Solo Emp/Sonic build

Before I post my build, I'll make clear a few things. I intend to use this as my secondary build for solo play only, hence why there are no team powers (my primary build is much more balanced.) I went as cheap as I could on the IO's, because I don't have tons of influence to spend, and decided to focus on Ranged Defense and Recharge as much as possible. I know Emp's not an ideal soloist, just thought I'd try this out though. Is this build feasible? What kind of problems might I expect with it? (Besides the fact I'd be soloing with an Emp.) Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks. I couldn't get that to work right..

I have an Empathy/Energy Defender and may also try a solo build. Even with my team build I was able to solo effectively, but very slowly - especially against anything with status effects. I mostly carried around a tray full of break frees.

You may want to choose Stamina and level 20 and then Recovery Aura at 22. Stamina is always on and RA's recharge is long. Doing a lot of blasting, you may find yourself so low on end you need to pop a blue inspiration just to even fire RA. I used to have to do that when I was a low level Emp without Stamina.

I don't know much about Sonic, so I'll let someone else comment on that. Good luck! No reason an Emp can't solo and the ability to have a dual build will make it much easier and faster.

I pasted the HTML code into Notepad, saved it as an .html file, opened the HTML file and copied and pasted the text into Word. I pasted the Word text here. A workaround - I'm sure Mid's has an easier way, but I don't have it on this system.

I totally agree with MissInformed

My Emp/Elec just hit 20 (actually 21 now) and you REALLY want Stamina at 20, if you could get it sooner, then I would say get it then,
but 20 is the first shot at it, so ...

Also, you might consider moving Tough and Weave sooner in the build. I took boxing before 20 (10th I think) and will be taking Tough and Weave at 22 and 24.

I dont know sonic blast at all, but if you are sitting with 3 single target attacks and a decent AoE by 20, they should get you thru most fights.

Reading back through the posts, I realized I forgot to mention this is a respec build of an existing character. She's currently standing at 43 now, but I appreciate the feedback.

(edit: need to change my sig too.. hehe)

Ahh, then you are fine I think. Only considerations for placement would be if you plan on exemplar-ing down to levels where it would come into the forefront.

Looking at your build it looks pretty solid. I am wondering why you chose the Energy mastery Epic pool. With Tough/Temp Inv you will have awesome protection against smash/lethal, but if you went with ANY of the other Epic choices, you would add a third type of resistance. Electric and Psychic would seem the best at the end game.

Other than this, I can not offer much, since I dont play Sonic blast

When in doubt, go with resistance to your own damage type: smashing and energy, in this case. Unless you really want Power Build Up for whatever reason.

I've gotten my Emp to 48 now, and have just started IO'ing her out - Thunderstrikes in Shriek, Scream, and Shout, Stupify in Screech, Call of the Sandman in Siren's Song, Kinetic Crash in Shockwave, and 4 of the Mako's Bite's so far. Already she's head and shoulders above how effective she was with just SO's.
And I chose the Power Mastery epic for Power Build Up and Total Focus mainly, but now I'm wondering if I should switch out Temp. Invuln. for Force of Nature.. I didn't choose the Electric Mastery pool because Thunderstrike isn't as good as Total Focus, in terms of the stun, and the damage of both is a wash imo due to Thunderstrike's KB and mostly Smashing damage. Power Mastery was the only pool that offered a RELIABLE stun to stack with Screech, so I took that. Power Build Up is nice too, and that is actually the only ancillary pool power that both my Empath's builds have. Very useful power for a variety of things, despite the recharge. As for having resistance to my own damage type(s), she's got 34% defense to Energy and Neg. Energy , so I felt Temp. Invuln worked well enough in that department.

Dark Mastery also offers Oppressive Gloom, which stacks well with Screech for stunning bosses.
