  1. Interesting.

You can reply if you were a former poster, at least.

    Hey Roy.

Kind of like a funeral, where we all see relatives we otherwise would never see again.

Not a good example. It was either in use, or being held on an alt until recently. I tired making Pyre last year. Name was in use.

Names are out there. Yes, it is taking a greater degree of effort to think of new names. I know I've spent half an hour or more sitting at the character creation screen trying to come up with a name, to have many rejected due to being in use. I've also been lucky and found names on the first try.

I think another name purge would be good.
  4. AE exploits generally equate to lower priced rare salvages, large supply of IO recipes, and a large supply of Influence.

Closing an AE exploit means lots of influence is still out there, but IO recipe and Rare salvages supply go down.

Add in a patch that gives a freespec to everyone, removal of the need for a power pool that was almost universally chosen, and you have the makings of a massive demand on the market. High demand, low supply, prices go up.

And since there is that AE exploit that caused another massive influx of inf into the system, you also have lots of currency floating around. People with tons of currency that has no use then don't care what they pay.

Also, add in an influx of 50's coming back for I-19 and knowing they will be running around making more inf due to the raiding and TF's that will be needed for Alpha slotting.

Toss in a few factors I'm probably forgetting or not bothering with because I'm rambling too long, and you get a massive jump in market pricing.

And, in a few weeks, the prices will start to come back down again as supply catches up with demand. That won't help anyone that wants it RIGHT NOW! but again, the winners on the market have always been the patient and ungreedy.

No law, just an extra variable

    $192.89+$112.93+$82.93=388.75

but, also $34.98*x would have to be added to that. If they give away 4 runner up packs, they go over the $500.00
  6. Spidey like. (Person ends up with power, and is finding out it comes with responsibility. Also fits some of the "overgrown boy scout" into it )

Someone making the most of what they have, regardless of their situation. Often can be in over their heads somehow too. ( usually tied in with the Spidey Stereotype as well)

Sociopaths. ( Not insane killers, just people that don't relate to others well due to some circumstance. Ok, maybe one psychopath)

Crusaders. They have a cause. Now, how do you act on it?

Redeemed. ( Or may become so, in spite of themselves. The Jury won't be deciding on it for a while)

I even have the "No account Drifter not sure what he's doing, but found a kid and has to be a good example so he's doing the right thing" stereotype.
  7. Halloween event is coming. We all know what that means.

Stock up on the Alc Silvers, and other common salvages that sell for 4-5k or more during the year.

Prepare to buy Costume salvages for 50kish so you can turn around and sell them for 5-10 times as much later this year.

This message is to everyone who plays. If you don't like high prices, STOCK UP. The Halloween event is the best time to buy up salvage you will want to use this year.

Scoff if you want to, but this is exactly what I do every year. I pick up high demand salvage for under 333 inf and costume salvage for alt use, and start up funds. The great thing about costume salvage is you can hold so much per character and then mail it to the ones that need it now.
  8. hrmmmm.

Jericho Stone flies through his own magic and it being his dream as a kid.

St Elmo's Fire Teleports since part of his mutant ability is electrical, it's what allows him to jump short distances so quickly.

    Ardarel flies. He has wings.

Pyre has rocket boots that harness his own flame ability and uses it to power jet turbines. He bought them in a hero catalog.

Mr Dark flies via a spell. If I could give him a small whisk broom to hold I would.

Phrenic Arrow teleports through his own ability at telekinesis.

Shadez is invisible most of the time so no one really sees how he travels from place to place.

Desert Cossack runs fast. Uses Ninja run. Looks good with two sabers in his hands.

Fire Forged runs fast. Hes' a demon. He could probably fly and teleport as well if he wanted.

Street Viking rides a Harley. ( uses SS, but I generally keep him on the streets if I can)

Ahklun, My Praet, is only about 7 and a half feet tall. He can run pretty fast on his own.
  9. Weakness: Bad and slow typist. Miss-tells, misspells and typos on a constant basis. If Firefox didn't have a spell check in it, my posts would be horrible.

Strength. Support. I'm fine with others being in the limelight, but I do like being invovled and not just an audience for others to perform in front of. I try not to do that to others as well. ( not sure if I succeed or not, but I try)

Heck even posting this makes me feel like I'm trying to step into the spotlight and get attention. Bah.
  10. I finally got around to getting a billion on one toon. Time to get my ebil badge.

As to how, I did a lot of different things. Craft standard IO's, niches, rolling tickets and selling the crafted IO's. Got my first million on him by buying recipes and uncommon salvage and vendoring.

  11. Hrm. I hadn't thought about it really, but seeing this post has caused me to do so. Most of my characters I didn't think would look much different, but upon reflection...

Jericho Stone. You'd see him as he normally appears, but brighter and more intense. Also within him you'd see a super intense black spot, like what a black hole might look like if you could see one. There would be a kind of fuse or coupling, attaching the blackness and the intensity together. When it is on, blackness would leak through it, and he'd appear even brighter. He'd also have an aura. It would be as if hundreds or thousands of ghostlike versions of himself were all starting some other action, or looking in every direction simultaneously. (If you saw the Nicholas Cage film "Next", think of when he was searching the ship.)

Fire Forged: He'd look like the Balrog in LotR. His final costume slot will be something along those lines. There'd also be a tiny, almost imperceptable light near his heart, regardless if he was in full flame or not. It flickers, but refuses to die out.

Street Viking. He would be a little bigger, and would have either a raven or a wolf nearby, or be wearing an eyepatch depending on the situation ( In game, he'd have to go with the patch obviously). He'd have a chain mail vest instead of his biker vest, and his sword and shield would be with him.

Ahklun: Granite armor, but since he's a dom and can't get it I'd have to use crumbling aura and the stone looking skins from the costume generator. A walking mountain.

Ardarel. He'd appear as an angel, with a flaming sword of intense blue flame. He'd be wearing a flaming iron halo, his clothes would be of fine quality, but worn, and chains would drag from his ankles.
  12. I've found some very surprising places, not far from main PC hubs.

Talos is full of them. I have a few spots in the zone, and even on the main island that work well.

    Skyscraper tops in Steel Canyon.

    Almost anywhere in Galaxy.

The Arenas. Especially the doors opposite the main hub of the zone. (Northern entrances of Talos Arena for example)

An easy way to find one is to look at your maps. Any dark areas on your zone map? Odds are they are dark for a lot of people. That's where you will find quiet spots.
  13. As everyone said before. Pick four, have fun. If you want a theme, then pick one and go from there.

3-4 stormies. corrupter, defenders, controllers and MM's can all be one.

Pistols. Defenders, blasters, Corruptors and MM's.

All defenders. Repeat Offenders show how well this works.

Find a 5th and make a pentad ( One of each AT)

What's even better about all this, is you don't even have to keep up with one another teaming anymore. Current Sk'ing will let you all level at different speeds and still team together at level. Makes these groups a lot easier to keep up with one another.

  15. On number two, I doubt it will happen. When AE was in beta they did allow constant amushes, and decided to limit it for various reasons. There's also the chance of the mechanic going nuts and you get them all at once, or with a minimal amount of time between waves. ( Some of the GR ambushes do this.)
  16. I remember that night. I ended up standing just to the right of that picture, IIRC. I see I did make it into the other group shot Price posted.

    Thanks for posting Kai.
  17. I'd like to see them clean up a lot of the old junk and farm arcs, or even the "This is a quick mission I made testing out AE" MA's. One of the big turnoffs for me is seeing a ton of dead MArcs. The problem is how to clean them up, do you do it by number of plays, last played date, rating? You pretty much have to pay someone to go through them, one by one, and weed them out. And even then it would be subjective. Either we make a broad definition, and cut out too many things, or narrow it and leave in too many things. You won't find a perfect middle ground.

Something that may help is when I-19 comes, we'll probably see the Praet maps added to the MA. There's a lot of nice mission maps I'd like to use for stories. ( I also want ghouls. Fun!)

I think they will get back shortly. GR looked like it was an all hand on deck kind of project. New mission writing, new art, new everything. The stories have Aeon's touch. He'll likely be popping up in here again soon.
  18. I like Earth, but I admit that it's not the best soloer. It does much better in groups/teams.

As for play style, Someone, long ago, posted that a dom is a scrapper with controls for armor. Once I read that, I understood. You need to use melee attacks. You cannot play like a blaster or a controller. You need to get in the middle and hit things. If you have a fire secondary, you can almost play like a blaster, but melee attacks are faster, and it's all about kill speed. The faster you kill the held target, the sooner you can hold something else, and stop it beating on you.

AOE controls are nice, but they don't have the length of hold, or recharge to make me comfortable using them. Except for Earth. You can do three full stops with it if you work things right. ( aoe stun/aoe immobilize; Volcanic gasses, the best AOE hold available to doms IMO; and quicksand/earthquake) What's really good about quicksand/earthquake is you can cast it from around a corner, and not be targeted for an alpha strike. then you can walk in, kill and hold and do what you like while everything flops on the floor.

My earth/electric dom is 50. My new Praet is an earth/earth dom. You can see I like earth.
  19. Adding my vote for

Breath attacks. Yes, please allow an arm option for these attacks.

Medicine pool. Oh please yes, Let us have a non-tricorder versions. Day job versions also alternated as well please.

Teleport, Yeah another option there. The double arm flex and chest thrust needs an alternative.

    S.
Isn't the Burning Atlas Park map still available? or is that too specific and recognizable for you use?
  21. I've got a DP/Kin corr, and a DP/nrg blaster.

If you want to spend your time shooting, go with blaster. Corrs can be awesome, but you have to spend a lot of time popping buffs. Also, I hate soloing a Corr, and teaming you're going to spending half your time zapping people with buffs a lot. ( I get around it by duoing with a demon summoning MM with my Cor, most of the time)

Blaster wise, I like my nrg, but I know a DP/Mental would also do well. You'll be an AOE monster. ( two good cones, two PBAOE, a target AOE and a recovery power that is PBAOE) It stacks well for grouping and being in the middle of things. Add in hasten and you'll be wiping hordes of mobs out.
  22. 1-10 I buy uncommon salvage and level 40-50 generic IO recipes for under value and sell to vendors. Usually to make my first million.

Level 12 I'll buy DO's. I already have a million inf. I'm in good shape.

At Level 21, I place low bids for 10 damage, 10 acc, 10 recharge and 10 end reduc level 25 IO recipes and their salvage ( If I wasn't saving them already). By the time I hit 22, I should have them bought. Craft them and slot what I need, and sell the rest for 2-300k each. After that, I usually just fill in with 30's and 35 generic or set piece IO's as I need, or want, or get. Level 25 vs level 30 is a minor difference in effectiveness, and huge difference in price. You can pick up most of the pieces for bids of 111. Level 30+ salvage is usually a lot more. This gives you a decent base to start off into level 30 IO's. You also don't feel as much of a twinge when you trash them as you get better IO's to replace them.

That also gives you a jump on earning the 25-30 crafting badges which are a good way to earn steady inf.
  23. Vonnegut, Brown, and Jack London. I think the last one fits me more than the first two, personally.

Playing around with it yesterday, it took me three tries for Shakespeare to be like Shakespeare.
  24. Granted, it wasn't a human he brought back, but if Harry Dresden can bring back Sue...

You can easily play it similar, in that the dead do not have a will. They are driven by the will of the necromancer. If he raises them to fight evil, then good.
