Help. I am missing something....

Hello all in scrapperland. First let me start by saying I am a 39 month vet that has spent the majority of my time with Controllers and Doms and anything else AOE. Which recently brought me to fill a scrapper void in my Character Slots and then I found Spines Dark. Yikes, I am now hooked! The past several months I have been frequenting the Scrapper forums reading and soaking in knowledge from the likes of Werner,Powerforge,Billzbubba Desmodo and countless others. This new found interest in scrappers brought me to my latest build a DM/Shield(cough*cough Future AV Killing hopefully). He's at 50 and gobbs of IO's on him and I thought I was complete until I checked combat attributes.I have a discrepency between Mids and CA of around 2.6% Melee,Ranged and AOE, at that I cannot figure out. So I posted my build with the hopes of some investigation from the Scrapper gurus. I am sure it is something simple but it has escaped me. Btw, this build should look familiar as it is a collaboration of everyones efforts. Here,s the discrepency:
Mids has me at
Melee - 46.2,
Ranged - 46.1 and
AoE - 45.4.
When I check combat attributes I am at
Melee - 43.68,
Ranged - 43.45 and
AoE - 42.82

You have Phalanx Fighting turned on.

Mids lists it as a 6.something percent cause it assumes 1 ally in range, but when you're solo it only gives you 3.75% defense

Thank you for the reply. UGH, so I thought I was close to softcap solo, I guess I have more work to do. I appreciate the quick reply.

Also, the hamis you want in Active Defense are membranes

Now that I think about it, I thought I saw a post a while back that mentioned how to edit Mids so that Phalanx Fighting would report it's stat's with "0" allies in range? Is that true or am I thinking of something else?

Well, I just figured it out and learned something today. I have been using mids for ages and apparently not to it's full potential or even close. I found how to edit Phalanx Fighting to give an accurate number while soloing. I have a feeling there's much more to learn.

How do you do that? I was just subtracting 3% from the number. Knowing how to fix that would help out.

And yes, thats enough to play tag with AV's. I did it on my /sr before I got to 45%, and I didn't have the extra hp or the heal from siphon life.


Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

Also I hope that is a respec build because that will be tough to level with just siphon and smite as your only attack chain

I found a way, but it'll cost me an additional 500 million, which atm I do not have ......ie....pvp IO.
But I am looking into making some changes myself and your help would be greatly appreciated!

Okay, I had to pull out a couple LotGs, but I got one set up for you that *just* hits the soft-cap on Ranged, and gets you over it on AoE and Melee. (I also took a look at your Spines/Dark if you want to take a look there).

OK I did it but you will have to sacrifice some recharge not a lot but that is part of the shield way to get to the softcap

Also I made a change to stamina because you get more out of the endurance proc in there then in dark consumption also you may want to look at reordering the powers so if you decide to examplar your build will not hurt so much. That is my suggestion take it or leave no big deal there just a suggestion.

I also made a change to siphon life as a suggestion since you want to solo AV's and your attack chain you have more than enough +endurance in the build so you lost a little there but in the long run with conserver power and hasten etc you will be fine

Don't forget that while AV's resist tohit debuffs pretty heavily(85% at lvl 50), DM still has it in spades.

4 attacks in a DM chain will give you 22.52 -tohit. 15% of that is 3.37%. You can look at that as 3.37% defense to all positions.
