I have a name I tried to get on one account but it kept telling me it was taken. I logged into my other account and was able to grab it. Like you I've tried to delete the toon several times but I can't grab it on my main account.

You'll be happy to know that I was just able to log in. As for the work they were doing, you can't please everyone. If they don't work on the servers and there is a ton of lag, people will complain. Fix the servers trying to take care of the lag and people complain because they can't play when they want to.
Just get over it. -
This is going to sound crazy, but turn on ninja/beast run when you are doing it. My new lvl1 got all 3 metals on the downhill run and the silver and bronze on the bobsled run with just that. It took a few tries to get the turns just right, but it can be done.

I'm sorry to hear that things didn't go well for you, but it sounds like they are looking into this. Please remember that it is a holiday weekend (weekends are normally bad as it is.) Also, sending in several petitions does not get a faster response. It just fills the queue and slows everything down because the GMs have to look at every one of the petitions even though a GM is already working on it. This may not seem like much, but say the 5 teams before you all sent in 5 petitions, they would have to deal with 25 petitions before they could even get to yours. That is a lot of wasted time when they really only had 5 problems.
We as players can help the speed of the GMs by not swamping them with unnecessary petitions.
One last thing, a bug report will not get you a fast response from the GMs. It's viewed as a "Hey, I found this bug. You should look at it when you have time" kind of thing. Bug reports do help track down problems because it can show a pattern in what causes it. -
I feel your pain. A name I want is held by an account that has been inactive since before they added global names waaaaaay back in the CoV launch.

I plan on grabbing the names of my most played toons when the VIP server goes live just in case things go bad on Virtue. If the F2P people are not as bad as the ones I've seen in other games, I don't think I'll have any reason to move from here.

Quote:It is limited for the same reason that Trial accounts are limited, RMT spammers. It seems like a long time ago, but there was a time that you couldn't do anything without getting a dozen tells (or in-game emails) from a RMT spammer before you could block them. Opening up the F2P accounts to sending tells will just cause the spam to hit again. This isn't locked out because they want to be mean or to force F2P players to upgrade. It's done so the paying players are not chased away from the game because of spam.Personally I feel limiting the ftp people out of something as basic as private Tells is a mistake. They are a very basic and fundimental part of every mmo out there, and it seems far too resrictive to cut that part out of their experience. Ideally I am sure NCSoft would love any new ftp person to eventually upgrade to a subscription model and being a part of the ingame community would go a long way towards getting them to want to stick around and be fully part of the game.

You can go back and play most of them though the Flashback system in Ouroboros

I no longer use the disks that came with the game when I reload it. I download it because I found it requires less patching. Log into your master account, select the game account and chose Download PC Client from the Actions box.

The main problem with this is that there are just not very many PvPers in the game anymore. Open PvP is an idea that comes up all the time and it gets shot down over and over again. Adding more PvP zones will just spread out the PvPers and do nothing to get more people to try it. 90% of the player base (no one knows for sure but most figure the PvP population is under 10%) doesn't want to PvP. The entire PvP system was redone to try and get more people in the PvP zones. It didn't work. All that happened was we lost more of the PvP population because the new system was broken in different ways.
At this point in the games life, it's just not worth the cost to try and rebuild PvP again. -
This may have worked way back when PvP was added to the game, but not now. The PvP population is too small. From a business standpoint it doesn't make any sense. Would you add yet another server? Change one that is already populated and force all the people off to find a new home? For the small gain in QoL for PvPers, you would upset a much larger crowd. And that is before the slowing of the development time like Bill said.

Quote:A friend of mine has this happening to him. So far I have escaped it on both of the computers I use.Has anyone else been told, on loading the NC Launcher, that it needs to delete a virtual folder in City of Heroes (US) and City of Heroes? It's been doing that since the last launcher patch, and before this patch. It doesn't stop me running anything, it's just...weird.

Quote:They keep it because not everyone has the VIP card to enter the Tiki club. Someone with TP friend could port people in that shouldn't be able to enter.I'd prefer all powers be allowed in Pocket D. The only reason that Teleport powers were originally supressed is due to people using it to teleport people into the dancer's cages and getting them stuck there. If I'm not mistaken, they opened the cages up anyway (I recall seeing people getting in themselves recently). So the original reason is gone.

Funny that you should say something like this today. I was just over working on my dads computer and found that it didn't have SP3 installed. The automatic updates never downloaded it to his computer (I built his computer, so I know they were turned on.) I spent the rest of the day downloading all the updates that should have already been installed.

Some say that I'm a marketer. I have made over 4billion from the market with very little work. The funny thing is that I list most things at 10 inf (crafted IOs are listed at cost.) It's not my fault someone put a 100k bid in for common salvage. If you really want to buy from the market, ignore the last five sold and don't expect to buy everything you want now. It's a supply and demand market. Prices are always moving around. All I do is make my bids just before I log out for the day. So I can't make that set now. So what? You can get by just fine with SOs. We did it for years before IOs came around.

That does sound like a bug that he wont send you to Doc Delilah. I didn't have any trouble getting her as a contact a few weeks ago on my just out of Prea lvl22.

Quote:I think it has to do with the buff themed around tarot cards. I know people that think anything to do with tarot is evil and will avoid it at all costs. I don't have to agree with them to respect their beliefs.o.0 i cannot imagine any religion where this would be more objectionable than... well... most of the rest of the game's setting. It's not even telling a fortune, it's just a random buff with a game-themed graphic. Seriously, if they can play the game at all while finding that objectionable on religious grounds... *shakes head over the endless human capacity for selective perception and compartmentalization*

I decided to add my time here to show how slow it can be for some people. I just timed it and it took 1 minute and 29 seconds from when I clicked on the launcher till the time the log in screen loaded. The Quit to Character Select has made things nice for me.
I can't wait till I finish building my new computer. -
I wish I had your load speed. My computer can't do that (it is a bit on the old side.) It is much faster for me to use the Quit to Character Select.

For whatever reason NCSoft feels it should be there. It has been there from the day this game launched. If they felt that it needed to be removed, it wouldn't be there. It's their game. They can do what they want with it. If having to move your mouse rather than just being able to click past it is such a big deal, then don't do it. As for me, I've already gotten used to the change and don't even think about it when I log in.
-
The agreement has always been there. Give it a month and you'll get used to the change and forget its there again.

This happened to me. I found that I was having a problem with an old version of the launcher causing trouble with the new version. I had uninstalled the old one months ago, but parts of it were still on my system. I uninstalled the new version, searched my system and removed the remaining parts of the old one and downloaded a new copy of the launcher. I installed it without any more trouble.
-
I just uninstalled the launcher and then made sure there were no parts of it left in my system. Once I did that i was able to reinstall the new launcher and it worked fine for me. I never touched CoH to get it working.
