep hopping around my alts and working them up and maybe hoping that sometime, in the distant future, we'll get new story arcs from the devs...

(Power-wise, I generally feel like most characters are "done" sometime in the 30s, and everything after that is just extra.)
  9. I remember gaudy days
    When the year was springing,
    Tammuz, Gilgamesh, and I
    Clinking cups and singing,
    Until Innini sauntered by,
    Skimpy garments clinging
    To her hips and things like that;
    Tammuz left us, winging.
  10. Crimson Quill, a TA/A defender who ended up becoming my first 50 as well.

And my first "whoa, cool" moment came when I looked down into Grendel's Gulch in the Hollows.
  11. Well, sonic in general seems rare. I have a sonic/mental blaster and a FF/sonic defender (as well as a sonic/sonic corruptor, but that's not so odd).
  12. A while back, I ran the tip mission where you have to find three magic words to control a group of Banished Pantheon totems to open a coffin for you. When you pronounce the words together, they come out as "Mekka lekka hi, mekka hiney ho."

I also suspect that the newspaper mission where you have to defeat Officer Waynewright of the Sky Raiders is a reference to R. Dorothy Wayneright from The Big O.
  13. It's especially noticeable with the taller buildings in Praetoria. Last night, after talking with Praetor Sinclair, I superleaped down to the ground -- and found myself knocked down to 1 hp. Fortunately, there were no enemies near where I landed....
  14. I've been here for five years and have racked up nine 50s (with no recourse to farming and/or PLing). So ... at least a few months.
  15. I was annoyed by the use of Malta as well. It felt like they were shoehorned in just to have the moment at the end when the Zeus Titan shows up.

What bugs me is that, in the 20-30 range, you're not going to be seeing any more Malta for a while (barring sidekicking up and such, of course). So the arc presents you with a supersecret organization dedicated to undermining the government and hunting supers ... and you can't do anything further about it for another 10 or 20 levels.

Why not use Crey? They've got a very similar schtick -- infiltration, manipulation, super-tech -- and a character in his or her 20s will be getting Crey arcs and missions relatively soon.

How would YOU rewrite the following descriptive text to make it 'acceptable'? There is no right or wrong answer here, FYI.

"You cautiously enter the warehouse by an alleyside door, away from potential prying eyes. The acrid scent of Superadine taints the air, marking this warehouse as being the right one."

"Pushing open the rusted gate, you enter the cemetery and glance around. The sound of the wind in the trees almost seems like whispering voices, but you are unable to make out the words."

"A cry echoes from an office floor above you, before it's abruptly choked off. Somewhere in here is a child that needs your help... you square your shoulders and stalk toward the stairs, intent on bringing the kidnappers to justice."

    Go.
Selection 1: Strike "cautiously." Implies too much about the character's mental state (and besides, "away from potential prying eyes" already suggests caution without sticking the adverb in there).

Selection 2: Seems fine to me, although I realize that a character with Daredevil/Superman-level super hearing might object.

Selection 3: Strike everything after "needs your help." Again, ascribes motivation to the character that may or may not be there.
  17. MA/Shield scrapper @ level 21: Used about 6-7 inspirations (couple of purples, a yellow, a red, and a green or two during the fight) but owned her. I was actually thinking, "Gee, feels like that should have been harder" afterward.

And no, I was running on just plain DOs, and I don't consider myself a particularly leet player.

I also took her on with my main dominator, but that was with a team. She was defeated without too much fuss as well.
  18. I've been running 35-40 characters villainside lately, and content-wise that range has been a desert for years. Johnny Sonata, Magus Mu'Drakhan, and Technician Naylor have fine arcs, but you can only do them so many times. Kelly Uqua and Jezebel Jones just give a handful of missions each. Arbiter Leery requires you to have done a respec trial first. Hardcase ... well, is Hardcase. And Basse Croupier just leaves me wondering why my level 35+ villain is still working as a casino legbreaker.

Plus no one ever seems interested in doing Ice Mistral, even though you need her badge for Megalomaniac, and while villains can go to the RWZ, I'm not fond of the missions there from the villain side. I'd say if any area of the villain experience is overdue for some freshening up, it's this.

But that's not the "real" Clockwork King -- it's his alternate-universe psychic counterpart. If you ever want to shut down the Primal Earth Clockwork King, you have to do Synapse or the LGTF.

It does annoy me a bit that, in order to participate in the much-ballyhooed Praetorian invasion, I have to do a TF (which I almost never do). To compare, the Rikti invasion offers plenty of things to do besides the LGTF, and you can start playing a part right away, even at level 1, by fighting in the zone attacks.
  20. The rewards aren't that vital to me (as long as I'm getting SOME XP for my time, I'm happy). The problem is, every time I go into AE, I find myself flipping through page after page, looking desperately for something that's a) not a farm, b) is not a "you team up with my character" arc, c) is not loaded with spelling and grammatical errors, d) is not full of stupidly overpowered adversaries, and e) looks interesting and appropriate for the character I'm using -- both in terms of difficulty and in a RP sense. Needless to say, I tend to not find a lot. After wasting enough time doing this, I end up saying the hell with it and go do a newspaper mission or something.
  21. Hate is a strong word, but I just can't bring myself to play my warshade much anymore. Too fiddly, too frustrating.
  22. For me, it's up there with Flashback as "stuff other people really wanted but I don't care about." My 50s are retired and will almost certainly stay that way, especially since I almost never run TFs anyway.

As long as we continue to get new story arcs for lower levels, though, I'm fine.
  23. I have Shield Defense/MA and shield/SS characters. I would love to be able to use the "shield bash" move you get when you use Brawl holding a shield with some of the MA or SS attacks.

NP. Yeah, you can choose contacts for storyline and RP purposes, but the actual "contacts" and "doors" for missions will always be in the Architect Entertainment buildings.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Really? Bleh. I didn't expect to be able to pick specific mission doors, but even being able to specify "random mission door in Skyway City" or wherever would be better than City of Standing Around In a Basement Clicking on a Terminal.
