    Blaster weapons?

Though... I wouldn't mind seeing "Katana Manipulation"! Haha.

So while the Blaster may produce more damage this is countered by a much weaker output by the partner Emp. The speed thru mobs by either duo is also heavily influenced by the pace the slowest member of the duo is capable of maintaining. Post level 33 the Emp+Emp duo is essentially running full out non-stop on SO's, a pace the Blaster+Emp duo might hope to match with difficulty and will almost certainly require more than SO's to do so.
Oh, I definitely agree in the situation of leveling them both up. What I'm talking about, however, is that I already have a level 40 Empathy/Sonic Defender and she'll just be rolling a new toon (prolly PL it to 22, anyway.).
  4. If Toxic Munitions offer -Res as some speculators seem to think it might, I think I'll be deleting my Emp/Sonic Defender and starting a pair of Emp/DP Defenders with a friend as Loyalist members of the Psychic Friends Network and play as psychically linked twins that cause massive devastation and destruction.

I'd also be very tempted to make a DP/Kin or FF/DP.
  5. Yeah, I am well aware of the advantages of having another Empath, since I went from 1-38 with another Emp/Sonic.

As far as not having Perma-AB without AB on me, I plan on having high enough Recharge that that will not be a problem. Still may tell her to roll and Emp but we'll see.

We played as a Sonic/MM and my Emp/Sonic and I wasn't impressed with her survivability compared to the dual Empaths. To be fair, she's only 15 and unslotted right now and hasn't dipped into Fighting/Leadership and I've only got a few sets slotted right now so I'm still a little off of Perma AB (It's usually fine if I stagger AB and the Auras). I'm thinking it'll be better once she gets Tough/Weave and the +3 Def IO. I did notice that her damage is pretty damn good, even unslotted and can only imagine it getting better.
  6. If we must be known as monsters so that our children, children's children and children's children's children may be safe, then so be it. I would rather suffer the slings and arrows of harsh criticism in my fight to extinguish the Resistance than know that my progeny, or the progeny of my brothers and sisters in arms, may grow up impoverished in some gutter, with no clean water and no dignity. If that makes me evil, than I shall wear the title proudly.

    Praetoria Prevails.
  7. I think that the Vigilance suggestion that has gone around for a while would be perfect.

    1) Change Vigilance so that your health affects the bonus.
    2) Make it a scale where full team health gives you a +Damage Bonus.
    3) Make lower team health have the +Damage slowly disappear while you recieve either
    a. An Endurance discount or...
    b. A secondary effect bonus (IE buff and debuff numbers).

    This would serve mulitple purposes.
    1) Defenders would become better soloers.
    2) Those new to Defenders would understand their role a bit more. (IE Defend the team at all costs, once the team is doing well, blast your heart out.)
    3) It would make defenders more desirable late game when teams are generally tougher and Controllers pull ahead in the damage department.

So, for discussion sake, if there was a theoretical country that was ruled by a dictator with an iron fist, but the citizens weren't persecuted, no one was hungry and they could engage in art and research and such without retribution. The only catch was they could not seek to govern themselves, that such a system would be inherently evil?

Personally, I'd go Sonic/Mental blaster. Drain Psyche stacks with the RAs nicely, and it has slightly more ranged AoE ability so you don't have to get right up in their face unless you want to. 2 Howls and Psychic Scream will do a number on tightly packed mobs.
I just figured that with AB, she'd be at the Regen/Recovery Cap anyway, but the -regen in it is something that might help us further decimate large targets.
  10. I built an Empathy/Sonic as part of a two Empath duo that fizzled out around level 40. I'm finding I'm having a great time playing the toon just as part of a team and am planning on IOing him out pretty heavily. My friend wants to create a toon to play with me and I've been having trouble deciding between two.

    1) Another Empathy/Sonic Defender. The advantages to this one are pretty obvious.

    2) A Sonic/Fire Blaster. My Empath will have enough recharge to keep Adrenalin Boost perma on the Blaster and with dual Leadership and the Blaster running the Fighting Pool, she'll likely be very survivable.

So, what do you think? Main activities will be... well, anything. Duo'ing TFs, some farming, etc etc.
  11. This here is an Empathy/Sonic Defender build I'm planning on running with. I realize it is currently uber expensive, and that's fine. It gives me something to build towards. The toon should be able to solo decently well but will excel in Duos and Small teams. I also like the build's ability to exemp well without losing bonuses.

If there are any other ways I might be able to tweak even more performance, please let me know. I do realize I can slot another 3% defense but I don't think it's worth the 2 billion influence in the case of this build.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. What about Fire/TA? I guess it might be a little mitigation-light, especially early.

Remember, there is an issue, anytime you're using a proc, that it won't proc during a domination cycle and you'll end up crashing, endurance-wise.

I'm hardly a min-maxer but the idea of having to mash a power every time its available just to stay in the fight is irksome. What're your specific experiences with a Staminaless ElA? Are you hitting Power Sink as often as possible just to keep running?
Keep in mind that Power Sink is also an important part of your mitigation by sapping the endurance of your enemies.

    Yes.

I suggest using your first build as a leveling/exemp build and taking Stamina - but yes, skipping Fitness is doable once you get Power Sink. I decided to be a man and just skip Fitness while leveling too, and with frankenslotting the whole way to 35 and teaming with an Empath occasionally it was doable, but definitely painful.

I think /Elec is the best candidate for skipping Stamina because you also get a move-speed increase with Lightning Reflexes.

Did you /bug this? Bosses should only spawn if there is another person on your team. Otherwise, it will just downgrade the bosses (Death Mages, etc) to Lieutenants.
  17. Right now there's a paticular niche I'm exploiting that costs around 15 to 16 million to buy the recipe, crafting materials and pay for market fees and it pays me about 45 million, netting me a cool 30 million profit per. My only issue is wondering how long it takes for people to catch on that they can get the recipe so much cheaper. It moves at a decent pace of about one crafted enhancement per night. Should I take the risk of removing the remaining recipe stock from the market? It's a rare Pool A, so replenishment is a possible pitfall.

Though, with 1 sold = 4 purchased, I could keep recipe supply exhausted with little effort, since it seems there isn't a lot coming on to the market. On the other hand, I'm sitting on about 8 right now.

I'm a market novice, so I appreciate the advice.

I think this pretty much hits the nail on the head. For my builds, having a set of Gaussian's, BotZs, Basilisk's Gaze or even Crushing Impacts are far more important than having purples in the build. Purples basically come when I have played the 50 a ton and have the opportunity to replace the Crushing Impacts for the miniscule amount of additional recharge they offer. I put them in not because I need to, but because I can.

Yes, I know what you really meant, but corners aren't always as convenient as you would like and an AoE Sleep won't eliminate an alpha.
I haven't found a lot of maps in which I have trouble throwing down an Ice Slick from outside of LoS.

You don't need all those to get what you want and without them this is less than a 500M build. No purples, obviously.

You can easily interpret either statement as "weak." Or "weak most of the time with occasional moments of cool."

I agree. And the major problem with people saying that you "Actually have to use tactics" with the HEATs is that it isn't essentially untrue with the normal ATs. For example, while a SS/WP Brute can pretty mindlessly mow down 0/x8, when teaming on my SS/SD I employ certain strategies like running ahead when we're mopping up the last few mobs of a group, I speed to the next group and eliminate most of the minions and lieutenants while the group mops up and catches up.

In fact, with the whole tactics and stategy, I seem to get a better return on investment with other ATs by adding tactics than with HEATs.
