Would Maneuvers be worth it here?

Hey everyone,

Ok, first the team set up. 2 Rad/Archer fender's with a Plant/Sonic troller.

Now, with the 2 Rad/xx toons I have perma AM by level 12 or so, without having to spend lots of INF or even get hasten, and while I like AM as a buff I really miss Empathy's Fortitude buff.

So I could of course leverage Leaderships buffs (Tactics) to add in the +acc that Fortitude gives but AM doesn't, and if I run 3x Maneuvers on my team I get ALMOST the same defense that Fort gives, but the question is, since I am going to have Sonic's shields up 100% of the time (both the single target ones and the team one), should I even bother with running maneuvers at all?

I guess mathematically it would help as any added defense helps a bit, and since the troller gets the least as far as shields go (not getting the targeted buffs) I wonder if it's worth it?

Also, given the maneuvers question, should I switch Sonic for FF? and make my team +Def based rather then +Res/+def? Sonic has some nice -res but the best buff in the set (the one that radiates out a -res aura around a teammate) is kinda useless since my team is mostly ranged, yes the plant pet sometimes runs in, and I prefer plant (seeds is the best power evah!) over any other troller.

As for what I want to do with the team, mostly just radio mish's, the odd TF (I have rad's debuffs for that) and no farming.

Thanks all.

I would definately say it is worth taking Maneuvers, fully slotted it is ~5% for a defender and ~4% for a controller so that is 14% defence which works out at your whole team taking 28% less damage - so well worth it!

Bubbles however can add ~30% to defence, so the two Rad defenders will be very close to the defence softcap, and I would think therefore it will be a better choice.

However; Sonic has a lot more going for it than just the shields, whereas FF doesn't really. I would seriously consider taking FF instead, but the sets are so different playstyle wise I would make that choice based on what you enjoy most.

A well built FF defender can basically soft cap the entire team. It's all up to you, because the Sonic would bring more to the table in certain situations.

I vote no. With the amount of -to hit you'll be leveraging with RI stacked with the defense from Manuevers, the resist from Sonic will give you a lot better mitigation.

Just pointing out you're comparing fully slotted Maneuvers to unslotted Fortitude.

Absolutely. In fact, with effective use of slotted RI, you may not even need Manuevers. RI is 31.25% base on a Defender. The effects of the purple patch can be cut by slotting it heavily (fully slotted it reaches 48.75%), and you'll be applying it twice. A Sonic will give you much more benefit, pushing you closer towards 99% mitigation.

We'll always have Paragon.

yea.... except.

I wasn't really planning on taking RI on both, rather take RI on one, EF on the other and one of them take the slow, I dunno if I really need TWO RI's, doing just radio mish's and the odd TF?

Oh, c'mon! Take all three on both. There's no kill like overkill!

That's what the new difficulty options are for. +2/x8 and you'll be getting use out of two RIs and EFs.
