  1. I was planning to take Stone Mastery on my Dark Armor tanker to stack stuns and be a bit of a "tanktroller", but looking at it in Mids', Earth Mastery > Stalagmites has only a 10% chance for its mag 3 stun. Is this a Mids' Hero Planner bug, or is it really that worthless?

    My Spines Dark

Your armors aren't the real problem with end issues. The 3 armors and OG add up to .86 end/sec. The real expenses are your damage auras and attacks.

Why on earth should your nuke, which does more damage than mine, has more secondary effects, and can be fired from out of LoS, keep damaging after you die when no one else's does?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Because it's in progress. The power has already fired.

But you know what, I took a nap and I thought about this. Those that say I'm a whiner and my point is ridiculous are right. Why would I ever complain about a power that does such tremendous damage and has such outstanding mitigation.

It's my fault for not being able to stay alive for 15 seconds. Because you know I get defeated a lot. I think I've only gotten one full Blizzard off out of 30 or so.

    Bucn of [censored] [censored] [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]Then you suck. Seriously, if my suicidal blaster stayed alive for the whole duration of the Blizzard that does KD, slows, and debuffs ToHit, and your corruptor, that has stuff like Siphon Speed, FS, Siphon Power, and Repel to be able to stay alive much better, can't, quite frankly, you suck at squishies, and should go roll a brute.

I know this is going to be unpopular, but I never thought Rage should be able to stack - you have to think that wasn't what they had in mind when they put together the powerset.

FWIW, if they made Rage incapable of stacking, I'd hardly consider that a 'nerf'... might be something else entirely.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they did not mean for rage to stack then they probably would not have made it so you could make it perma without any IOs.

[/ QUOTE ]It's perma at 4 recharge SOs

Ok I know you say you will fix both of these but the CoP has been down 4 years.

    [/ QUOTE ]

CoP went offline October 2006, unless my math is borked it's not been 4 years.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's broked.. its been down since before I came, and I came in i3 to 4 ish gotta be longer then that, and I agree with the devs corner thing XD I need a dev to post to do that though.

[/ QUOTE ]Huh, CoP, which requires bases, was broken since Issue 3, when we didn't have bases until Issue 6? Interesting how that math just doesn't work.

    [ QUOTE ]
    honestly ..i hate my dark/dark

    [/ QUOTE ]

This will likely come as a surprise to many, my self included, but I agree totally. Frankly, I'm baffled by how much I dislike my DA/DM tanker. At first I thought it was my own anti-tanker mentality, but I recently roled a WP/Axe which I'm enjoying thus far.

While on paper I can see the obvious differences between my DA/DM tanker and my DM/DA scrapper, in game the tanker just feels like a weak scrapper. I intend to re-visit my DA/DM tanker....eventually but ATM I think it's just not a good combo for a Tanker.

I may try DA/Mace or DA/SM next go around.

[/ QUOTE ]I think I know exactly what it is. You have a DM/DA scrapper, so you're going to compare your Tanker to it. That's why I rolled mine with a secondary that scrappers don't have. Had the dark sets started with tankers, someone trying a scrapper version of them after 4 years of them being tankers would start thinking to themselves "man, I feel like a more flimsy tanker". It's really just a matter of perception.
  7. Wow.

(Also, what's the arc number so I can try that some time?)
  8. [ QUOTE ]
I don't see any glaring problems, but it's hard to know what to recommend since we don't know what your goals are for the build. I do think that 4 -KB IOs is overkill unless you're planning to PVP. That's mag -16, and a normal tanker only gets -12 from his primary. Dropping one--or even two--of those could save you some money.

It's fairly inexpensive to slot for typed def bonuses and +recovery, and some Energy def in particular is useful since Dark's resistance to that type is so low. Let us know if you want some specific recommendations.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, those are there because I'm rather fond of fighting Nemesis, and Fake Nemmies in particular. I definitely went for broke on the +recovery, but didn't even think about Energy defense. Mostly what I was going for there was perma-rage, and enough recovery that that -25 end every 2 minutes didn't kill me.

[/ QUOTE ]Fixed, /Dark gets their mez protection pre-15, too.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Minor nitpick. DA doesn't get knock back protection, and most of what you're facing in that TF is tons, and TONS, of earthquakes.

[/ QUOTE ]Steadfast Protection: -KB is available at level 10.

    My Spines Dark

I also shored up your resists a bit more while getting you extra slots for attacks by switching them to almost pure-HamiOs. I honestly think the slotting for DR I gave you is far more vital, though, as where it was, you were completely tanking your blue bar with it. You had it at 28 end/cast, mine drops it to 17, and I found a place to move the 5% recharge bonus to, so you didn't actually lose out on it.
  11. Okay, I had to pull out a couple LotGs, but I got one set up for you that *just* hits the soft-cap on Ranged, and gets you over it on AoE and Melee. (I also took a look at your Spines/Dark if you want to take a look there).

But here's your DM/Shield, with 45%+ to all 3 positions (and only one changed power for it):

Okay, I worked up two slightly different builds for you, build 1 is if you're tied to Body Mastery for some reason, build 2 is if you don't mind switching into Darkness Mastery. The latter gets Hasten down to 4.5 seconds of downtime. (Build 2 in second post due to post limits)

  16. And, because they won't both fit in the same post, here's my planned level 50 build, with Stone mastery for stun stacking:

As stated in first post, CoD and CJ are fairly swappable (though Stealth-stacking will be nice for TFing), and the Stupefy proc is just there for [censored] and giggles, and if I could get much better performance with the slot elsewhere, it's swappable.

OK, you're right. But, it has crossed my mind that a little payback to those guys would be great.

[/ QUOTE ]Completely agreed. And it's crossed my mind, too. Multiple times.

Use the SPAM button. It flags the account sending the email for investigation, and appears to delete ALL emails from that account from your inbox. At least, I've seen multiple ones disappear with a single click.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, the /ignore part of the action does that, I believe.

I call myself an altaholic because I have a short attention span... Oh Look! A Bunny!

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Fixed that for ya.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bah, can't believe I forgot about that opportunity. I usually go with butterfly. *runs off after the butterfly*

[/ QUOTE ]I am an unashamed altaholic. My attention just flitters between my different chara--- ooh! A fox!
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The Urban Dictionary's definition of "Altoholic"

Seems there's a bit of discrepancy in the definition. Maybe it might help to develop a contrasting veiw.

What's the opposite of an "altoholic" and what would you call such a person?

[/ QUOTE ]Someone who focuses exclusively on one or two characters (in the case of two, generally one from each side). The term for them is Mainalomaniac.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
...On a side note, you can effectively reduce your own spam by using /hide so people can't use a simple /search to get your name...

[/ QUOTE ]This does NOT work at all. I have had characters that I haven't logged in to for well over 300 days and they have spam e-mail from various days.

Personally, I think NCSoft has a stake in some of the RMT sites, so the player database is sold / used for marketing purposes.

[/ QUOTE ]Don't forget your tinfoil hat on the way out the door, wouldn't want those mind-control satellite beams getting through to you.

Video Device Name: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
    Manufacturer / Chip: Intel Corporation / Intel(R) GMA 950
    Video Memory: 224.0 MB
    Driver Version: 6.14.0010.4926
    Driver Date: 2/15/2008 1:12:06 AM
    Driver Language: English

[/ QUOTE ]Quite frankly, you're screwed. The Intel GMA 950 Graphics "solution" is only good for word processing, and maybe the occasional PowerPoint presentation.

And yes, you can upgrade to a new video card on a laptop, but I would advise having it professionally done, as you need to find a mobile card, not a standard one, and it's rather cramped in there.

I would dearly like to see a "delete all email as spam" button. That would be more useful than removing emails and forcing spammers to find a more direct route to annoy and interrupt gaming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like marking emails as spam works so well now.

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I delete an email as spam its un-ignoring a spammer on my global ignore list to make room for the new spammer. This doesn't accomplish anything.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, it does, actually. Because you're missing the part where the Spam button automatically sends a pre-phrased, pre-written, pre-flagged petition to the GM staff, where they likely dedicated a few hours to checking all the emails marked as Spam before getting out the Banhammah.
  23. I'm more a fan of the hold proc for it, since that gives me something to do during green phases on Hami Raids.
  24. ArcticFahx

    Only 1 ACC?

    [ QUOTE ]
Depends on the power in question.

For example: The ST immobilize and hold in Gravity have a base accuracy of 1.20 (that's a 20% better accuracy than normal, translates to 90% base to-hit) For those powers, only one accuracy is fine. However the AoE hold has lower accuracy than normal, I use 2 or more for powers like that.

Check the accuracy rating on your powers before you decide how many to slot.

[/ QUOTE ]And also look at other powers you may have. For example, if you have a /SS tank, you can use less accuracies in your attacks because you'll have Rage, which provides an easily perma-ble 20% ToHit buff. Or if you take Tactics, that can reduce the need for accuracies, as can Followup in Claws (if you slot it for acc and recharge)

    Hi guys,

I'm a new player to city of heroes and i like to know if the game is any good? can it keep me going for the next few years. I come from World of Warcraft and it was too much work to keep everything up to date, gear wise.
So tell me the pros and cons from the game and if you could suggest me the game.

    Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]On a plus note: My opinion of Loot in CoH are Purple Recipes. They have a 1/5000 chance of dropping. PvP recipes are another version of loot. You can get millions (Or billions. Pinnacle just recieved it's first 1 billion infamy recipe) of Influence/infamy.

[/ QUOTE ]Aye, and the best part is that none of these are required. The game remains balanced on Single-Origin Enhancements.
