Looking for a cheap SD/SS Build
Just out of curiousity, Why is your brutes build going to be 10 bil? thats kinda high. unless your going for pvp io's but still i dont see how it adds up to 10 bil.
I'm working on a SD/SS myself. He's currently 38, and I'm hoping to push him to 50 over the weekend. I've got AS/Fly, and I never take Hasten, but I am taking Body Mastery. My build is NOT exactly what you're looking for, but has similarities, and it's fairly cheap - I'm expecting it to be around 80 million for a solid build, and then I'll be putting together an insane build, much like what you hinted at for your brute.
I'll post my build when I get home.
It includes:
45-47% defense to Melee/Ranged/AoE
At least 20% global recharge
Four single target attacks enhanced to 95% damage, with 60+% Accuracy, Recharge and End Reduction before global bonuses.
Shield Charge and Foot Stomp enhanced roughly the same as the ST attacks.
Plenty of places to add LotGs for extra recharge.
It's meant to be a cheap but effective build. If you use it, or a variant on it, expect to be good, not awesome.

Like I said before, this isn't meant to be any kind of uber build. It will be fairly solid as you build up the resources for a good build however.
And, of course, you'll have to tweak it a bit to get all of your requirements out of it - my goals were a bit different from yours.

Ok i see. well i put about 8 bil into my ss/sd brute but he has 2 different builds. I made him when sd first came out so its pretty much purple and pos def bonus sets with the main staples. i bet if u spend wisely u can make 2 diff builds for different situations with that 10 bil your expecting to spend. I dont have mids so I cant really tell you an exact build for your tank, but i can tell u that its much easier and cheaper to softcap due to tankers armor modifiers being higher than brutes/scrappers. Not to mention sets are usually a substiantial amount cheaper heroside. One thing u may want to consider is trying to fit in both phalanx fighting and grant cover. Grant cover gives a good amount of def debuff resistance and if u can stack enough rech to keep active defense stacked, you will hit around 83-89% def dubuff resistance. At least on my brute thats about what i hit. I believe if u take weave, cj, A plus 3% io, and a couple sets that increase each pos def 2.5-3%, youll pass sofcap a bit on tankers. Play with mids a bit and see what you can come up with.
You should be able to get a capped SD/SS with far less than 10B. I'm hoping for about 1B on the build I'm heading toward now, and that's with a bunch of LotG +Rech and some uniques. You don't need all those to get what you want and without them this is less than a 500M build. No purples, obviously.
EDIT: I forgot to note that I use the jetpack as a travel power to save a power spot. Combined with the jump pack from one of the early expansions it does fine as your only long distance travel.

I've created both a Brute and a Tanker with the same combo of powersets. As the Brute is closing in on 50, I wanted to spend some time getting the Tank out of the 30s and on his way to 50 during this DXP Weekend. Now, considering the amount of toons that I want to IO out and considering the potential amount of inf IO'ing my Brute will cost (build is looking around somewhere in the 10 billion+ range.), I don't really want to spend a lot on the Tank but would love to get some excellent performance.
Here's what I'm looking for:
-Soft Capped Melee/Ranged Defense. Preferably AoE but I honestly don't mind losing a bit there.
-Fitness/Fighting/Leaping/Hasten
-Body Mastery for CP and PP
-Decent recharge. I don't mind LotGs in the build since I can consider them long term merit investments.
Now, with all this said, I'll be posting a build when I have more time for critique but was wondering if anyone had a build lying around that meets these requirements. Oh, and I wouldn't mind making sure I had pretty decent DDR.
