This also worked during halloween event when you win the Coralax costume.

I also liked the Jingle Jet sound effects at Christmas.

The Matrix Room? Ok after 6 years never even heard of it. I gotta know where it is.

Water looks much better, and it actually causes distortions.

Reflective surfaces actually relfect, and my widow is now very shiny.

If you bump into a shop sign an NPC will normally tell you to be more careful.
If you run fast enough you can smash the doors off of red phone boxes in Faultline and Sirens
Gate to trainer in IP will swing open if you run into it.

Its an unused room under the PI arena gotta go out of the map. theres a hole in the north war wall, get through the hole run north off the map till you actually fall off and the run back along the botom till you under the arena and type /stuck and you'll end up here.
Shame really that they never used it , i really like it

But PI doesn't have war walls, flying north spits you back out into Talos. Is there something I'm missing? Blueside navigation confuses the heck out of me.

EDIT: found the hole! For anyone looking for it, the hole is up in the NE corner of PI you have to jump up until you hit an invisible platform (if you aren't you get an "You cannot enter" prompt or get sent to Talos) then strafe left to fall through the hole, run along the "wall" to align yourself with the arena (makes it easier to do a straight run ahead) then turn and head north until you hit the drop-off then follow the above quoted stuff.

Watchers, Observers and Overseers. When they attack you with those mouths that look like eyes, they make a faint chomping sound that I'd heard in every cartoon in the 70's and 80's.

That still works? I haven't seen effects like in recent years since I no longer have a card that supports PhysX (which AFAIK went out of business and therefore NO new cards will have it). I went looking for a software emulator for the tech but never found anything either.

Ticks me off too. I loved the PhysX stuff. It really made everything look a lot cooler.

All Nvidia graphics cards (from the 8800 range and above) support PhysX... If you are talking about the *highest* PhysX setting in game, i believe that is going to be greyed out unless you do have an *actual* PhysX card installed.

If i remember correctly, the lower settings run fine even if you have an ATI card installed (not 100% sure, but to find out, i would have to kick the girlfriend off Guild Wars 2 to check).

Side note: PhysX (in general) doesn't actually require an NVidia card installed. There is actually a CPU emulation version available for developers to use when an Nvidia card is not present.

*HOWEVER* It is up to the developer to implement that Nvidia "free" version.

Another really neat trick:

Find any chainlink fence, including the Crey pens in their compound on Nerva.
Run right into the fence, and stop.
Turn on Sprint, Ninja Run, or Super Speed (any +Run Speed power).
Then run forward again.
You will pass thru the fence!! Even allows you to enter the cages with the other captives in Nerva!!!

You can also use this trick to get behind the counter of some stores, like the Tech Store in Talos Island.

I use this in some of my bases to allow for 'security areas' to be blocked off by side by side large floor lamps placed just one space apart. If you know the trick, you can pass between them and enter the area they guard.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting what the options are saying though. I do have control over the particle slider, but PhysX is completely greyed out, and there was never a time where I had a standalone PhysX card, but the effects used to look much nicer back in the day. Two upgrades later and the physics effects just never looked the same. Right now I'm running an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560, which is 2-3 upgrades past the one I had when the particle physics looked top-notch.

I used to stand under trees and watch a leaf pile slowly form, and then run through them like a 5-year-old. Now, the leaves just pass right through the ground and vanish, though they apparently are still there just below the plane, because occasionally when I run by, one of them will kick up for a second. But it's nothing compared to how it used to be, when cars would explode and toss debris everywhere, and blowing up a mailbox sent a hundred letters into the air.

So, to make sure we're on the same page, is this what your options window looks like?

Same graphics card as me

I just loaded up the main PC to find out, and I have *exactly* the same options for you. Maybe the Aegia PhysX one only appears when you actually do have a PhysX card installed in the machine.

If you do increase the Particle options one notch higher, it does suggest having a seperate card to deal with it (seperate PPU). This is believe is the NVidia PhysX system.

There have been some tweaks done to it (i believe) so it could affect what you had seen previously. Not sure why they tweaked it, unless it was to correct some of the more esoteric ragdoll/knockbacks that cropped up occasionally (which then borked it for everyone else).

That's correct. The game was never updated to support the NVidia GPU-based PhysX drivers.

Edit: Particle effects like leaves, bullet casing and so forth have always worked without PhysX as far as I know. I have never had working PhysX support (I never owned a card) and these have been part of my game for ages. My possibly incorrect understanding was that having a PhysX card simply offloaded the costly calculations for these to that subsystem.

Well someone mentioned the Nerva island, there is also one in Cap au in the South.

And someone mentioned running into ATMs to make them spit out bills. (Love doing that.)

If you have Singularity or Repel, you can cause leaves to fall from trees, mail to spew out from mailboxes, and trash/trashbags to fly out of the large garbage bins.

In one of the Arachnos base maps there is a room similar to the jail room area. But you can jump over the wall and on the other side is a small 'hang out' area with vodka bottles.

Oh yes, and in Faultline you can follow the Arachnos tunnels from the hazard area to the other side. The entrance/exit on the dam side is right by a dead tree. Most people don't notice, and I think it's technically on the map. But largely unused.

You can also get there by logging off next to it - when you log back in you will be next to the door at the back which is the other side of the counter - use /stuck to get back out.

This weekend I was taking screenshots of some of my characters and I decided to snap a pic of one standing next to the shark that's hanging on a hook in front of the building in Port Oakes where Mickey the Ear is standing. I got too close to the shark and knocked it off the hook!

I've run right by that shark for years and never knew you could knock it down. There's also a swordfish hanging next to it--I discovered that bumping into that one makes it swing but it doesn not fall down.

In talso the training store, you can exit out of the door to the right of the counter at the back of the store. Also have you notice that when enter a mission door, it will open out into the street, but in the mission when entering or exiting it opens in to the mission map?

Well I'm still seeing particles, I just don't see them interact with the ground the same anymore. Casings fly, but don't sit on the ground waiting to be tossed by a close proximity energy blast. Same like I said with the leaves.

So an easy question to test... DO you see leaves sit on the ground after they fall? I cranked up the particle physics to max (didn't even know there was a higher setting before) and it didn't fix the problem. So if you stand under a tree and the leaves collect on the ground (instead of falling through) then there is something very odd going on here. Kinda a pointless issue in the middle of sunset, but still, that would have me very perplexed.
