As long as you are not a corruptor, defender, scrapper, or stalker, the answer is unequivocally Leviathan Mastery. Vomiting on your enemies is pure win.

Don't feel obligated to take an APP "just cuz". Yes, they can add functionality or round out your capabilities, but they are by no means required for end-game performance. My WP/SS didn't take one. She's a mutant with superhuman resilience and strength. Why would she one day start shooting fireballs and summoning shadowy power from the void?
-
I took it on my elec/elec, but it often goes unused. I'm tempted to spec it out, but it can be handy when facing sleep resistant foes. Them bouncing on their bums gives your sapping time to take hold. I imagine I'll have enough power picks with I19 that it will continue to be a present but somewhat un-used power for me. I still break it out from time to time just for fun-factor.

Quote:This is my sad face. Also you can't customize pool powers (including epic/patron pools)
I just started a plant/nrg dominator and I'm loving her so far, but long term was looking to add Primal Forces Mastery to shore up the lack of melee and AoE that dominator energy has. I colored her secondary to evoke a sunshine theme, and I'm very happy with the way it turned out. If I won't be able to color PFM, I may have to rethink things. Has there ever been any mention of making pool powers customizable? -
I just read in a stalker thread that blinding powder doesn't break stealth or cause aggro. Next time I feel like playing my nin/nin this will change things a lot (never took it).
-
Mine's only 28 or so, but I love it. Storm's controls and de-buffs actually let ninjas stay alive. I rerolled from ninja/pain because it was always a falling behind game of whack-a-mole keeping them healed.
-
Amusingly I had the same thought as the OP in a different thread earlier. I think it is a good idea myself. It allows customization, and comes at a price. I'd like to see it as a special IO, not a general enhancement type or part of a set. I'd even accept it as a new seasonal reward.
"Pull Your Punch"
This enhancement reduces they knockback value of a power by 90%. Only one can be slotted in any power.
I see no downside to this. You give up an enhancement slot to do nothing other than reduce knockback, and it is totally optional. -
Quote:I've always thought this was a bit counter-intuitive and backwards myself. But the Fear debuff is a bit borked, because it spawns on the Target and not the caster. So if the target dies, no debuff.
It doesn't really make much sense
Scenario 1: You AS Fritz. He lives. His buddy George sees this go down.
George: "Oh my god, you severely wounded Fritz!" *cowers in fear*
Scenario 2: You AS Fritz. He dies.
George: "Oh my god, you killed Fritz! You dirty *******!" *blam blam blam blam blam* -
I'd put up with the KB if it did damage like BABs' version. Though I agree it would be great if they'd just change it to KD.
Another option I'd love to see is a special IO implemented. "Pull Your Punch", -90% to knockback. I'd so slot that on a number of powers. I'm looking at you (Dominator) Thunder Strike.
Edit: Figured I ought to specify which Thunder Strike I meant considering the board I'm on. -
I tried this a couple of nights ago on my zombie. I came out of the trading house and they bugged. I didn't notice right away and started a fight on the street. Used the veteran recall teammates, and that worked, but they showed up and just stood there doing nothing. No combination of commands made them budge.

I'll have to second avoiding ninja/pain. I shelved mine after recently returning from a longish break and running a few missions. I can't for the life of me figure out how I made it to 34 without flipping out and killing people (irl). Ninjas are the squishiest pets available, and you're constantly struggling to keep them healed; when they aren't being outright one-shotted.
I re-rolled her into ninja/storm and life is so much better.
I can't comment on /traps, I've never found a thematic concept that kept me interested for more than 10 or so levels. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with enemies being mezzed, but rather enemies not landing any successful attacks for a period of time. I see this all the time on my ninja/storm. They're either bouncing on their butts, or whiffing due to hurricane debuff. This is WAI. Pets on defensive are made to ignore mezzed enemies and take out the ones that can still attack you instead. Make a bind to change them to aggro mode when this happens. When my bruiser got Handclap, he used to stun groups and then forget about them.

Cheated? Really?
First off, many love the look (as do I).
Secondly, the set has been available for what, months now to pre-orders? You didn't think to once get on the internet and look up screenshots or videos? -
Demon/storm should be very effective. Of course, anything /storm is effective if you know how to use it well.
Just thought I'd throw in a second shout-out for /pain. My 29 demon/pain has been a smooth and enjoyable ride so far. Even before slotting the uniques I felt pretty effective. I still have one of the defense uniques to pick up, world of pain to perm, and the 32 upgrade for the ember demon's aoe heal to look forward to. Not to mention the Hell on Earth + Painbringer combo. -
I'm not speaking from experience mind you, but I'd imagine the best thing to do is wait until your current application is about to fall off then use it so that you don't lose stacks. This also gives Concentrated Strike time to recharge and once again have a chance to reset the cooldown.
-
I'd really love to see them add a third behavior variable for pets, call it Combat Preference. Options would be close to melee, stay at range, and use all attacks.

Quote:Perhaps for you and your gameplay style, certainly not for everybody. The story arc is a thematic issue -- and theme must almost always yield to gameplay considerations.
Switching sides is neither hard nor time-consuming, even with the limits they've imposed (such as they are). I recently took a Praetorian mastermind blueside, and when she's high enough level I will be briefly swapping to red for access to scorpion shield and that alone. Once done I will likely go right back to blue-side with a smile on my face. -
I'm guessing it's just a quirk of Mid's, but I haven't used it since coming back recently. My guess is it is due to the fact that the sleep is actually cast by a pseudo-pet. I'm pretty sure I've read posts from people slotting it with sleep and having it work.
-
Supposedly there is a bug causing ranged MM pets to close to melee. I haven't run into it myself, because I gravitate towards the melee pets anyhow.
-
This just in: some players are bad. Film at 11.
-
On the other hand, I find something very satisfying about having the zombies puke on a nice tight pack of enemies. Necro/ may not have a lot of AoE, but what there is is puketastic!
-
Would the chance to heal proc work in static field, or would it merely attempt to heal the pseudo-pet?
-
I cannot speak to /traps, as I've never gotten one past level 10 or so. Mainly because I've never come up with a concept that did anything for me that included traps. It is widely held as one of the strongest secondaries.
I can speak somewhat to /storm. I got my ninja/storm to 28 over the weekend, and I'm having a blast. One of the defining abilities is hurricane, and good performance means you need to learn to use it wisely and with skill. For most mobs I turn on hurricane, run in and touch the mob carefully, sometimes strafing to keep them from scattering too much (depending on level layout), and at the same time dropping freezing rain where I intend them to end up. Once you have debuffed everything with hurricane, turn it off, it is an end hog. If I pull this off properly, all that is left is mop-up. These two powers alone are so effective at keeping them whiffing and bouncing on their arses, that it is not uncommon for my pets to stop attacking half way through a fight, because I keep them on defensive and the enemy hasn't landed an attack in a while.
The future only gets brighter from here - I haven't even started putting thunderclap to good use (just got it, it has bad accuracy and is only effective for me after freezing rain, and by then the fight is all but over). I don't have either defense bonus unique slotted yet, and only one of the resists. I haven't slotted mist for defense, I don't have maneuvers yet. Once I rectify these things, the true beat-downs begin. -
